NosoChic:The thing is people have different reasons for their decisions and if they get into problems, except you are willing to directly help. Sorry to say, but its not really a matter to express your disatisfaction People are just sharing their experiences |

Lexusgs430:If you search instagram, there's a Nigerian nurse called Deola with triplets, she's a former colleague. Her laulau was too much. So I u followed her. Was happy i didn't date her. Maybe na me for Teri sii |
| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by DaveChapelle: 7:03pm On Jun 10, 2018 |
Ralphlauren:Well. What if she gets denied and she's stuck there? Do you know how expensive visa is for 4 people? Even British Windrush still fighting for visa.... She has to get married first etc... Loads expenses... What she's doing is probably convenient. Anyway, nobody deliberately gets into such circumstances. There are always reasons. And i think this is more reprimand than trying to understand why.... And that's why lawyers will help her and reach a legal solution |

marylandcakes:I would rather have money in my pocket than look fine and be broke... That said a car is not an investment. This people just market it as such and can be an inefficient way of maximising your earnings value |
| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by DaveChapelle: 7:07pm On Jun 10, 2018 |
Lexusgs430:That deposit sef will buy a car and the insurance. This place wey nobody send you even if you're driving ferrari... The problem is a lack of creativity on how to spend money Spent 4k on an old lexus with 68k miles and the insurance and am angry I didnt buy the cheaper one for 1, 6k at least till my insurance drops and I have a house.... 14k will get you 5% deposit on mortgage.... Besides when financing, a new car, you spend about 6k extra than actually paying cash |
| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by DaveChapelle: 7:11pm On Jun 10, 2018 |
Ralphlauren:Because you can afford it doesn't necessarily mean it's a wise or rather cost-effective investment |

Mamatukwas:Autotrader I think is better, make sure the Mot is good for almost a year though... That's your guarantee |
| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by DaveChapelle: 7:13pm On Jun 10, 2018 |
Aphrodite007:Autotrader is cool too.... If you're going for an old car, some cars have better reliability... Eg Toyota or lexus vs buying a cheap Mercedes which can be a money pit |
| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by DaveChapelle: 7:14pm On Jun 10, 2018 |
Aphrodite007:You can. Get a car for 1k too... Is it not to get you from A to B |

DaveChapelle:I have known people buy cars for £650 and drive it for over 4 years...... Nothing mechanically went wrong with the vehicles, apart from regular maintenance. And they end up selling the car for over £300.......... Talk about motoring on the cheap....... And yes it only takes you from point A - B........... |

DaveChapelle:Thank you very much. This is the point I’ve been trying to make. You hit the nail on the head. |

@madamekofo welcome to the thread oo for work I will suggest still searching for something u have practised in and existing qualifications while u get the UK experience and probably money if u need it. Getting all this trainee roles can take a while and most times it's targeted at recent graduate or current student As for selling things, Amazon is still ur best bet and u can shop for things online and in store at reduced price and sell on Amazon, you can even try african stuffs if u can dabble into that. But then all u Amazon pple dey kill people's business case in point is this house of Fraser store closing more dan half of there stores |

| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by DaveChapelle: 9:07pm On Jun 10, 2018 |
marylandcakes:it's like driving, because the car can do 150 miles/HR, doesn't mean we go all out. The extra money can be used to invest in a retirement plan like buying houses and when you remortgage your house, who knows buy a chacha 2020 range rover...all cash and they even deliver to your house on a flatbed . Now, that's balling! |

Lexusgs430:Sometimes I feel like showing myself, sell my car and buy something new, you know...parking assist, lane maintaining and all the papas in these new cars, but my dream car is probably the new E class with the double iPad speedometer |

| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by marylandcakes: 9:25pm On Jun 10, 2018 |
DaveChapelle:For me the only thing I can buy with finance is a house. I was brought up to pay for my food before I eat it. So I rather save money and pay for a car outright. I don’t think you should pay interest if you can avoid it. I’m old school and I’m not going to apologise. |
| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Ralphlauren(m): 9:25pm On Jun 10, 2018 |
marylandcakes:I don’t want to keep dragging this car issue. To each their own. The amusing thing is that it’s even the least of my monthly outgoings. I pay much more on my mortgage and childcare than the “chicken change” that goes towards the car. I work too hard and I earn too well to be driving a tokunbo. ![]() Again I stress on affordability. If one can afford it, there’s absolutely nothing wrong in driving a brand new car every three years. May God bless us all. Amen. |
