I wasted a lot of time on the internet.

I spent probably 20,000 hours scrolling mindlessly through social media. I absorbed stupid tv shows such as ‘The Kardashians’ like it was my religion.

I binged on Korean dramas, posted selfie after selfie and proclaimed myself as a ‘keyboard warrior’.

In the end, I did not gain anything useful from it. I subconsciously programmed myself to become brain dead.

I had a short attention span for everything, I lacked any general knowledge, whatever political issue was going on, I did not bother with it.

It wasn’t until two years ago when I had to take a hard look at myself. Did I have any skills? None.

I did not even have people skills despite spending so much time, ‘socializing’ on the internet.

The biggest problem of all was that I was constantly on a ‘validation high’. The internet had made everything so accessible.

This constant high ultimately affected the way I approached difficult obstacles in my life. If I did not get the result that I wanted, I would blame everything but myself. I was an entitled bitch.

Now that I have limited my social media viewings to only once a day, my life has improved so much. How I wish that my parents had taken away my phone and laptop when I was younger.
