globalfanz: This topic is quite timely. But V6 seem to be availlable in COUPE only. I dont like 2 door car. Have done some search but cant get it in saloon version.

Wrong. There are so many Saloon 406 V6 phase 2 out there. Check the link I earlier posted.

It just occured to me that one can actually get all the 406 V6 engine parts here in Nigeria, since 607 V6 were also sold new in Nigeria, I believe. You can get them from various Authorized Peugeot Dealership in Nigeria.

As long as the conversion was properly done, NO.

My 605 V6, originally, was auto transmission. The previous owner converted it to manual transmission in 2008 and used it from 2008 to 2011 before i purchased the car from him. Am still enjoying it till date. No issue & am not expecting any.

LOL!!!

I think he meant the country Nigeria was 'killed' by the occupiers of the rear seats of 504s & 505s.
Maybe a subtle reference to the Top Army Brass and Top Politicians who preferred the Lions for obvious reasons as Official Vehicles.

I arrived Abuja, my house, 3 hrs ago, which i left Enugu this morning. So i just logged in and saw your post.

A converted V6? Run for your dear life! Don't even look back while you are on it.

Swapping in EW10 into engine bay of XU10 may not be a big deal. But swapping in ES9J45 in an I4 D9 is a big time big deal. It wont be a simple drop. A lot of modifications will have to be done. Only a person who knows what he is doing can achieve a succesful conversion.

A friend of mine in Australia swapped in ES9J4S in his 406 coupe V6 (D8), which originally had ES9J4 in the engine bay. After reading what he went through to complete the task, it was obvious that such task isn't meant for the road side mechanics. Note that both vehicle originally had a V6, before swapping in another V6, but it still a hard task. Not to think of I4 to V6. Unless you meant RHd to LHD, and not I4 to V6.

The most impotant part of EFI engine conversion is the engine harness swap. How good is the auto electrician that will do the harness swap and modifications in understading wiring diagram of that engine to be swapped in? I studied my wiring diagram and understood the functions of each wires in the engine bay, and where they are coming from and going to. If i would do such conversion, i will do the engine harness swap myself. But since you are not the one that did the electrical part of the conversion, how are you sure they even used the wiring diagram in the conversion?

The issue with the car which the dealer claimed was injectors issues could be a serious wrong harness/wiring connections done during the conversion.

If you want a D9 V6, get a factory/standard D9 V6. Its what I would do.

Ikenna.

I think the conversion he meant was a RHD to LHD conversion. I don't think any dealer would go through the stress of an engine swap for no reason. There's no profit to be made in that. Maybe he (OP) should throw more light on that.
Re: Peugeot 406 V6, And 307 2.0L: What's Your Take? by wewe1(m): 6:12am On Jan 01, 2013
It was a conversion from RHD to LHD. How reliable is a converted 406? I was made to understand that most 406 imported from Europe were converted from RHD to LHD except very few ones.
By the way, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year too!

RHD - LHD converts in Nigeria are from UK. And UK is not the only European nations that had 406. Difference is that 406 in UK is cheaper than the LHD conterparts in other European countries, and Nigerians are so much in love with cheap things.

Personally, i would stay away from RHD car, no matter how cheap it is. During the conversion, a lot of wires and electric switches will have to be moved. Even the AC components will be transfered to the other side of the car. Most of the RHD converts have ended up having constant AC gas leak issues. No matter how good the person doing the conversion is, the car will never be like factory LHD. Some switches will be at the wrong side of the car. The thing is, you wont enjoy the car. I dont care even if the conversion was done outside Nigeria, ain't buying one.

I cant stop you from buying what you like. For i could be wrong or right about my reasons for disliking RHD convert. Its not make my call to make. But be ready to live with whatever decision or choice you make in live. Because "I told you so" doesn't make the problem go away.

we we,

Happy new year.
i just want add some few words to what Ikenna wrote above.
buying a converted use car can be problematic sometimes, because not all necessary parts which are supposed to be replace are replace in the conversion process. i do supply guys in Nigeria with conversion part for Peugeot and i can certify that must of them think of how to maximize their profits and not the safety or comfort of their client.

I used peugeot 406 for 12 years & 307 for 10 years. 406 is a good for both local runs & journey, same applies to 307. It's doesn't give problem if you have a good mechanic, not all those mechanic that repair more than 10 brands of vehicle. The only thing you will need to watch out for is the timing belt & oxygen sensor. I normally buy it's original belt & replace it every 2 year, not ones that is sold for 6k that last only 4 - 6 months while the oxygen sensor (green) helps the vehicle in its economy, if it's faulty you will notice black smoke from the exhaust. After these 2 things I never issues with both cars. If not for the new models with timing chain, all other peugeot with timing belt, requires changing every 2 years if you're using the original one. Avoid cut & join electrician, because almost all wiring comes from the brain box. If you observe this then peugeot will last longer than you expect

How much is the original timing belt and do they have a brand name?
