its used together with a special screw for dismantle-able furniture..especially tables.
it sits in a hole on one side of the furniture, while a screw head protrudes itno it, turning it CW, locks the joint, as 1 part of it pulls firmly on the screw head, turning it CCW, releases the joint, thus you can dismantle that joint

let me use our local parlance, the name Nigeria don cast, as Colombia is identified with Drugs even though we have several south, central, Latin America countries doing the drug business and even South east Asia countries as well that also engage in the illicit business but once you mention Colombia, the first thing that pops up even in a harmless and friendly discussion is drug

I was discussing with a Pakistani importer based in the middle East for a business transactions 2 years ago, after we concluded every details of the transaction before the items will be shipped to lagos, he backed out at the last minute, he said and I quote, my lawyer in Islamabad said you want to do business with a Nigerian, you will be scammed and your fingers will be burnt, I tried to explain to him that you carry dual nationality even though you are originally born in Nigeria, he said whether dual nationality or not, Nigerians are scammers... End of quote, that put a nail on the textile transactions we were supposed to do together

The media and foreign embassies are also not helping the matter, they provide consular advices to their citizens on the dangers and pitfalls in doing business in Nigeria, CNN, BBC and ALJAZEERA have ran several documentaries on the dangers of engaging in business in Nigeria, this has further put a dent on the already battered image of the country, type doing business in / with Nigerians and see what my friend called Google will give you

Unfortunately, its the bitter truth. "When one finger gets soiled the whole hand gets soiled". Bribery and corruption is widely accepted as the norm in Nigeria. A very simple process turns into a complicated issue. like applying for a meter, Licence or making a complaint to the police etc.

You are not alone. I feel the same way. i find my self always defending Nigeria and trying to encourage people to experience Nigeria before making up a story about the country. The most annoying part is the Nigerians in diaspora; a lot of them are very unpatriotic. They are also the benefactor of corruption in Nigeria without wanting to admit it. Most are children or relation of politician and elite of the country. Then prefer to hide under other country's success and claim that they are doing great. They are great at identifying problems with Nigeria but are so damb to implement solution for the country.

My question to these group of people is simply; Who is going to fix your country for you? And who is the perpetrator of all the same thing you are claiming is bad with Nigeria? Ain't you the same Nigerian that you claim are corrupt? Don't you use your " connection" to get your way as well in Nigeria?

Bottom line; we are Nigeria, what you is there is who you are Period!!! start coming up with solution and please start with YOURSELF first!!!

Never in the history of Nigeria has any administration stood up and fought corruption with the fierceness it deserves. There has always been this laziness in government to tackle corrupt people, both nationals and foreigners. The entire investment sector of the Nigerian economy has been compromised. Bribes are offered and openly collected without fear, all law enforcement agencies demand and collect bribes as a normal, no fear whatsoever. In fact, innocent people are arrested and detained so they can pay bribes to be set free, for being innocent !

Our governments are not doing anything to help. So I don't expect things to change soon.

You are absolutely right with this point of view. A land that has no accountability, has no offense. The authorities are so corrupt it hurt patriots like myself. But i believe we still have to believe in the country and continue to work towards improving the situation there now; irregardless of the challenges we are facing.

@kopell. We have to be honest with ourselves,and if it means that the whole world knows about it, then let it be. The corruption is so endemic that kids born a few decades ago think it is ok to accept and pay bribes. Like Spyder880 said, there is no oversight, or checks and balances. From the groundnut seller who cheats you with a modified measuring cup to the politicians, corruption has become rife and unchecked. A blessed country with valuable natural resources, and we cannot get it together

You must understand my pain and frustration with the system. I have lived and worked here all my life, and still facing these demons daily. Nothing is more vexing than being delayed on the road daily for searches and document checks, even by cops who clearly can't read. You have to settle to get the most basic of approvals, you have to know someone who knows someone before being considered for anything. Should I talk about government contract awarding process? Horrible. I chose to stay away from any government contract before they will compromise my values.

But if you think there's any part of our economy which has not suffered from corruption, tell us. I am even afraid to invest in the stock market any more. Its just a pity.

The world reading this is a great help, maybe pressure from outside can force the hands of our governments to wake up and do things right, lots of square pegs in round holes, lots of incompetence, lots of avoidable mistakes, lots of same mistakes repeated over and over again to the extent that you start thinking its deliberate. We cannot continue like this.

And for some of you who have seen better, some of you who have experienced a semblance of good governance in foreign countries, how do you manage to lower all your standards, stoop lower to accommodate this sleaze? How do you feel when you see policemen posted to checkpoints for the sole purpose of fleecing motorists and beating anyone who objects into submission? How do you feel paying hefty bribes to free your relatives from cell for the offence of walking around in their own neighbourhoods? How do you feel when girls are coerced into sleeping with old lecturers, if they must pass a course in the university, while boys must pay in cash or fail the course. How do you feel when patients die just because there is no equipment in hospitals to save them after billions has been budgeted and embezzled, or because the driver of the ambulance drove away to do kabu kabu with the only vehicle for ER and so the patient died on top of a motorcycle after a spinal injury.

In all, nobody will be punished, nobody has been jailed yet for budget padding, nobody will ever be jailed for including thousands of ghost workers into most payrolls. And the whole cycle will repeat itself again tomorrow. How can I keep quiet?

Nothing can work in this country Nigeria. Our parents are greedy, selfish, heartless. The present Nigeria from 1980 till dis moment is a big disgrace. We see ourselves as mosquitoes now, killings means nothing to human. If you profound best solution before u leave the point ur family is in trouble, you that say it you will wonder who among u that disciss it want you dead.

I pity the system, i pity generation yet unborn, so many thing is wrong, our Demonstration of crazy we call Democracy is our big problem, Our Judiciary is expose they only understand money now, the judiciary that shuld b d last hope of the masses. There is problem.

FX is the present trade in town every1 want their money in Dollars, whatever happen to the naira they do not care, how will economy matters to them. Politician steal to develop another man's land. Imagine our stolen fund to other country loan is giving to their indigenous @ single digit interest rate but we that have the money interest rate is min of 24%.

i wonder what the CBN is doing. Dollar is respected more in Nigeria, but this currency has no legal tender but request is high. China is building a strong Yuan now America is shacking.

the are screws but special types. mostly found on foreign fixable DIY already made furnitures. i dont know if you can see it in Nigeria though. but Ikea has alot of it..

l, honestly want to read the solution you say lies with the same people because people have been killed in Nigeria for refusing to give bribes to blood thirsty cops on the roads, some diasporans came to help rejig the government, some were frustrated out of the system and they returned back to their adopted country.

Look at the police force of Nigeria, if you Daboomb is appointed to be the IG of police and you role out your plans to revive the police and to weed or reduce corruption, as long as you don't step on toes while discharging your duties, you are safe, the day you touch the kitchen cabinet of the president or powerful politicians, they will call you to order or remove you, and this is just the police department l am talking about, like spyder880 said, it has permeated all the facet of our national life, if you ask me the way out, I don't think I know how best things can change in Nigeria

Now, bear in mind the site is just over 1 plot (about 700sqm, with a building already on it, so the total area that needs stamped concrete is probably less than half of 700sqm). I am not sure which site this guy visited or where he studied mathematics. His quote shows a total area of 2,277.4 sqm, resulting in a cost of just over N8million to floor a compound of less than a plot (and not even polished stamped concrete, but the cheaper unpolished one)! Is this guy for real!
