Nice move. Since he loves nigeria so much, confine him to Nigeria by flooding all surrounding countries with cheaper and better cement

My igbo brothers can brag for Africa!! First of all, Ibeto caused his own downfall. Had it been he keyed into OBJ's backward integration policy for the Cement industry, his story would have been a lot different.
I could remember when OBJ called all stakeholder in the Cement business including the likes of Dangote, BUA, Lafarge and Ibeto to announce the new the policy direction, Ibeto felt it's just another Govt. Hogwash.

While Dangote and others began acquiring defunct Cement plants like the one in Gboko to revamp it and mine the limestones locally, Ibeto felt it was a whole lot easier for him to import the 'clinkers' and simply process it in his factory at Portharcourt. Dangote and BUA followed Govt new policy and began investing in backward integration. I could remember when OBJ gave all of the players a timeline to execute this policy. Dangote felt he could not be investing so much in BIP while his competitors will simply flout the policy to continue to import the clinker, process it and they'll all sell to the same market. OBJ assured Dangote that his investment in BIP would not be in vain because he was helping the govt in conserving forex.
Obj reminded Ibeto of the policy they all agreed to in 2003 only for Ibeto to pay lip service promising to look into the policy

It dawned on Ibeto when OBJ decided to take punitive measures against him for flouting the BIP(Backward intervention plan) only for Ibeto to cry 'witch-hunt' that Obj is targeting him because he's igbo.
Anyway to cut the long story short, Dangote took advantage of the punitive measure against his direct rival to build the biggest Cement plant in Africa and that was his story changed for good. Ibeto should thanks his stars that Yaradua had pity on him.

This is a great strategic Foreign Direct Investment that will be beneficial to the growth index of Ibeto asset class on the long term. Equity Partnership with a USA publicly traded corporation is a win-win standard for Emerging Markets unlike Dangote's foray into the global stock market as a local brand from a third world country. There are no assurances on such ventures irrespective of business acumen as major players will erode every progress made. Every grounded investor with the understanding of international play knows the underlying fundamentals. I have mostly questioned Dangote's understanding of global business terrain when it comes to Wall Street.

On the growth curve, corporations from emerging markets must loose irrespective of the financial mechanics of the rampaging bull or bear coming out of hybernation if any one follows Dangote's template.

Regarding Ibeto, this is the first time I have seen a Nigerian business make a strategic win-win move. I just hope the deal structure is based on convertible bonds to ensure Long Term capacity building and profiteering.

I give this a thumps up.

Your gist sound so very straightforward and logical but that your backward integration policy was laced with nepotism. I believe strongly that if Dangote was in Ibetos position Obj government would have delayed the policy a bit. But no the person affected is from the wrong side of Nigeria. Government policies are not made in isolation. You must carry the operators along. In this case there are not even many in the business. Do you know the positive effect on employment we have lost as a country because of Ibetos misfortune.

As usual you have used alot of big grammar with plenty financial terms that are incoherent and mean nothing but will of course brain wash a lay man.

Tell me how covertible bonds, long term capacity building and profiteering(which has a negative conotation)all fit into one sentence.

Back to the matter, for those who follow news well, Milost has been in the new recently for all shades of bad!

They tried to invest in japaul oil, unity bank and even resort savings but the transactions didn't scale through as there were issues around due diligence bordering on the investor. Some even say that Milost is a conduit pipe for money laundering just as they have said same for the online trading platforms like jumia and konga

I don't have much details about the deal yet but let watch and see as events unfold

Ibeto will hold down the south east and make inroads into the south south . No doubt . Dan keeps the rest of the country in rancorous partnership with others like the BUA group

At the end everybody will be happy if greed is curtailed amongst them.

Ibeto made a very deft move with this one .... certainly from experience of what he suffered in the hands of OBJ ..... now he has the American heavily invested in his empire... shut it down without good reason and have yourself a tea party with American investors and lobbyist in the White House

The first puncture to this half truth is that a Nigerian court has awarded billions of naira as compensation to Ibeto against the government for flouting their own rule. You can check online for the story and the person who is fighting the case in court right now for Ibeto not to be paid is dangote....yes he has gone to court to challenge the judgement in which he is not a party to but a stakeholder in the industry.

Expatriates working for Ibeto were bundled into an aircraft from Port Harcourt, taken to Lagos and given seventy two hours to leaven nigeria even though they had working permit... Read the story online

On both sides, for example they signed a 1 billion dollar deal with unity bank asking them to delist from the Nigerian stock market based on desk top due diligence alone! They also engineering the pump and dump stock trade for japaul oil recently costing Nigerian investors losses amounting to billions of naira.

I suggest you search the internet for news on several botched Nigerian deals from them

Also it's easy to sign commitment documents which is what is has been done in this case but execution which I doubt will happen is the main thing.

As I mentioned earlier let's watch and see.

There is no substance to what he wrote...check the report of the national assembly under OBj on the issue, check the records of the court against the government of Nigeria.

OBJ gave dangote the leverage to Trump his competition without fight. There was no level Playford under OBj for investors. It was Yaradua....a man on justice......who released Ibeto cement to carry on with his business having checked the records.

Object that gifted a telecommunications license to the same man which has he in turn sold to Etisalat for over 200m dollars.

Alright but Ibeto is looking beyond Milost as they have already acquired a traded company to enable them list through chagrin of name in the US market..... Then, as for their deal with the Milost group, I believe it is more for the global announcement and visibility it gives to the brand than even the funding.

If Milost acquires and dumps his 500m dollar equity or 350m dollar debt what is it to Ibeto? The Milost brand has already been used to whitewash the brand Ibeto in America with good advisory like Pale...they can profit wither way

Before you call this half-truth, go and read about the BIP for the Cement industry introduced sometime BTW 2003 and 2004. Use the services of Google. I'm igbo too before u tag me an 'Afonja' but when I see d truth I say it. It might true Ibeto was really mistreated by OBJ but his mistreatment was certainly not that he was 'igbo' it was a flagrant disregard of the policy he (Ibeto) aswell as other players appended their signature to.
Dangote, being a capitalist just took advantage of his competitor's travail to build a Cement empire. Had it been Ibeto showed some form of commitment to BIP, OBJ would not have come down heavily on him. I'm sure he'd have given Dangote a run for his money.
