Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state has dismissed the fears that Buhari’s electoral value would diminish if the aggrieved members of the nPDP pull out of the ruling All Progressives Congress government. In an interview with State House correspondents in Abuja on Tuesday, El-Rufai said President Buhari would be re-elected, with or without the threatening former PDP members. “I don’t agree and I want to go back to 2003. What are we talking about? Who are these new PDP people that are threatening? This is Kwara, Kano, Sokoto, Adamawa, Rivers but I don’t think Amaechi is part of them. “So let’s take these four states, go back to 2003 and check. Buhari then under ANPP won in all these four states. Go back to 2007, Buhari won in these four states. Even when Shakarau was running as a presidential candidate in 2011, Buhari defeated him in Kano. “And, I have no doubt in my mind that even if the people threatening to leave, leave, it will have absolutely no impact on the presidential elections, the president will win Sokoto, Kwara and Adamawa easily. “Kano is already in the bag, I mean if you saw the crowd that welcome the president without the former governor Kwankwaso, Kano has always been the president’s base. The frenzied voting for Buhari in the North which was the primary catalyst for him winning the election is gone. He can't win swing South west again considering the squalid state of the economy. The Middle Belt is a no no considering the activities of his ethnic herdsmen whose actions he abhors but has handled the matter incompetently. I totally agree with him on this. The nPDP with the exception of Amaechi are just baggage to the APC yet they want a lot in the government. Saraki could not even pull 450k votes for APC in Kwara yet he is the Senate President today. APC ought to have been more selective in admitting some of them then. Whatever! If Buhari wins, then no need for election again in Nigeria because even my northern friend from Kano told me that Buhari is the worst leader he has ever seen. That Buhari disappointed him and everybody he knows. He said he regrets ever voting Buhari in 2015. So if Buhari wins, it is nothing but election rigging because it is very clear everywhere you go in Nigeria that Buhari's popularity has died and in fact it has turned to hatred and resentment.  The problem this administration is having is mostly down to the nPDP as most of them were known to be thieves but became saints cos they decamped then. Most of them still have pending trials but can't be prosecuted cos they're still in APC. I really wish they'd leave if that will make PMB more Pro active. |
