Hi all, saw a school I liked and looking at applying but the fees is 19,000+...postgraduate... If I am coming in as self sponsored, can I raise that money by working part time in Canada. Thank you. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Frankrobbn1: 4:20am On May 13, 2018 |
FKBZ:FKBZ, No! It's extremely difficult to raise 19,000$ while working part time (20 hours per week) during school sessions and full time (40 hours) during school breaks. You will still need an assistance from your sponsor to cater for your tuition, while you take care of your personal needs (house rents, feeding, transportation, books and all other living expenses) which is no joke in Canada, most especially your house rents which goes between the range of ($350- 700$ per month). Another big challenge is that getting a job as a first timer in Canada is very difficult, as most employers in Canada seek for employees with Canadian working experience before employing them. Many immigrants have this mindset that immediately they arrive Canada, they find a job straight up waiting for them... No! No!! It's not done. Most often you might be lucky to get a little paid jobs upon your arrival only if you've a friend or close relatives whom are already residing in Canada before you came in and will be of paramount assistance to help attach you somewhere for the main time while you go in search for a better paid jobs. Even as that, it's still not easy anyway. Endeavour to have this at back of your mind before travelling to Canada, so you don't get pissed off with what you see when you successfully land in CANADA. Lastly, being a self sponsored applicant you need to show funds at your disposal for the entire period of your stay in Canada. All the best! 3 Likes |

LadyW: Hello LadyW, how far did your PR application go? Ask the gurus if it's okay to apply for a study permit cos it may show dual intent - applying for TRV with a PR underway 1 Like |

Jewel80:There will be no need for his company's SOA if he has enough funds in his personal account. The company papers will explain the source of funds. |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by mcobex: 11:42am On May 13, 2018 |
Jewel80:I will advise he includes them as they show additional proof of funds(its never too much). Also, I will advise he pays your tuition fee and transfer your living expenses into your personal bank account(especially if he is a third party) or transfer both tuition and living expenses into your account if your school doesn't accept tuition fee until trv is approved. NB: All these is for funds alone, please make sure your work on other aspect of your application as well: how to tackle purpose of visit, home ties,..etc). 1 Like |

Frankrobbn1: Thanks for your input, from your experience how much naira equivalent do I need to have in my account before coming to Canada, taking into consideration any average university for postgraduate studies... This should cover tutition and feeding and house... Worst case scenario... Also in Nigeria I am a media consultant, more into brand management.. Media planning and buying and advertising as a whole... The goal is to relocate to Canada permanently, so peradventure I can't raise the money for postgraduate, do u think my experience can fit into express entry or skilled worker.. Or should I take short courses in Canada in media management and is it possible to get a job that through that means. Thanks |

tylerwill: Obviously, there is crowd at VSF lagos. The goodnews now is that the management of VFS has strategize the way of controlling the crowd. They open the gate at exactly 7:15am ..Everybody enters and form two lines.... One line for those who have come earlier and have their names documented.. While the other line will be for those who are just coming. The first timers put down their names and will be told to come the following day or another appointed day.. Just plan two days... |
