Doctors can never ever do it alone. There are many specialists aside nurses who they can't do without. Surgeons can't do their jobs and don't know how to do their jobs cos it's not part of their specialty. The thing is that at the end, especially in nigeria, only the Drs get all the praise

my dear my question is not too hard o..

tell me what and what is peculiar about nurse that a surgical operation can't be done without them....

Ure on a long thing bro .

Stop spreading falsehood, thats FMC Yola, there are no medical students there. Non of the universities in the entire state run a college of medical science. So where did medical students come.

If they are not medical students, they may be house officers or resident doctors who are there purposely to observe because I can remember very well, as a house officers back then, I entered theater but not to do the surgery but for observation unless the consultant asks me to wear gloves and assist him. BTW, why are you so bitter? Are you a member of the useless JOHESU that want to distort relativity?

my own is this is a public forum, don't mislead the public that doctor must need a nurse.. period..

nurse will only make the work easier for doctors, not that doctor can't do without them, doctor won't be the one to do the recording and Co but if worst come to worst, we take over..

trust we med student na...

in my school teaching hospital, surgical procedure is still going on and nurse are on strike expecting miracle.

that was how one pharmD said only surgery differentiate him from doctors and the gullible ones will take it.

simple clinical cases I gave him threw him off balance..

beside,

I'm not bitter bro. You sounded so sure that they are medical students and you are now saying they may be HOs or RDs. Stop guessing who they cos it's obvious you don't really know. By the way FMC Yola does not run a residency program. So stop displaying your ignorance

This goes to show that doctors can perform without johesu members, kindly note that those people in the picture are not nurses, they are all doctors and students. All the nurses, pharmacists and lab pple are on strike.

Thunder fire johesu with their evil plan to kill Nigerians to achieve consultant and cmd title. Shey, pharmacists said they can do all, I can imagine a pharmacist conducting this operation.

Seems they weren't allowed to lock pharmacy, lab and other vital equipment hence their strike is innefective over there. When hunger sets in, they will start suspending strike in some LGAs.

Useless people
You're a very bitter person. Your write up gave you in. Doctors are not the alpha & oméga of Nigeria's health sector. Somehow, others too have prominent roles to play in adequate health care delivery. Most of you guys are so filled with pride and funny enough, you don't know much about what you are trained in. I lost my first daughter because of a carefree doctor. Since then we have learned our lessons. We ask questions each time we go to hospital. Ask them probing questions, and then they get bitter. Another one nearly killed my 2nd daughter. I will forever be grateful to my wife for her smartness. After asking the nonentity several questions and was not satisfied, she resulted to google to know the dosage of the anti-malaria drug for a child of that age. There was a contradiction between what the doc gave and what she read on the net. So, she called my sister who is a nurse in uch, that one said the same the Google said. She even told her the girl's system will shut down if she administered the dosage. In order to be certain of what to do, she called her brother who is a doctor, what he said was in sync with what my sister and Google said.
For me o, I don't trust Nigerian doctors. They are not what they claimed they are. If a doc prescribes drugs for me, I will ask a nurse for his / her opinion, ask a pharmacist, ask another doc, and google to.

Why are you displaying your ignorance on public forum. Are you that dumb? You're a disgrace to your parents that spent money on you to send you to school of nursing....... Even, consultants neurosurgeon cannot do the work of endocrinologist or cardiologist. If Surgeons respect physician, it is a bloody nurse that will now disrespect them by calling them malaria and typhoid doctors? Do you know the number of patients being managed everyday for the complications of malaria and typhoid that you are talking about? Do you know that malaria and typhoid are still the commonest killers of children in Africa today and not conjoined twins? I pity you for your ignorance.
Most of you can't treat that malaria and typhoid well. I have seen a lot and so I know what I'm talking about. And before you screaming johesu or whatever you call them, I am too far from being a medical practitioner. I can't stand blood!

Sorry for your loss. I would like to state that its your right to know what treatment is being given to you or your ward, and I dont expect any doctor to be angry at your questions. Secondly its also your right to know the qualification and level of any doctor attending to you. Thirdly, I'll advice you be In the habit of patronizing reasonable structured hospitals and not some cheap private hospital or chemist that are flooded with quacks to avoid you coming here and blaming supposed doctors.

Na wao, why do you always sound bitter in life especially when issue of doctors is raised online, I understand you are a nurse, probably not not a Bsc holder because you don't always sound like someone that have passed through a university. You always sound as though you have been deprived of something vital in life, may be your ambition, you seem to be struggling to be happy. Its not yet late my dear, you can still achieve whatever you want to achieve and stop hating on doctors. Hypocrisy is when you hate on doctors but still run to them when you or any of your relatives are sick.

Are you scared?
You boasted about your brother training quacks in his hospital,
Tell me his address and leave the rest to me.
He will learn in a bitter way that he is into illegality,
When you train a quack nurse a.k.a auxiliaries, you put people lives at risk,
They are found mostly in private where there is no regulation of their activities,
You want your future wife to be left alone with them in the labour room?
Or can you allow them to give you injection,?
What does an auxiliary know about emergency nursing especially when doctors are not around,
Can an auxiliary nurse cope in intensive care nursing?
In rural primary health care centers where there are no or very little presence of doctors ,can an auxiliary work perform there,
That many of those PHC are existing are because of qualified and registered nurses.
What does an auxiliary know about child health?
Or ante natal management .
Can they carry out a sound epidemiological nursing management?
Even in labour room, can those auxiliary quacks handle minor complications,
I pity some pregnant women who allow these quacks to near them,
What do they know about principles of complicated wound management?
Do they know anything in toxicology?
Or can they understand anything in basic pharmacology.
Can they treat common ailments?
Or can they nurse a patient with a life threatening condition?

I can go on and on.
They are QUACKS!
There is a reason it is called Nursing science.
And it is offered fully in the University.
.
many of these auxiliary quacks will go on and open a small chemist store, where they will be treating innocent people in a quack way,
Do you know how many people they have send to the grave?

.
Tell me your brother address and watch my next move
Stop sounding as though it is a criminal offence in Nigeria to train auxillary nurses in private hospitals to do the mechanical work that you people do. I understand that these group of people equally pose a threat to your existence because they tend to struggle with you guys in the labour market. You don't need an address just walk into any private hospital or even maternity owned by midwives and see auxillaries been trained there. You are always online on nairaland sounding bitter. I just hope you gainfully employed or rather happily married, because if you are, you won't always have this time to be online expressing your aggression.

Whenever the issue of doctors is raised, people like you are always in a haste to jump out from there cocoon and start masturbating with it because it gives you a rare kind of orgasm you hardly experience from your spouse, its quite understandable anyway. When I was in the university we use to have this mentality that law students and engineering students are too proud, and funny enough some of us avoided them until I came very close to many of them and discovered that it was inferiority complex at work. They were not trained to be proud, they were only being very confident and authoritative, even though some were still very arrogant, but it was just there nature and had nothing to do with there career.Same goes with medical doctors. Funny enough, when people meet tye dr from afar, they see him as a very proud person, and any step you take is seen as such, and they want you to stoop so low to please them, it doesnt happen that way, when you decide to suffer from inferiority complex, the other person will automatically develop superiority complex. People like you that have decided to have so much hatred for doctors even though you desire that your child will grow up to become one, will never present to the hospital in time but will keep on jumping from one chemist shop to another patronising quacks, when the case gets complicated, you will start expecting the doctor to do magic at odd hours with little or no facilities that your government has failed to provide, and I am sure you can't afford to visit a standard private hospital because, if you can, you wont be here typing trash.

There is nothing wrong in a doctor referencing a literature in his phone or internet to check up the dosage of a drug or what so ever, especially when the dr is still fresh in practice. There are over hundreds of millions of drug dosages on earth and more come out everyday, so what is the big deal there.Or you expect him to cram all of them, it takes consistent use of some of those drugs to have the dosages of head for different age groups especially in paediatric cases. Is it not better that he checked up the dosage or reference a source to be sure instead of trying to be smart and do the wrong thing? For your information there is no heroism in medical practice.A good Dr is that Dr that knows his limits and knows when to pass the bucks. And, your child is sick and you have decided may be to visit a much younger Dr if at all the person you visited is a Dr and you are complaining that he is not experienced, why not visit a paediatrician, or a much older doctor or you couldn't afford it? I understand your problem.medicine is too versed, it is too versed my dear, it takes you to be dear to understand, forget about d so much noise being made abt malaria and typhoid, most of these malaria and typhoid patients diagnosed by people that also masqurade themselves as drs because that is the only diagnosis they know later come back to the doctor for adequate diagnosis and treatment except if the illness is self limiting. For your information no doctor knows it all or claims to know it all, please don't mistake there confidence for pride or arrogance. However, next time you can as well visit google to get treatment for your child instead of visiting the doctor, or even call ur relative abroad who may be a hospital attendant masqurading herself as a dr to you.
