Igbo's Don't Like Northerners? by lordsterlin(m): 12:14am On May 13, 2018
Took a taxi to Rigasa train station after work yesterday, was to return my young cousins back to Abuja.

It was chaos as the kids, jumped played, screamed and even fought in the taxi. On getting to the train station, both the driver and I offloaded our several luggages,I paid him and he left..

We joined the queue to purchase our tickets and on getting to my turn, after asking them to give me 5 tickets,I turned to my purse to pay and behold,it was gone, there was no purse!

I searched all our luggage, but couldn't find it,told the guy issuing the tickets to hold them for a while, that I'd be back.Took the kids to a corner and we all sat thinking of what to do.All my cash was in my purse and the purse was gone!

I got very worried, scared and confused,as I sat trying to hide my fear from the kids,I started making contacts, to get a solution. At this point I was only thinking of how to simply get back to my home in kaduna. I had decided to abandon the idea of traveling to Abuja.

The kids became impatient as they saw the train had started boarding, I told them,it was already filled up and we may have to return home to reschedule our trip for the next day. As kids will always be kids, they started screaming and crying.

My confusion got worse,in all the chaos I could barely think straight. As I sat there very worried and trying to think, a young man who was also on the queue boarding for Abuja, left his queue and came to me,he asked, what the problem was,and at this point before I could say there's no problem, the kids told him, they wanted to go home and I told them the train is already filled.

He came a bit closer and asked,Hajia what's the problem, you know the train isn't filled yet. As I still refused to say anything to him,he understood, went away and came back, and squeezed 5tickets in my hand and simply said, get up let's go!

I stood up in shock, my hands were shaking and tears just started rolling. He said, you don't trust me,because I wear a rosary around my neck? My name is Okechukwu, what's yours? I told him,he helped us with some of our luggage and we boarded!

Throughout the journey,I kept wondering, how a stranger could spend so much, selflessly.considering the fact that the train fares had been recently hiked! But he felt I wasn't relaxed,so he didn't even talk to me,he just kept playing with the kids.

On arrival,My uncle was waiting to pick us up at Idu train station. On seeing my uncle, I hurriedly rushed and told him what happened and asked him to pay the young man back and thank him too.

But to my surprise Okechukwu simply shook my uncle hands, refused to collect any money and left. My Uncle kept calling him,but he didn't even look back. I also wanted to ask for his contact, but I felt too shy and didn't want people to misunderstand my intentions.

Throughout the evening, I became restless and desperately wanted to find him,so i started searching for him on Facebook to identify his full names and photo. Just to say thank you again, but I've not been successful.

They say the Igbo's don't like the Northerners and vice versa, but yesterday, it was an igbo man, who came to my rescue.

Most Nigerians are good, warm hearted people.
God bless you sir Okechukwu, wherever you are.please inbox me,if you ever read this!

The Igbo's don't like Hausa story was fabricated by the media and fueled by incessant riots in the north targeting Christians who incidentally are mostly Igbo's. The issue of hate is told by a third party to keep the relationship between Hausa and Igbo's in a bad shape. But we will be alright.

Every tribe has its share of good and bad...

Most are not educated like you. They don't understand that the few parasites that orchestrate tribal hatred, especially against Igbos have a lot to gain politically, economically, and even socially just by blaming everything on Igbos falsely too.

Igbos hate cowardice and slavery. Anyone that kills or is willing to kill igbos to please the Fulani invaders (who were never Nigerians historically) are automatically enemies of Igbos. This applies also in politics and economics.

Igbos love free thinkers and not brainwashed people.

Now look at this story:
There was an Igbo pastor in the north who used to feed almajiris every Sunday as his ministry work. His wife will not just cook for his family but also for the destitute kids. When 2011 post election riot started, guess the first place those kids decided to go burn down? The pastors house.

They were so quick in burning down the mans house that one of the children got trapped in the fire and died in it. It was back then in 2011 that I gave up on Northerners.

Then you know nothing about who you like or don't. The said woman in this topic might still be a fulani identified as Hausa.

Hausa is more of a language than tribe.

Hausa and Fulani are the same, Hausa don't go about killing innocent people, Hausa don't go about destroying your farmland, Hausa don't go about dominating northern minorities in their own land.

Op thanks but want to clarify something about igbo and the hatred other tribe are labelling them. Firstly they do it out of jealousy and hatred for still seen igbos grow strong and progress even when they thought that igbos have been decimated in the war. Secondly igbos are mainly christian and Christians are teach to forgive one another no matter the religion or tribe your offender may come from unlike Muslim and thirdly do you think if igbos hate other tribe you will find them in any corner of Nigeria and the world doing business, dining and speaking the language and learning the culture of there host community? Point of correction igbo are the most detribalise tribe in the World not only in Nigeria .

I just love Igbo people wink

This is one of the few stories of how an Igbo can go out of their ways to help strangers, people without expecting anything in return!

People that can build a house for the homeless from the beginning to the end then give it out without looking back!

They are so selfless that if you are with them, irrespective of where you are from, you will feel at home!

Go to the the East, you will not know who is who until some one tells you, this is hausa or yoruba. They live so peaceful

An Igbo man is ready to fight his OWN brother for a yoruba or Hausa man if they senses he are being cheated!

No wonder they are blessed in anything they lay their hands upon!

I don't think they hate any tribe but the few individuals who is making living hard for others!

An average Igbo man just can't stand injustice!

They love Yaradua didn't they They complained about Buhari, didn't they Now judge for yourselves, were they wrong

Which of them served Nigeria well Their discerning gift is just too amazing to be ignored!

Kudos to you guys kiss

Very correct. An average Igbo man has no time for stupid tribal/religious hate. The only thing that matters to him, is how to make money. Yes some of us go extra miles by cheating or committing other crimes, to achieve there goal, which is totally wrong and unacceptable, but trust me other tribes are not left behind today. An Igbo man can cheat you, but he won't do it because you are a Yoruba or Hausa. An Igbo man can help you not minding weather you are Igbo or Hausa. The issue of tribalism doesn't manifest in there actions.

This is not about tribe, ethnicity or even race because in any group of people, we have both the good and the bad. There are Igbos that discriminate or have preconceived motions about Hausas or northerners in general(I won't use the hate, because it's too strong a word to use here). Same as we have Hausas or Northerners that discriminate or have preconceived notions about Igboes or Southerners in general.

We really need to start judging people based on their deeds and not tribe, ethnicity or religion. Btw, my mom is Igbo while dad is from the north so I've seen and experience both worlds.

Many people were killed during the the countless riots in the north, it wasn't just Igbos. People were killed purely based on religion. My family lost everything and my sisters only barely escaped with their lives even though we are northerners although Christians. Just as we had Hausas that also lost their lives and properties.

Don't make the riots just about Igbos.
