Oga George D1,

Good morning sir... please, I thought you're using 3 strings of 12 batteries (I sit to be corrected).

How come you set your charging at 50%?

mctrinity,
seems you missed the part in my post where i said i don't charge with phcn.
i only put on the inverter charger to confirm the output dc current yesterday
morning after which i promptly went back to solar only mode.
the 50% charge rate was set a long time back and has remained so even
though i hardly use that feature.

dmerciful,
seems you may have yet another damaged tristar coming your way from my end.
the evil pv switch-off before battery error caught up with me and one of my cc is toast.
i learnt the only savvy guy in alaba is forming too busy and doesn't seem ready to devote
enough time to diagnose and fix. i guess he has too much big fish on his plate already.
i will be grateful if you can take a look and see what can be done.

please could anyone here who owns an inverter refrigerator (i know both bigrovar and kiekie have one) please share with us it's consumption in terms of watts and an actual picture of the appliance. also, I want to get a washing machine, if anyone has an energy efficient model, please share too (pic and stats). thanks in advance

The unit I got is the 225L single door. It uses about 50w peek power but that varies it settles to around 40w. The down side is it defrosts very fast... but the up side is that it can conveniently be left to run longer period without damaging your battery.

how much is the peak consumption of the fridge and does the washing machine use up to 340w? I once measured an LG side loader washing machine and it didn't use up to 150w during spin cycle but that model is no more in the market. thanks for sharing

I may know a source...

I have visited two live installations and though the hardware build quality is solid, the software interface and configuration appeared clunky with a few odd quirks.

Further, there was signifcant complexity and additional hardware (meters e.t.c) required to manage the grid export/no export interface.

All in all, I came away believing the inverter not worth the stress - you are probably better served with the Victron ecosystem with which you already have great expertise

Hi guys, I just finished adding internet and live monitoring to my offgrid solar setup using the Raspberry Pi, a USB 3G modem, and the open energy monitoring system software called Emonpi. The output of the system can be viewed here. http://energy.bobby.com.ng/dashboard/view?id=1

For those interested in how I did this. I live tweet the whole process on twitter and you can follow the thread here

Bigrovar you're a genius. I can't start mentioning how you, dmerciful, earthrealm, niyiomoIyunade and others have contributed to my going RE.

The original Emonpi hardware goes for over 150 pounds and is originally made by them to measure only AC, temperature and humidity. Kudos.

With this your innovation, one can monitor generation and disconnect non-essential loads when generation is poor. Will you be kind enough to acquire, program and probably sell a unit? Or do a step by step procedure and the link to get the required parts.

I just want to be able to monitor pv generation and battery voltage remotely in order to turn OFF power gulping appliances. I already have Sonoff switch for remote ON/OFF.

Yes o, Bigrovar, Pranil, Niyi and the rest of our family here should help the righteous mbok!
Relay logic feels obsolete in managing self consumption.

Select auxiliary load management wrt excess PV generation is something only sma does for now.

The market is very ripe for an indigenous solution.

Bro e no reach like that o. I hope to find time to do proper guide and like to the hardware. although the system is based on emonpi.. I took lots of liberties from offcially supported standard install. The unit runs Linux (debian for that matter) an operating system that has been my daily driver for over 10 years so it was easy hacking it to fit my needs. For example, getting it to work with the USB dongle and by an extension glo.. this are things like might sound trivia for most users.. you connect install drivers and you are good to go, On linux especially an headless system where you only get to work via commandline.. things gets more.... interesting. I had to roll back the years and dig deep into IPtables, wvdial and working round the Linux init (systemd now adays)... If you are comfortable with Linux and Apache servers than it shouldn't be too hard.

I need gOodwe as it is compatible with the lihium battery I just took delivery of - Herewin china

I managed to use the two wire BMS control for hook up with Victron The system ran find few days before BMS developed a problem . The company made a handmade BMS to work with victron which has not worked well.

Normally they have a Quality BMS ( SMD compoenents etc) which is certified by GOODwe

On checking Goodwe I realized that it may fit my requirements at half the cost of Victron ( 1100 Pounds in UK) with an added advantage That I can add 6-8 panels in series keeping my cabling intact ( the panles are on the roof of 4 story building ). and I am on first floor diagonally opposite ( almost 80 meters of run)
The cost of cabling, solar combiners etc, stopped me from doing more KW - I am using right now 700 Watt candian solar on 500 Watt microgrid inverter

As an added bonus since the system is fanless and the inverter is instaled in reception the lound fan noise during charging is nonexistant

In my case I also needed a Energy mater , Venus GX , AC contractor, BMV 712 etc with Victron ecosystem So moving to Goodwe actually frees up lot of components.

What I will need is only threee things

1 Goodwe Inverter
2. Ezmeter
3.Ezconverter ( canbus to Rs485)

I can use the office Quattro to go 3 phase 5 KVA x 3 at home smiley

Hi guys, I just finished adding internet and live monitoring to my offgrid solar setup using the Raspberry Pi, a USB 3G modem, and the open energy monitoring system software called Emonpi. The output of the system can be viewed here. http://energy.bobby.com.ng/dashboard/view?id=1

For those interested in how I did this. I live tweet the whole process on twitter and you can follow the thread here
