Industry/Manufacturing has since independence average around 10% - sometimes rising as high as 17% - and now it low as 8%. It struggling now - unlike say Ethiopia - who have a lot going for them - Kenya gov is working on manufacturing as it top 4 priority the next 5yrs - the idea is to raise it share of contribution to 20%. It going to be tough because we don't have Ethiopean fundementals ...really cheap labout (half kenya)...real cheap power (about 3-4 times cheaper)...and gov willing to dole out incentives..tax holidays/ free land/... so we will not probably attrracting low cost manufacturing...but we have huge consumer market...very good infrastructure & have dealt with bureaucratic bottleneck...so in my estimation we will probably still however around 10% of GDP - which isn't bad - because it has kept pace with overall gpd growth.

Ethiopia have very strong fundamentals to attract low cost export-oriented manufacturing from China. Kenya will struggle ...but we can still hack it..coz apart from power & labour & tax incentive...we beat Ethiopia in others stuff like logistics/domestic consumer market/more productive labour market.

Your last is def true! FYI, all those flower farmers who went North for the cheap labour want to return. Despite their labour being half our rate their productivity is too low for any real savings.
Everything takes at least twice as long and training programs have no effect. Very much like Tanzanians.

But educated Nigerians do not always speak that way(what he was trying to mimick in which he failed). Educated Nigerians can easily speak like that and speak like the white American if they want. He tried though, but that's not the Nigerian accent (Yoruba and lgbo accent from Nollywood). it was even strange to Chindima when he started if you observe but she just played along
