Accident free indeed.

Not only has this vehicle had a severe unibody/frame accident in the past, but it has also been flagged for odometer rollback and Theft recovery.

Mileage: 110 thousand miles

Last reported mileage was 111,285 miles in 2016

This is just ridiculous.

Unibody damage is in a special category of Vehicle frame assault.

To think this vehicle was advertised as accident free just boggles the mind.

I just don't understand how these moderators can see such obvious cases of dangerously false information and misrepresentation and let these dealers get away with them.

Please stay away from this vehicle especially with that accident free tag still there.

This dealer would definitely not be the type to disclose the truth to buyers.

Cosplay and Ipfreely last reported title on this car "Clean Title"

Unibody damage was in 2010, we are in 2018 and from the vin report the car was been used after the "unibody Incident", Which i suspect was fixed to factory spec by the dealer and Title documents were renewed almost every year since the incident.
Meaning it passed safety inspection.

As for the theft recovery thingie, Its no biggie now, Car was stolen, insurance company paid claim, car was recovered and insurance company sold off at Auction.. I don't see any issue with that.

NB: Only issue with this AD is dealer not disclosing VIN.. Car is clean titled with minor dents/Scratches

You overestimate those inspections. I can tell you for a fact that they aren't always what you assume they are.

He did not suggest the theft was a big deal. He disclosed the history of the vehicle.

I will also disagree with the only issue being the absence of a VIN. He clearly stated Accident free in the title. This vehicle may not be salvaged, but thats just a technicality. This history is certainly not clean.

Is this vehicle accident free?

My point was, and is, that this is the sort of damage that specifically needs to be disclosed. Withholding it to effect a sale is illegal and can easily earn one a lawsuit.

Whether it happened 10 years ago or yesterday is irrelevant. As I've tried to point out, the regulations for retitling salvaged vehicles can be ridiculously lax in some regions.

It's best to stay away from vehicles with such significant frame damage as much as possible. And in this case the dealer clearly has no intention of disclosing that history.

For the rest of your response, you should know that there is a difference between a clean title and a clean history.

It's a long explanation for which I really do not have the calories.

However if you choose to focus on the document of sale and lack of a salvage title as your basis for assessing this vehicle, then by all means go ahead. We can respectfully agree to disagree. wink

I understand your point loud and clear but i will still pick this over so many other "salvaged cars" without functional SRS which Nigerian dealers import.
And i can bet my next month pay, the dealer did not know about the Unibody damage

On a lighter note.. With the amount of Pot/drum holes which we fly/enter on Nigerian roads.. Will It will be safe to say majority of Nigerian used cars have Unibody damage?? grin grin grin

If you're aware of the history and still wish to purchase it, then by all means go ahead. Your choice. smiley

The level of damage necessary to be declared unibody damage is the sort that occurs in a rollover or similar situations. smiley

His ignorance is NO excuse.

Ignorance of important information about something you're advertising is not a valid excuse.

No, unfortunately not in Nigeria. One more issue with your country. It takes just one precedent though. Just one favourable ruling. It is, afterall, fraud.

And fraud is certainly illegal in Nigeria, never mind what the 'celebrities' portray.

@ Cosplay & Ipfreely, I care to know which Car both of you drive if at all you have any (no insults) but certainly not a Brand New Cars. grin grin
I have a friend with so much enthusiast for Cars. He did more than what both of you are doing right now. When he wanted to buy his 1st Car, he searched the length and breadth of Lagos, spent soo much money on Autocheck Report, after soo many months he went Pre-order way but the landing cost was far over his budget for a Clean Title Accident Free Car .
At the end of the day when Reality dawn on him, he settled for a Salvage Car. It's 5years and the Car still drive perfectly. Don't make it look as if Salvage Cars are death traps and not fit to be on the road. This person is a well known NLer on Auto Section.
This Audi, if it's not road worthy it won't be used in America for another 7years despite having unibody damage. This report clearly showed Odometer rollback occur in US too as this is a typical example.

1. There is nothing wrong with salvage vehicles when they're repaired to standard and the buyer is aware of the history even before any inspection.

2. So because odometer rollback occurs in the US, we should...I don't quite get your point. What, we should all encourage it? If you didn't know, odometer rollback is a federal felony, not even a misdemeanor charge. If incest happens in the US, we should all be incestuous as well? Moot point.

3. I've come to understand that the process for recertifying salvage vehicles isn't even as vigorous as I had assumed. Turns out in some places it's quite lax. So yes, this vehicle could very well have been used all that time and not be repaired to standard.

4. I don't own a vehicle, don't even own any automobile of any kind, don't even have the finances to afford any automobiles at all.
cheesy grin

5. As for your friend who did more than what whoever did whenever, the best of luck to him, to each his own.

Finally, because you have completely managed to miss the point entirely, either on purpose, because you do seem to have some selective memory, or unintentionally,

The point was never about salvage or no salvage. Most of your vehicles are salvage.

Is this vehicle with this history what you would consider accident free?

• Look here, I'm not here to make enemies, we all come here to learn from each other and dats the beauty of Nairaland. I never missed the point, my point was basically on understanding and interpreting Vehicle History and my attention was drawn to this post by a Nairalander who is somehow interested in this Vehicle to make my input.
The person got confused when you referred to an event that occured in 2010 from the report. The Vehicle was still flogged for additional 7yrs before been exported which clearly showed it met standard. You have no idea how many customers are at crossroads because of your Campaign or how many Dealers this has affected, I am not affected though so I'm not bothered.
All my Cars are Salvage, no doubt, but I disclose it. You'v NEVER thought of registering on Nairaland when I was selling strictly clean title Cars. Like I said earlier, economic reality will soon dawn on you. Until then you will understand why we import Salvage Cars

Just don't misrepresent salvaged cars OR accidented cars as accident free.

That's all.

1. Everyone is a Victim when it comes to Vehicle History. In my 10years experience I still fall victim once in a while. You have no idea the type of crime that go on in USA & Canada. Forget about Vehicle History now. I once bought a Nissan Pathfinder with Clear Title Accident Free which I thought was Brown Color, Vehicle got here and turned out to be White Color. The whole exterior was prime in brown to deceive buyer. In such a case who do I hold responsible?

2. You probably didn't get my point here. My Point was to let you know the extent of crime that goes on over there. Majority of which were unbelievable especially for those that believe so much in white people. Not all whites are white.

3. Washing a Vehicle Title is the easiest thing to do. I created a thread here in 2009 on a badly accidented 2007 Nissan Quest. It was repaired and the Title was washed and report became Clean. It's that simple to do provided it's repaired to Standard. Don't believe in all what you read online. You will understand better when you'v been there before. It's a felony crime but majority got away with it and we Nigerians fell Victim because we believe soo much in them

1. No, actually I do have an idea about vehicle related crime in North America. Don't make those assumptions without enough facts about the subject of the assumptions.

2. Every human has the capacity for good or evil. Skin colour or race or tribe are just artificial means for fostering division and discrimination.

3. 'Washing' a title is not 'the easiest thing to do'. It is not impossible, but it can certainly be done with the right skill and knowledge. You assume I haven't been 'there'. Another assumption without enough facts.

• The fact remains that don't spoil market for this young man. The person that made the statement that people are hard to please was indirectly referring to Nigerians. You encourage dealers to display Vin which they do, at the end you turn around and start pointing to one thing or the other in the Report which I'm very sure majority of these dealers or middle men are not aware of.
You need to show some courtesy when demanding for Vin from posters and not the rude way you always request for it especially one jodeci moniker. If you continue this way, dealers will stop displaying Vin once they know it's to discredit their adverts and those that turned out to be Clear Title you NEVER commend their effort.
Whoever is Interested should request for Vin directly from the Seller and do their due diligence. Now, the person that drew my attention to this thread is confused and don't know whether to buy or not.

1. Go through every single post I've made history related comments on. I'm as polite as I could possibly be. I vouch for myself, nobody else.

2. Whenever a VIN is displayed, whether at my or some other person's behest, I may run that VIN.
I only return with my findings when:

- The person has made a false claim on that thread, directly contradicted by the history.

Examples: 'accident-Free', flood free, no accidents, clean title when it's a salvaged vehicle, or false mileage.

- the person was not forthcoming or ignored the VIN requests and the VIN had to be provided for the seller, without his direct consent.

As long as a seller does not make false claims, and posts the VIN, we will stay far away from that thread.

3. You're wrong. I have commended quite a number of individuals for being forthcoming with the VIN. It may be overt, as in DelTel 's brilliant ads, among others, which are paying off btw, or covert by sharing and liking their adverts.

4. Whichever dealer decides to hide the VIN because they weren't commended for doing things the right, transparent way is at liberty to. One way or the other the VIN will be made available.

5. The middlemen are not aware of? Please carguideng autocheck is 1000. There's computerglobal. There's a thread here offering free reports sometimes. How can you claim to be a middleman when you don't even know what you're selling? There's a gentleman who advertised a stolen or illegally obtained venza. The ad is still here. His case was different because it wouldn't have been obvious or easy to detect it. That's a different thing.

6. Tell this anonymous indecisive buyer to schedule a physical inspection by a trusted professional. That, and this history should guide his decisions.

7. Read 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 again.
