In my opinion, its risky considering the distance about 900miles (that's like 5days of his regular trips in lagos). I will also suggest that the car be taken for checks with your mechanic when he returns, major part of the trip will be through bad roads.

Moreso how long will the trip last? If he returns before the week runs out will the car be on the road for the remainder of the week?

Haba! Lagos to abuja is about 328miles (less than 780km) and you can cover that in 2dats regular trips within Lagos if your average daily earns is 17k to22k

Due to the bad road. Pls check the car when he returns. Besides the driver is not meant to take the car out side Lagos/Ogun without partner's consent as stated in every/most agreement on both rentals n HP.

Pls use Google to calculate distance from pickup to destination. (Km x 65 = ? ) + ( time × 10 = ?) + (base fare 400)Then charge the rider. When you leave the location and ve a good reception . end the trip and do a fare review to Taxify.

Eg: ikoyi to ipaja covers 48km in 72mins

48km x 65) + ( 72 x 10) + ( base fare #400)= 4300

During surge .. Multiply total by surge.

Eg surge 1.8x.

4300 x 1.8 = 7750 naira

A new driver that doesn't know Jack about cars, what does he know he's testing apart from just moving the car around. Owners should just try and be sincere about the condition of their cars

It's true, partners should be honest about the condition of their cars.
But in case they are not, drivers too should know a little about cars.
At least he must know enough to do basic checks, otherwise how will he take care of the car. A driver that has to go to mechanic to top up windshield wiper fluid might not do so well in the business. I'm just saying.

My point? It is not enough of an excuse that he doesn't know. 15,000 -35,000 security deposit is not small money.
He must carry out enough checks that will make him confident enough to drop that amount for an opportunity to make cash with the vehicle.

If he is not convinced, he holds on to his cash and looks for the next serious partner who has everything ready.

I assure you, a lot of partners with very good cars are willing to drop their non-performing drivers right this moment for drivers coming in with security deposits.

With money in hand, you just have to find the right deal.

About not knowing places, Google maps will guide you with about 90% accuracy, the rest you have to use social engineering to figure out.

To all potential / uber investors out there or currant ones.. I will speak in parables... " assurance, assurance, assurance". Don't joke with it ... it is the best way to go , it will not solve all your problems ...but it will reduce your risk. It is like getting insurance for your car... I speak in parable people... I speak in parable.. Those that fail to learn from others , will have the themselves to blame... I speak in parables again... I gain nothing from warning people on the forum.. And car owners fix your car up for "assurance"...

Maybe the driver should find another line of work.. People need to know what they are getting themselves into, especially if money is involve

You are contradicting yourself.

Bros, how I contradict myself.

Driving the car during vehicle inspection and telling car owner you want to test drive the car for a whole day or week are different things.

Even if you wan buy car either pristine tokunbo or Naija used, after mechanic inspection, una go test drive the car before payment but not a whole day test driving.
