Kelechi Nwakali and Usman Mohammed are good enough for Super Eagles - Tijani Babaginda
By Samuel Ahmadu

Following their superb goals against Atletico Madrid, the former Super Eagles winger feels the duo deserve a chance in Gernot Rohr's side

Former Nigeria winger, Tijani Babaginda considers Kelechi Nwakali and Usman Mohammed ripe for the senior team following their brilliant displays against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.

Top quality goals from Nwakali and Mohammed lit up what was, in the end, a 3-2 loss to Diego Simeone's side at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium,

And the Atlanta 96 Olympic gold medalist who lauded the duo is, however, confident they would be considered in the future by Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr.

"[Nigeria] boys did very well and made us proud against Atletico Madrid," Babaginda told Goal.
"Few players in the team showed the [Gernot Rohr] that they are as good and mature enough as those in the main team.
"They will be giving the coach a lot of headaches but the good thing is that the coach may have penciled down the names of some of them for his future plans.
"I think [Kelechi] Nwakali and [Usman] Mohammed did very well. I believe they also merit being part of the team preparation for Russia and should possibly play in some of the friendlies.
"For both players to score those kinds of goals, they deserved some accolades and to be rewarded too. The good thing is that few players have been noticed by the coach

"So for sure, they will be in his future plan and whenever their names pump up, he will definitely not think twice before giving them a chance to showcase their talents."

Yes nwakali is not good enough for SE no doubt but he is not a striker he is a central midfielder so how many goals do you want him to score ?

He played 30 games this season with 5 goals and 2 assist,so you want him to score as a striker ?

If this is the way you think stop watching football and stick to hockey...#anothermanwithnoclue#

Biko.. tell them. I've seen Kelechi Nwakali play up close in Eziobodo. Trust me, he will get better. But he is doing fabulously well for his age..

hmmm interesting simy nwankwo performed better than ogbeche during his time so his call up is understandable. ''what how dare you don't you know ogbeche played with ronaldinho, okocha, hessenesy sorry i mean heinze'' kayode performed better than k. nwakili ''what egbon don't you know kelechi trains with ozil, sanchez and ramsey'' abi no be so based on your logic?

forgiveness:

Did Kelechi Nwakali flop or not? grin

How come with his 9 games and 1 goal, he was demoted to a lower division 2?

At least, the flopped Kayode made the la Liga team of the week with the likes of Messi and co, and later moved to a bigger club where he made the player of the month in a team Taison and Fred going to the world Cup plays. grin

At least, that flop is better. grin

nwakali dropping to the dutch 2nd division wasn't because he was a terrible player but for more playing time which will aid his development which was the main reason arsenal loaned him out. if this kid is not good i see no reason wenger will offer him a contract after monitoring him closely when he first trained with arsenal. also remember dutch giants ajax amsterdam where ready to cough out over a million euro to sign him before he opted to join arsenal instead. the likes of troost ekong and balogun once played in the dutch and german 2nd tier before climbing to the main league.

kayode also made name for himself in the Austrian league but the move to man city wasn't the best when Newcastle was ready to offer him first team football in the epl which would have made him too attractive to be ignored by rohr. his all action style of play with his pace would have made him an instant hit in England if he joined Newcastle but the lure of being a man city player didn't go well as he thought. he still have lots of time to still come back to reckoning because he is still young. a permanent move to schaktar doneskt will be ideal for him to relaunch his career
forgiveness:

This is coming from someone who defended and clarified Kelechi Nwakali's position but can't tell us what position Kayode played. grin

See him trying to put down his team of the week performance just to prove a point.

Thank God you are not those who deemed him good enough to make the list and noticed his ability else you have joined that Icon to scream, na amala boy, e will rub us with ewedu hence commot am for list. grin

Where did they loan him to? A division 2 club in the Dutch league.

Where you not one of those that mocked Kayode when you heard a rumor he was living la Liga for Amiens claiming because he was not good enough but surprisingly shocked to see him moved to Shakhtar Donetsk were you also claimed he was not going to see game time?
grin

For your information, Kayode made the player of the month ahead of those players in Shakhter Donetsk. Sorry. grin

You miss the point.

What has been Balogun performance over the last 7/8 years in the German league system❓

He was struggling on the bench at Mainz a team thats been romancing relegation. So do you think he will now come to the EPL and tear it up.

You can not be a mouse in London then turn to Lion when you reach Lagos. Not likely.

After the match he made MOTM and la Liga team of the week, did he start the next match?

How many matches did he play afterwards before he left for Shakhtar Donetsk? Just 3 and he didn't play those matches as a striker rather S/S.

He played all all his matches from the wings or as a SS. Not striker.

So, how he flopped, I don't understand?

Oga! It was a known fact that Kayode demanded for transfer in January which added to his problem but later moved to Shakhtar Donetsk in April where he made an impact that saw him made the player of the month with the likes of Taison and Fred.

Look at the snapshot, after the two assists that got him the MOTM and team of the week, he was no longer in the team for no just reason. How can we say that is flop?

Forget the CF attached to him because I watched almost all the matches but he never played as a striker.

And by the way, 5 goals per season isn't bad for an attacking midfielder. Kelechi Nwakali is NOT a striker.

New signing Leon Balogun reveals inspiration to Brighton and Hove Albion move
By Tolu Olasoji, Deputy Editor Nigeria

The defender disclosed that the Seagulls' journey to the top-flight and how they adapted last season was motivating enough for a switch

Brighton and Hove Albion's journey to reaching the English Premier League and maintaining that status was enough to convince Leon Balogun to become the club's first summer signing.
The defender fulfilled his 'dream' of turning out in the English top-flight after agreeing to a two-year deal with the Seagulls - who finished 15th in 2017-18 campaign - as a free transfer after his contract with Mainz 05 expired.

“I always had a dream to play in the Premier League, and Brighton was one of the first teams to show an interest in me," Balogun told club website.
“I’ve been following English football as much as I can in Germany, and I saw how they got promoted from the Championship.

“I liked the way they played last season in the Premier League too and how they were able to maintain their status. It’s really impressive how they work, not just as individuals, but as a team too.”

Balogun links up with Pascal Gross who settled well at Brighton after also arriving from Germany [FC Ingolstadt 04] last summer.
The attacking midfielder scored seven goals and provided eight assists in the league and was named the club's Player of the Season.

“I know Pascal Gross. The fans have voted him player of the season and I think he did a brilliant job in Germany.
“He’s not the fastest player, but he’s very intelligent and can play with his left foot and right foot too He runs a lot and works hard for the team.
“I just met the manager [Chris Hughton] and spoke to him on the phone once. He seems like a real gentleman, who is very calm, polite and knows exactly what he wants to do.
“You can see that in the way in which the team performed throughout the season.”

Ever since his career started, the 29-year-old has remained in Germany. However, the Nigeria international is anticipating the changes and challenges expected from a 'more competitive' English top-flight.

“I think the Premier League is more competitive. The Bundesliga is probably the most comparable to the Premier League.
“Every footballer wants to compete and I think that’s the biggest challenge. It’s more physical, which I personally like. It’s a bit quicker as well and the individual quality in each team is on another level in comparison to the Bundesliga.
“This is my first club outside of Germany, so there will be a lot of new stuff to adapt to, but I am looking forward to this new experience.”

That's the thing I think he loves the Agbo sef. He never plays but yet we have never heard a peep from him and he must have good body language on the bench.
Not every player would be comfortable sitting on the bench and waiting for their moment that may never come. He must play really good during training for Rohr to believe he has a use to the team and we must not forget that he has played seasons in la liga and Rohr may be counting on that experience.

Let me give you the cold face truth. Rohr doesn't fancy Kayode just like he doesn't fancy Henry. At the end of the day we have to respect the decision. I can tell you that before the olympics and especially CHAN I was pissed off at our coaches no be small but I had to quickly get myself together and support the teams selected.

I liked every single one of Kayode's performances at Girona but the coach already had an 11 that he trusted and the goals just didn't want to come.
This Kayode's exclusion from the team pains him to the bones. It's obvious Rohr doesn't fancy those two players you mentioned. I think they are the ones he referred to as headless chickens.
One's support should be to the team. This wailing is really annoying and exhausting. I'm even beginning to have a kind of perverse delight that Kayode wasn't taken. Not because I don't like him(I'm actually indifferent towards the guy) but because of this omega status he seems to have as in like the team should be Kayode and if there's no Kayode then no team. I find such very disturbing.

Coach has made his choice. 90% pass mark. Let's support out team. This wailing is becoming petty and irritating to say the least.
