You are the only race that cannot fix your continent because you have refused to take responsibility.
If Jim Ovia, Wole Soyinka, Ambode, Soludo, Elumelu etc had run away where would we be.
Take responsibility and lead. Human beings developed Europe and America.
At an age when young men should be planning how to become a governors or CEOs, they are content to be refugees.

All of those you mentioned traveled abroad for their undergraduate or post graduate studies. Because they understand that there is better than here. Why didn't they spend their entire lives in Nigeria under the guise of blind patriotism. I bet they would have been lost in oblivion just like millions of Nigerian graduates trying to find their footing in life.

Why are you people discouraging us from travelling? It is better to weep in Canada than to laugh in this shi*thole country.

Remember they pay your kids 1000 canadian Dollars each per month.

Lies my dear...such thing doesnt happen over there....And most of you still think that jobs full everywhere for canada hmm y'all need to come here and see things for yourselves...Citizens here go for job interviews everyday but they dont get at the end

doing odd jobs is a step to better job
I tell people get a security job in location that are not busy the pay might not be the same for a busy place
IF you can get 600pm to 12am better
Go to school and read your books at your security job
It does pay off

The moment I step into London, the first thing I always wanna do is get on an underground train and marvel at a century old technology .I have done this consistently since I was a teenager,so maybe London or the West has lost its allure.London,Chicago or Dubai dont excite me anymore, because they are the achievements of other people. What happened to our own God given ability to create?
I am so excited whenever I see those train tracks approaching Marina, that is our own, no matter how medieval our own technology is.Going abroad to hustle is like a very talented artist always staying in galleries admiring the works of other artists instead of creating his own. When will other people come to admire his own works.Sadly we have become a nation of migrants going anywhere that is not Naija including Guam,Fiji and Suriname.Sadly we dont even integrate well with our adopted homelands as we still crave naija food ,attend naija churches and generally still cluster in groups where we can still behave like we do in naija. If you dont believe me,spend enough time in Peckham or Hackney in London and you just might see someone driving one way or begging you for money in yoruba.
Can we be friends?

A Nigerian man @dijiaderoGBA on Twitter has taken to the micro-blogging platform to narrates the story of his friend who left Nigeria for Canada a week ago wept on phone when he called him because he felt that he has wasted 25 years of his life in Nigeria.

Read the tweets full tweets below;
"~ A friend of mine just left Nigeria for Canada last week. Just got off the phone with him & I was surprised when man started crying & I asked why he was doing that & he said “I feel like I wasted 25years of my life in Nigeria”

Oh Nigeria, what have we done to deserve all these?

~ Let me say this in pidgin “If you never reach another man’s farm, you no go know say person farm big pass your own”

Hopefully, Nigeria will be a better country for us all but really, seems we aren’t enjoying anything in this Nation."

You are not crazy, you are doing fine for yourself. If you are gainfully employed or you make money through business you will enjoy Nigeria.

I just look at people that condemn those traveling out. They should understand that not everyone will venture into business, we can't all be entrepreneurs. Some will prefer 8-4 jobs. Even majority of the SME in the country are not doing well.

Example after my graduation from the university I couldn't get a job so I started a business, in the process I lost close to all of my capitals and also had to pay back some debt, though am not discouraged but the only positive option I see now is to travel to Australia or Canada then I can think of coming back to invest after I have made money.

Note - in the period I come back to invest in Nigeria my children will never come here to live with me never will that happen.
And moreover the only business that has 98% success rate in Nigeria is CHURCH business, you have easy access to bank loan, you can confirm this from the RCCG franchise.

I really don't see Nigeria getting better anytime soon and I have to do what it takes to live a comfortable life with my family.
Yea

I had to adapt to the s.hithole

And i fell in love with it eventually

Raising kids here is another thing tho

When I get to that bridge ...

Soludo had all of his education in Nigeria but I see your larger point.
My argument is that relocating permanently is not a solution for society even if it is a solution for a few individuals ( Harsh as it may sound, most Nigerian graduates are functionally illiterate. Is this their fault ? No. Can they do something about it ? Yes.
In many disciplines, one can get an excellent education online through moocs at a fraction of the cost). The focus on the individual rather than the greater good is the reason why we are in this quagmire.

You speak of 'blind patriotism'. I see some people taking their place in the world and not volunteering themselves as a second wave of slaves and second class citizens.

Every generation in every nation is called upon to solve a problem. It's that simple. In Europe and America a generation battled Hitler and his allies, in Asia Mao and Ho Chi Min battled foreign invaders, in South Africa ANC and Mandela's group overthrew apartheid, in the 40s and 50s Nigerian nationalists fought for Independence. In the 60s our fathers fought (and lost) the civil war but they did not lose their pride. In the 90s we battled the military.
The task before this generation is to institute good governance, kill corruption and eradicate poverty.

Do you realize that ONE wave of sustained national rioting is capable of resetting Nigeria ? Why does this generation not see that as an option ?

Talk about the parable of the cave.
