A team of surgeons led by the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yola, Professor Auwal Abubakar, has successfully separated four-month-old conjoined female twins. Professor Auwal disclosed the development to journalists at a news conference in Yola yesterday. “We have a successful separation of conjoined female twins (Omphilopagus),”he said, adding that the development was recorded following a team work by different medical units. He said the surgery was conducted on May 14, adding that the chances of survival of the twins were excellent. The director said it took his team four hours to perform the operation which was the second of its kind in the hospital. He noted that Nigeria had medical personnel that could compete with their counterparts in developed countries. The father of the twins, Muhammad Ramat from KasuwanShanu in Maiduguri, thanked the management of the hospital for paying the bills for the surgery. But they still sacrifice all these just to save lives. This goes to show that doctors can perform without johesu members, kindly note that those people in the picture are not nurses, they are all doctors and students. All the nurses, pharmacists and lab pple are on strike. Thunder fire johesu with their evil plan to kill Nigerians to achieve consultant and cmd title. Shey, pharmacists said they can do all, I can imagine a pharmacist conducting this operation. Seems they weren't allowed to lock pharmacy, lab and other vital equipment hence their strike is innefective over there. When hunger sets in, they will start suspending strike in some LGAs. I could remembered when I walked in into this theatre with my two legs but was lifeless after some hours. I give glory to God and these doctors for working tirelessly on me especially the Prof, he was playing with me while I was on oxygen before I was put to sleep and also to a nairalander that I've never met but gave me on the e-support and encouragement I needed.
