Pro drivers get all the thrills of driving at speed at the track so they drive defensively on the streets. They know the limits of their cars acceleration, braking and cornering adhesion and adjust for road, traffic and weather conditions.

Reaction times and decision making
Pro drivers develop the ability to make extremely rapid judgements and decisions and taking action when something unexpected happens. They act without hesitation where others might freeze, sometimes using techniques learned on the track.

Respect for high energy collisions
Pro racers have all seen or felt the violence of a high speed crash. On the track they have safety systems to protect them and they're racing with other professionals. On the street they have a unique understanding of the consequences of a crash and drive to get themselves and their passengers where they're going safely.

Keep in mind that due to their jetset lifestyle quite often F1 drivers are driven around or get cars from their manufacturer wherever they happen to be - Lewis Hamilton has been seen in various Mercs for example.
Hamilton also has a genuine '66 Shelby Cobra that is looked after by a specialist. He also has (or had?) a Zonda that he pranged in Monaco during 2015. The car was customised by the factory to his request.
