Yeah Kenyan matatus (dafnos) are unique - and shows the creativity & ingenuity of the industry. There are of course the usual standard buses and mini-buses - but sector also has really souped up mini-buses and min-vans that are moving entertainment & artwork - majority with videos, wifi, and even dstv - that allows you to watch live football as you're taken in your destination

This is what public transport buses look like across the world. Lagos BRT with AC and WiFi. We are not there yet but it's gonna happen. I hear Kenya is planning something like this to decongest the roads and save people from the horror of the informal noisy mutatus

A kenyan would be hard pressed to board a danfo while a typical Nigerian would even find themselves dozzing in a congested matatu due to the sheer (relative) comfort (not rickety). And the second pic you posted is not Kenyan. Such minivans (matatus) are required by law to have a yellow stripe and not any other color and they MUST belong to a SACCO, which is what the govt punishes in case of unbecoming behavior by a single member, which also keeps operators/owners on toes as no sacco wants its name tarnished by a danfo-looking matatu. And the dresscode, thats quite west african to say the least.

I'm not sure what you're seeing. If you paint those shiit yellow, they would easily pass for Danfo buses. And the errant picture you're talking about is from Uganda who apparently also call their buses "matatus". Nothing "West African" about it. In any case, regardless of whether they look better than Danfo buses, it was misleading trying to claim all matatus are like those pimped eyesores. And I'm not being churlish or ungracious or jealous or whatever (I dish out praise for friend or foe alike when it's merited) but all that pimping of those matatus is unsightly and juvenile and I hear many of them blare music like they're in some discotheque. Why not just drive a clean bus rather than trying too hard to be hipster and cool with ridiculous graffiti on your vehicles.
