The 2017/2018 English premier league season is over and it saw Manchester City claiming the title racking up an overwhelming 100 points in the long run. But how do they stack up against the other previous champions. Since the inception of the premier league in 1992, here are Four outstanding premier league champions in no particular order.

Undefeated runs are often characterised by resilient defences, but Arsenal were an incredible attacking unit boasting the speed of Thierry Henry, the creativity of Dennis Bergkamp and reliable goalscoring on either flank from Freddie Ljungberg and Robert Pires.

Gilberto Silva and Patrick Vieira provided the strength often lacking at Arsenal over the last decade, while Sol Campbell was the only natural defender in a backline featuring Ashley Cole, Lauren and Kolo Toure – three players converted from more attacking positions by Arsene Wenger, summarising his emphasis upon technical skill. Jens Lehmann is remembered for his blunders, but in his debut Premier League campaign he simply didn’t lose all season.

Arsenal boasted the league’s best attack and its best defence; they could dominate possession and counter-attack brilliantly in turn.

Review: The 1998–99 season was the most successful season in the history of Manchester United Football Club . After finishing the previous season without winning any titles, United won a treble of trophies (the Premier League , FA Cup and UEFA Champions League), the first side in English football to achieve such a feat.

During the campaign United lost only five times, including a one-off Charity Shield fixture, in the League Cup against eventual winners Tottenham Hotspur and their only home defeat, a league match against Middlesbrough in December 1998.

Fergie's men remained undefeated from Boxing Day that season, picking up an incredible 48 points from a possible 60 on offer. And they did it all while successfully chasing FA Cup and Champions League glory.

To add to it all, United sealed the treble with a homegrown core of David Beckham , Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Phil Neville.

Review: Yes, this was a mightily expensively assembled group of players, but then when has money ever guaranteed success? Manchester City were expensively assembled in 2016/17 when they finished third, some 15 points behind champions Chelsea.

Pep Guardiola needed a second season to take this team to phenomenal new heights, crafting a dominant, aesthetically pleasing side which swept all before them. Well, almost: Liverpool vanquished them, as did Manchester United – their only two defeats – and then the Merseysiders did so again in the Champions League quarter-finals.

It is an asterisk against Man City’s season, certainly, but really shouldn’t detract from their domestic achievements over the course of an exceptional campaign. They hit the magical 100-point mark with a glorious lob from Gabriel Jesus in the 94th minute of their final match of the season – and celebrated like they’d won the title all over again.

When Mourinho arrived in English football in 2004, he was tasked with breaking up the Manchester United-Arsenal duopoly that had seen either of the pair finish as champions for nine seasons running.

Regardless of the billions at his disposal, courtesy of Chelsea owner Abramovich, it was a considerable task for a manager with no experience of the English game to turn the tide.

Come the end of 2004/05, however, Mourinho had made mincemeat out of his opponents. Chelsea lost just one game all season as they stormed to the Premier League title, finishing the campaign with a 12-point cushion at the top.

That was only half the story when it came to points, though. Mourinho's Chelsea smashed the points record for Premier League champions, finishing up with a whopping 95.

Had it not been for that solitary loss to Manchester City way back in October and a draw with Newcastle United on the final day, Chelsea would've recorded triple figures in 2004/05.

Here's my own take :
To all those non-indomie generation people like me that loved playing Mortal Kombat, you know the feeling you get after every 'Flawless' victory, it confirms that you weren't touched at all during the battle and I have to say, we all aimed towards achieving that feat whenever we played the game. You get where I'm going right? I guess so. Without much speech, the untouchable, undefeated, invincible, flawless team of Arsenal wins my vote.

It's not really about being an arsenal supporter or whatever, you just have to ask yourself, if being unbeaten in a season is not the goal for some clubs, why did Barcelona after having lifted the trophy, still struggle to make sure they win against levante?
Trust me, man city came close to being my number one but you just have to give it up for the only side with a golden EPL trophy till date. Let me spell it out for y'all.

most of the people who would comment are not familiar with the invincibles or the team by Manutd, so memory will be quite obscure.

Most will stick to the most recent teams where they can easily remember the events.

but judging by the statistical records, it seems manutd has the day.

I arrived at this because Man Utd also won 2 trophies that season,Man City and Chelsea both won 1trophy but since ManCity has more PL points then they come second then Chelsea 3rd and Arsenal who ddnt win any other trophy comes last.

A large percentage of the records that Manchester City broke this season was set by Chelsea.

The highest points total ever set by Chelsea, the highest goals scored in a single season set by Chelsea, the highest number of straight wins also set by Chelsea.

And they were all broken by city.

It is certainly the best EPL team of all time.
If Manchester City had won the champions league... They would have been considered to be the best.

Apart from the Arsenal Invincibles, I have never in my life seen an EPL team as good as this current Man City team. They were close to perfect!
