Fools, but why should the pastor be the one to dictate the treatment of an unconscious stroke patient? Who has time for that?
If those who brought the man to the hospital were not ready to have him treated, why bother coming to the hospital in the first place? Why didn't they take him to the pastor to treat him straight away?
Nonsense.
Anyway, that doesn't mean the man wouldn't have still died even if they had started treatment but at least they would have given it a shot.

It might have been a bleed.
This is a genuine question, but how often do they run their CT scans in all these teaching hospitals in Nigeria? For example, how soon can an emergency stroke case like this have a CT on arrival at the hospital? You can't start thrombolysis till you exclude a bleed, or do they just do that? I know some infarcts don't show immediately on CT but bleeds do.
I fear CT scans don't work that often in the teaching hospitals, but i may be wrong sha.
What do you think?

Once the patient presents with vital signs of a stroke attack, CT scan can be done after the patient is thrombolysed.

That 3 - 4. 5 hour window is very important.........

A stroke patient who was rushed into a hospital gave up the ghost after the spouse pastor stopped the doctor from Injecting him.

It was posted by the doctor on Twitter @trending_medic.

He Wrote:
Stroke patient came in unconscious , we can't do anything because the patient's wife's Pastor said if Stroke patients take injections they'll finally die.
Pastor's number is going through to give us consent. This man doesn't have One hour to live but we're helpless. Tick Tock

UPDATE: Patient's spouse has given me a list of tablets to give him. The Pastor recommended it. I've politely pointed out that the patient is unconscious and can't take any tablets, besides its all multivitamins, aloe vera and stuff and it won't do much good. Tick Tock

UPDATE : Pastor finally picked his call, said we shouldn't do anything till he comes. Doubt if he did biology sef in WAEC but he's the chief consultant now. Other sick patients are legit begging this woman, unreal stuff while I pinch myself at 5mins interval, this is real

Final Update : Patient has absent pulse, nil breath sounds, absent heart beat, pupils fixed and dilated, resuscitation attempted and failed. Patient's dead.
Pastor came late which is kind of a relief because they would have said the injections killed the man. Man's not had breakfast cos of this. Anyways not a single dry eye right here

https://correctbae.ng/2018/05/30/stroke-patient-dies-in-lagos-after-pastor-stopped-him-from-taking-injection/

Tomorrow now, the family will say it is the doctors that killed him.
They won't remember how their pastor misled them.
They will still allow their pastor to hypnotize them and make turn around to blame the doctors.
Everything bad that happens to patients is the doctors' fault.

RIP to him.

When the pastors starts their miracles with "Dr said"...they now go ahead to denigrate the Dr and elevate their fraudulent ego, and guess what? Nigerians buys the stories verbatim.

While i strongly believe in miracles, i dont believe in commercialized miracles as we hv it in our present day pentecostalism.
common sense should also have its rightlful place in our society.

While they have moved on with advancement and development

Religious and Political Organizations, Ethnic groups, Tribe and Races are part of the matrix. The day they begin to force you into sticking with one then you know your destiny has been rewritten and your life is short.
God is not the author of religion. Christianity is not a religion.
I have been opportuned to experience the freedom of Christianity once and now the stings of organized religion and politics. It is just like the curse of the law that leads to death after rendering the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Love of God useless. It is you against all odds. The tarot cards are against your Christian faith in God to save.

What do you think?

It's no news that our health sector is in coma and on life support.

We are experiencing high volume of medics deserting our shores, leading to massive haemorrhage/brain drain in the health sector.....

Unfortunately, to our politicians. The health of the masses means nothing........

By the way what's your business bringing situations that happened in your organisation to social media?

And this is a medical professional delivering blow by blow account of a patients misery as if it was a football commentary.

Shame.

Simple arrest the pastor for manslaughter and the law take his course. That is all.

In medical parlance, its called DNAR (Do Not Attempt Resuscitation) though the power of lasting attorney rests primarily with the wife , then with the closest relative(s) or anyone the patient so appoints.
The pastor could have been appointed as the lasting power of attorney.
I usually feel happy when I come across such patients, it makes the work much easier for me. I simply access the mental capacity to refuse treatment, document it in the case file and then go to the lounge to grab popcorn and yoghurt and set my timer to when the patient goes to join his ancestors.
Not everyone wants the stress of medical intervention especially if the outcome of such intervention would prolong the life but continue the patient's misery. Make he kuku enter Valhalla asap.

Can a patient be treated without consent?

Yes. Either it's an emergency case or just pure discretion. Some old doctors have seen so much deaths that they lost the ability to have compassion. No empathy. God is empathy. Before a divine healer prays for you, they feel the empathy, your pains, and they take it away when healing you.
