They usually don't own the landed property in question else they would be more concerned about compensation which I am damned sure the state government would not hesitate to pay them. Most of them leased those lands and built their parks therein without government approval to start with.

They didnt shout of marginalisation, they didnt go to court, they went to the governors elder brother to beg for his intervention so that the governor can give them audience at least. There is no parallel. None whatsoever

These folk bought land which they own(they claim) but the government is saying you cannot use that land for that purpose

The Benue situation is the government saying to the herdsmen you cannot graze on land if you do not own it. If you want to graze go ahead and acquire land for that

How are those scenarios connected? You are gratuitously introducing the herdsmen issue which is totally irrelevant . Why not bring in MEND and resource control struggle
Bless you for being so fair minded in that response.
It is really sad many Nigerian youths lack good education and are intellectually very poor.

actiondrilling:
The Association of Luxury Bus Owners of Nigeria (ALBON) on Monday asked for the intervention of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in lifting the paralysis of their businesses by the Akinwunmi Ambode led Lagos State government on the Ikorodu axis.

Its President and Chairman of Ifesinachi Group of Companies, Prince Emeka Mamah, said this while addressing State House Correspondents after the group paid a courtesy visit to Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to Mamah, sometime in 2017 the Lagos state government issued an executive order, directing all transporters on the Ikorodu corridor to relocate to Ojota.

He noted that since the order, the group tried its best to meet with Governor Ambode to resolve the problem without success.
Mamah said that the deployment of police on the Ikorodu axis to stop the businesses of the bus operators in their private parks had crippled the transportation of persons and property to different parts of the country.
“That is the main reason we said we should come to his excellency (the Vice President) to complain and to appeal so that he can step into this matter and see reasons we should maintain our private parks.

“These are investments that we owe banks and we have spent so much to develop those places,” he pleaded.
He said that the group had confidence in the APC government and expressed optimism that the Vice President would step into the matter to resolve the problems.
The LUBON president also urged the federal government to address the issue of import duty tariff on luxury buses as the duty of 35 per cent on a bus of about N150 million was too high for investors.
He also requested the federal government to intervene in the Value Added Tax being demanded from bus owners as it was difficult for them to collect VAT from commuters.
“The road users, especially commuters do not pay VAT; there is no how that we can collect that from commuters.
“And we are appealing to him to also look into that direction and see what can be done so that the tax people will not be disturbing us regarding VAT,’’ he said.
The Patron of the Association, Chief Eugene Nzom-Ojukwu (MON), added that the Association presented an award to the Vice President to show its support and strong solidarity with the government.
According to him, all the association needs is a level playing ground to enable it to serve the public better.
He said that the Lagos incident had pushed the operations of the group down, adding that about three months ago, the Lagos government impounded the association’s buses and kept them for three months without justification.
“We will find it difficult to set off all the accumulated bank interest that that action caused to us.
“You can also agree with us that the luxury bus association has never for one day gone on a strike no matter what it is.
“Our primary objective is to keep the nation moving; we do not want to be a stumbling block on the movement of the government and the people as well.
“We are trying to do whatever we think is possible for us to make sure that everything in Nigeria moves perfectly as far as transportation area is concerned,” the ALBON patron added.

After meeting Osinbajo, please go and report to Daddy G.O and then the wisest visit would be to the court. Employ Ebun Omagoruwa for that purpose.!

How did he provide them with alternative? Is there any vacant space in Ojota that the Governor gave them? Fear God in Ur sentimental rantings.

Ojota is a choked up area, these transporters have spent fortunes in establishing their operational base along ikorodu road and Jibowu axis.

The right thing for the governor to do is map out an area at d outskirt of the city for these transporters to build their base if he doesn't't want them in d city.

The Ojota excuse is lame as that area is d most choked up area in Lagos with heavy traffic and no space for luxurious bus operators
Map out an area from which fund? They went ahead establishing operational base without d government notice, there is more than enough space in ojota, d government already gave them a space to use nd its an open space.

I am not surprised at the tribal jagons being dished out on the thread. These men built their parks at ikorodu, paid money for the land, developed the land and employed people whom they pay salary. LASG is even collecting 35% tax on every bus, so unfair. Moving them to ojota is totally senseless. That place is already congested and heavily trafficked. Is it that nothing is inside the fat head of the governor? Those same luxurious bus operators suffered vandalism in the hands of APC thugs. Igbo people really have no place in Nigeria, I really don't blame IPOB for wanting their own country.
This is afonja land, same LASG DAT collects tax from them asked them to use d space in ojota, d fact that you bought your land doesn't mean govt can't av a say on it, d land belongs to the govt that's y we pay land use charges, they ar not the only one affected but they will be d one shouting nd disturbing d peace of lagos, God bless Lasgidi. With the tax the commuters bear the load but then back in the days when rail way lines were working these same luxury bus owners take Ghana must go bags to rail way transport unions to embark on strike especially on festive periods and now where are the rail way line workers I hope they have learnt their lesson this time around especially now that government is trying to revive the rail way industry

The problem is not a political one. Politicizing as they have done is looking for trouble. This has affeted local garage operators as well not just the interstate.

If anything the State Government has evenn more responsibility to the local ones

The issues are
1. The buses cause traffic issues on Ikorodu Road and the problem is getting worse
2. The buses actually causes damage to road railings and conrete when they turn
3. Their activities contravene the state Master Plan and are illegal
4. Government has provided an alternative at Ojota.

Is the request of these folk reasonable? That we should leave things as they are and not plan for the future

What has this got to do with southern unity? So because of unity we should not have law and order?
Did you read anywhere that transporters from Oyo or Ondo are treated differently. Why must everything be sentimental

Are you minding them? They are usually at the forefront of abusing Lagos as a 'disorganized cesspit and slum', calling it all kinds of demeaning names relative to Abuja for example. Yet when the government takes steps in order to address problems of this sort and to bring sanity to the state they will be the first to condemn the move. The way they are going about it you would think they are the only transporters affected.

the govt should compensate them adequately because most times , the govt keeps relocating them forgetting that it was their presence that attracted much development to that area.
even if they agree to move to a less developed place, just watch how their presence will bring about development to their new place, after which in ten years time another government will ask them to relocate again to another less developed place and the circle continues

the proper thing to do is to regulate them properly in a way that they will not cause hold up

The road is a federal road andthey never had a permit to operate a park there as is the law in Lagos

Three (3) things:

1. Why go to Osinbanjo - a mere commissioner according to Igbos? They should have contacted some1 else who is not a mere commissioner.

2. Isn't Lagos a no-man's land - according to Igbos? So what is stopping you from doing whatever you want whenever you want it?

3. Why complain? Didn't they Igbos tells us that they own 80 % of Lagos? Why not use your 'developmental' powers to get what you want?

The state government even provided them with an alternative yet they are still complaining. Sho! If they insist on not relocating to Ojota, they should consider Onitsha. Below is a video of the interstate bus terminal space the state goverment built for them at Ojota and it is spacious enough to accommodate them.

Either way they are fighting a losing battle. Nobody or group can stop the itesiwaju of Eko.

You know that talk is cheap until u are directly affected

However, I think they should relocate but it should be a gradual process

There we go again, an innocent topic on transportation and fiam!!! tribalism and bigotry against ndi igbo hv taken over as usual.

As someone once said , other Nigerian tribes are mostly anti igbo than pro Nigeria, so long an idea displeased the igbo man, Nigerians are contented with it, not minding if the same ideology will affect them on the long run.

The only time other Nigerians appear happy for an igbo man is when he scores for Super Eagles...everyother thing he does is wrong, and what he didnt do is also wrong.

No matter how it lingers..that day must come when we will discover we cant pretend any longer, when we will finally succumb to the pressing need to come down to a round table to discuss the existence of this contraption.

as chinua Achebe wrote in his book "there was a country", Nigerians will disagree in every issue except on one that tramples on the Igbo. Antagonising the Igbo is the country's only rallying point. I wonder why the hatred, jealousy and fear.

Funny but The easiest way for the Igbo to get Biafra, is for them to declare one Nigeria, then watch as our antagonists push us out. After all that's what they brutally did after the 1966 coup until Igbos said OK let's have our own country, then they mobilised to seek us back.

So what's happened to the land they already bought as their private parks?
Where was government when they were developing it?
Did you hear where it was mentioned that they are using government land or did you see where it was said that lagos government build a park for them and they refused to relocate..
You might not be a bus owner but I believe what goes around comes around in our own ways..

Ambode is evil and incompetent.
What has he done beyond building overhead bridges and bus stops, while illegally and fraudulently destroying houses, businesses and hiking all manner of rates with his godfather as the sole tax and rates collector.
We accept mediocrity in Nigeria that's y some see Ambode as having performed as governor despite the enormous income Lagos generates.
Asides that why is it that no Lagos governor has revealed costs of projects embarked upon.
Fraudulent people with a parochial mindset!
