Bad Gang - I agree

Touch Screen Error & Inexperience - I disagree.

He called to confirm I am at the location, saw the car drove in, then he head out immediately after starting the trip.

So Na Bad Gang (I assumed)
Absolute fraud. Taxify has warned several times do not start d trip when u haven’t picked up d rider. Even at training in their office they inculcate this to new drivers. But some would choose to go d bad way, By the time their account is blocked they be like......

You're right about the starting trip by mistake, when I just started it happened to me, I was going to cancel the trip but that pop up that asks do you want to start trip just appeared, Na so I press green o. So it's quite possible to start a trip in error. That's another design blunder in the taxify driver app

omonla10:
truly it can be Inexperience or touch screen error.. It has happened to me more than twice.. When it's already on arrived. After 3 mins it brings a pop up "do u want to start d ride?" and ignorantly while trying to cancel d ride or slide d arrived button again, you start the ride.. I always get 1 star for this though..

Lol @ the highlighted. I used it to capture enough vehicles online. I was curious to know if there can be so many drivers so early on a Monday morning.

Don’t mind the human being trying to play smart with me jare.

I learnt on this thread that he probably use my trip to chase or complete Taxify promo.

Honestly is always the best policy. Being dubious doesn’t favours anybody.

Yes mistake do happen, but admitting it and apologizing for the mistake comes with peace of mind. Yes, the rider you start his/her trip before he/she board your car will be furious about it but coming to pick him/her with apology for the mistake and offering a discount at the end of the trip might get you more than a 5 star.

The truth is the rider would be angry or probably mad that you’re trying to cheat him/her, but believe with deep apology and discount the rider would probably have change of mind except he/she Na wicked someborri (The Rider).

Happened to be once, the rider was furious and felt I wanted to cheat her. I just asked her where she was going and offered her a free ride.

She was shocked, and was like 'really?'. I got 5 star rating from her and she asked me if she could book me for offline trips and refer her friends too.

As with all things taxify, prepare your mind for delay. You might be lucky and it's attended to promptly, but from my experience it was delayed for weeks before it was eventually cleared because I didn't want to visit their office too

Mine was in the default 2km radius. What I've found is that a lot of drivers work overnight on Sundays so they rest on monday

Abeg you guys should cut the driver some slacks, it could be a mistake. It happened to me when I started newly. I got a request at one event centre at ikeja and arrived there but it was an error, in the process of dragging with the street boys who were demanding for 500 parking fee, I mistakenly started the trip and since it was a cash trip, I called the lady and tried to explain promising I would leave some change for her,she refused. She demanded I end the trip which I did and she rated me 1 star, reported me to Uber. Uber sent me a text about the report and I replied. They later replied that my report has been accepted and that my rating has improved. ...which didn't, but the report was expunged sha.

After she cancelled, I saw other drivers hovering there looking for the event centre, one even came to ask for the same event centre which was kinda hidden from the road behind another event centre.

As per ending a trip from rider, that's absolute fallacy, the rider cannot end a ride that has been started.
Well what people project is what they attract, if you think people are out to cheat you, you will attract cheats. Enough of this demonising of drivers from every Dick and Harry.
Are there bad drivers? Yes but I wonder what one gains driving to you and ending the trip when he could gain more driving you, in fact you ending the trip as a rider doesn't make sense. Try something better or better rearticulate your thoughts.
I feel u bro. I also drive.

Haba ........laughing...The person must be wicked.

That's how a rider took me to buy big house door and wanted to put it ontop of my car roof..

He looked at me and the car and requested for another vehicle to carry the door.

Some rider can push shit to you, but always be blunt with your BIG NO.....

It's quite possible bro. A rider has cancelled a trip on me before. She said she needs to book uber for another person. We just continued the trip offline.

Codeine Diet or Protein Diet? grin

And please do enlighten me why a driver would start a trip before getting to his/her rider?

Might be a mistake. Happened to me like twice now. When I slide the 'arriving now' button, the 'start trip' button slides with it and the trip starts.

Very possible on uber. Uber rider ended a trip on me after I had a flat tyre without waiting for me to end the trip from my phone

Boss, the driver and Taxify would be able to answer your questions.

What I know is, the driver start the trip without showing up at pick up point and the trip was canceled without any payment either to my card or added to the next trip I completed after the dubious driver start trip without showing up.

Do find attached screenshot. The driver would be able to explain how he get paid.

OK, the driver started and ended your trip. Not that you cancelled the trip. It was I cash trip, but since your where not on d ride you can't pay for service not rendered.

It could have been an unintentional mistake on the part of the driver.

I have experienced this both as a driver and rider.

I have mistakenly started and ended a surge trip once, lucky for me the surge was still there when the rider requested again. If it's a card trip u can either refund the rider the 400 in cash or negotiate to end the ride some few kilometers away from destination just to compensate them and make them happy. But if it's a card trip and the driver never showed up eventually, then you 400 is gone. You know what to do.

One lady has requested me like that before on Taxify. I was hurrying out of Island around 4:30pm when her request came in. Calling her, she told me one long story of how her car is not starting inside Walter Carington, and that I should start the trip and start coming; she wants to use my battery to jumpstart hers. I was already at MUSON, about to climb 3rdMB. I just told her my car brainbox will reset if I disconnect the battery, and drove on.
I could have turned around to help her, but I had a feeling, from her commanding tone, she was one of these "entitled" people who will feel they are doing you a favour
