Naahh we will continue using an accredited Lockheed service center for our maintenance and overhauls.....if what you say is indeed true and Lockeed is not even involved in any of your C130 overhauls only God knows what cooked up chinese copy parts are used instead of genuine Lockheed parts.... Never mind the people putting it all together.

Lastly at least I've seen all but 2 of our 9 moribound c130s in the air in the past year and a half.

I've literally only ever seen NAF:913,917 and 918 operational... Ever!!!

Lol this guy is so pained grin grin. So You think denel is the only approved one by Lockheed Martin. grin

Shame to you. We're actually using an accredited Lockheed Martin company. Nigeria has the facility to house the MRO overhaul so there's no need moving our aircrafts out of Nigeria. Instead we brought in specialist to come work with our own guys here.

you just don't get it do you? If it's milestone maintenance or a complete overhaul where will NAF get the parts, expertise or the technicians to assemble the entire aircraft? If its an extensive overhaul you will certainly need the OEM which in this case is Lockeed.

Or are you telling me NAF designs, manufactures and assembles all C130 parts?
LET ME SPEAK ON THIS:
STRUCTURALLY this is a complete overhaul, Like Henry I actually more interested in the Charlie in the background to the front of it are parts for the wings.
Much as Frum would like to crow South Africa is not the only one.
IN 2016/ 2017 Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar visited the United States specifically LOCKHEED
I n recent interviews he also alluded to it in the Press Conference.
For those paying attention , it was written into the BUDGET for at least one Charlie PDM
Then PMB asked for $1B
+ presidential DISCRETION
+ PMB'S visit to PDJ (The CDS was part of this visit)
Logic dictates the NAF is getting its parts straight from the OEM ( U.S. A )
This is something Nigeria should of done a long time ago.

It wasn’t denel, I just provided proof it was a French company used in the past and present day, unless you have proof stating otherwise just let the argument go. Jeez why are you SA dudes so strong headed undecided
The French company was hired for line overhaul and is not an accredited Lockheed mro so even if they could do an entire overhaul it wouldn't be accredited.

Leave the guy alone. Let him keep talking without facts. We have facilities here capable of MRO and overhaul so instead of moving the aircrafts out of the country, we brought in Lockheed approved companies. Dude even claimed they're making use of Chinese parts grin

He's just so out of point. I don't know if he works for the South African finance ministry but he's pissed NAF didn't bring the project to Denel so that he'll have something to rant about.

Sabenatechnics is also an accredited MRO company for Airbus.

I don’t even understand the guys argument, is it by force to use denel? It’s in the NaF statement that it was Sabena (a French company) the shame was too much to bare so he shifted attention to weather or not they have the accreditation to do the said maintenance grin

First of all the main argument was focused on Denel, your point was that they are the only service provider on the continent accredited by Lockheed, so therefore they have to be the firm handling the NAF project, A single satement from NAF proved you wrong so you shifted the argument to weather or not Sabena is accredited by Lockheed, guess what ? They are !
Where else would they get the engines and parts from ? Do you think they 3D print the bloody things ?
So like I said just drop the argument, let this one go and don’t make a fool out of yourself buddy

Lockheed Martin website even proves that.

https://www.lockheedmartin.com/en-us/who-we-are/business-areas/aeronautics/mmro/customer-support-center/c-130-service-centers.html

Airbus too.

https://www.airbus.com/newsroom/press-releases/en/2017/06/airbus-customer-services-launches-airbus-mro-alliance.html

The AMA will comprise MRO members with high standards and proven expertise in airframe heavy maintenance from around the world. By combining the industrial capacities of well-established MROs with the engineering knowledge and newly unveiled digital capabilities of Airbus, AMA aims at optimising heavy maintenance turnaround time and maximising added-value on the aircraft during the shop visit downtime.

The selection process to enter the alliance is based on specific and demonstrated criteria in terms of industrial capabilities, capacities, performance and quality. Each candidate member will be audited by an Airbus team in order for the MROs to demonstrate they comply with the Airbus standards of quality and high performance. To this end, the first agreements to be involved in Airbus MRO Alliance have recently been signed with a number of leading and globally positioned MROs: AAR, Aeroman, Sabena Technics, Etihad Airways Engineering, GAMECO and China Airlines.

I'm still looking for his excuse. He thinks Denel is the only and accredited MRO company for Lockheed Martin.

This: so why would Denel need a mechanical aircraft technician... Specifically one which is licenced to work on c130s?

You dislike when other thread members make statements that aren’t backed up by facts, any proof the job offer actually yielded results and it wasn’t canceled after lost the contract to the French firm ?

...hmmm help me to misunderstand your answer. It was a simple question. If 2-3 are active for Transport what is with the 7 AVAILABLE out of 9? Available for what? Pictures..! Or perhaps moribound? Those Aircrafts you posted with Nos. are they all flyable and in optimal Service?

It may be hard to understand, but aircraft do more than "transport".

There are training duties for air-crews, there are exercises to take part in, there is maintenance to be done, there is this thing called "reserve" (ie: standby).

Saying 2-3 active for transport means that 2-3 are operationally deployed - ie: trooping duties for the DRC deployment.

This is the state of the fleet in 2013, 5 operational, 2 undergoing/waiting for maintenance, 1 status unknown, 1 decommissioned.

On the MI-35m, the Nigerian Air Force evaluated both the MI-35m and Rooivalk, the service went for the MI-35m.

You chose an aircraft that was for sale over an aircraft that was not for sale?

Nigerian Air Force completely overhauling a C-130 in-country.

This is the fact we can all see. I'll recommend you advice your government to transfer your moribound C-130s to Nigeria for overhauling.

WTF is this nonsense?

Its quite obviously being done by contractors.

Latest from SAAF i read on defenceweb was that the fleet of C130s is still 9 strong with 2 unavailable due to maintenance(probably 404 and 407)

I don't know why these silly arguments persist. Regarding Nigeria. You ordered MI-35 in 2015. Nigerian delegation witnessed the Rooivalk demonstration in 2016. So pick one of the following:

- Either Nigeria was willing to operate two completely different combat helicopter platforms at the same time
-Or if they were sufficiently impressed they would have cancelled the MI-35 order

Pick one.

So he should have said it was not for sale to Nigeria. A future upgraded version was being punted to the other delegates there. And by the way, sitting on benches and watching it fire missiles is not "evaluation".

Yes, they were invited to evaluate the Mokopa, Ingwe and to generate interest to invest in the Rooivalk Mk2 project.

Rooivalks are not for sale.

No, i am telling you that the recruitment is a scam by Denel.

Evidence suggests Bcgneeds and Sabena Technics are the technical partners of the Nigerian Air Force. Can't you confirm this from the information shared in this and the previous pages?
