I personally find it a public disturbance. You can share tracts or christian literature in the buses. Much peaceful and does not turn people off.

Satan finds it a disturbance as well

I seriously support this move to be implemented in Nigeria and I am a Christian.

We have failed as a nation—that’s why we place so much emphasis on prayer.

Less prayer, more practical realism. The whites do not pray as much as we do, but they get things done. Enough with the white man’s god non sense. It has not benefitted millions of Nigerians.

There is God, no question. But the God we are shouting to doesn't exist . The whites have realised that and moved on.

Your post is self contradictory. You say there is God one breath, while in another, you say the Fid we are shouting to doesn’t exist.

Which do we believe brother?

Any which way, we should pray less and work our way around things. The white people are no fools to have built their society on the foundation of hard work.

It makes no business sense for a hotel to air religious programs except the the owners place religion above profits' generation. It goes against business ethics.

@Post: Kudos. Preach about your religion without constituting public nuisance.

I do not know about the poster you quoted, but I do this anytime it becomes a nuisance, ditto other passengers. The difference between playing songs and preaching is that the latter is emotional and personal - not everyone professes your religion. You don't go about preaching the Bible in a bus where they are different adherents of religious beliefs. If everyone decides to do same, you won't like the outcome - noisy and disturbing.

Religion is a private affair, keep it so.

So, it's wrong for a family to lodge in a hotel and watch Christian channel?

You are saying it's wrong for Christian channels to be a few of the countless channels on the TV network of hotels?

It's either you are one of those Mr Roberts complained about or you didn't understand my post before rushing to my mention

Digressing a little, I can see a lot of angst about the role of Christianity in society and nation building, particularly Nigeria and I must admit it is very naive

To start with. People are increasingly turning to God because the systems operating this nation has failed and not because Christians or Christianity is responsible for Nigeria's backwardness. Africans were no better before the gospel came to our shores. Nigeria is not exclusively a Christian state, it is secular so how can it be exclusively blamed for the nation's fortunes and finally amongst the world's religions Christianity is the most modern, dynamic and observant of civilised practices.

Of course due its size and diversity the Christian faith will have many angles, practices and practitioners that are untennable and perhaps unsavoury to some but to the beat of my knowledge Christianity and Christians have been responsible for some of the greatest advances in science, technology and the arts. The great United States of America was founded on solid Christian principles and its growth, progress and development couldn't have come without hardwork but other countries work hard as well but are not as successful.

What I say in a nutshell is that. Nowhere in the Bible is indolence and sloth encouraged as a way of life. Similarly, nowhere in the Bible is progress ever encouraged without God as the centre, focus and fulcrum.

Those who have this balanced view are exceptional hard workers. I for instance believe exceptionally in God Almighty as the reason for my life and the purpose for my achievements, consequently I work day in day out. Since I left paid employment I have no holidays. I work virtualky 18/7 and only take time off when exhausted. When you see other men of faith and what they do with their time and still manage to live for God, then you realise the error in the presumption that those who preach the gospel are idle and have nothing else doing and nothing to contribute to social society

Look at Bishop Oyedepo for instance ans his commitment to education. Can you say those are the works of idle hands or retrogressive thinking. Is he not positively impacting the educational landscape in Nigeria. And he could do more in other fields of industry but for the statutes that limit what churches can do

If a man is lazy mentally or physically, it is not on the back of Christianity. That is an inate characteristic that even the scriptures frown at. Christianity is not responsible for tje country's backwardness. You know why we remain undeveloped but you just choose to find a scapegoat elsewhere.

Really?... so just because someone like me be sitting at home for only two years praying and waiting for God to find me a good job and send me a wife I'm docile?...and lazy and unproductive? If you're not spiritual you wouldn't understand. Atheist.Nonsense. Hmmm...let me go pray for someone bring me breakfast.
grin. It is only in Nigeria that someone prays to be a house and car owner without a feasible plan on how to achieve it. Pitiful indeed....
Abeg shift, make I join you pray for someone to bring me fried rice and chicken with cold beer.

We need this in Nigeria and more. Religion has made us technically and practically lazy and unproductive. Look at super eagles, while their Croatian mates went to put heads together to discuss how to technically disarm them , they started praying! The God they were praying to, is he not also father to the Croatians? Nonsense! We are blinded by religion or rather,we hide behind religion to be docile, lazy, unproductive and plain stupid.

I love this , you are very mature in thinking, but some nigerian lack that. This is one big problem that need to be solve in nigeria

I am a Christian and I believe all you have said. But our simple contention is that we need to limit the preaching to the churches. What is the use of annoying other citizens in the bus by threatening them with death and hell?

We have so many problem in this country and we need to inculcate the principles of hard work into our people if we want a functional society.

Enough with the prayers, more of work.

I wrote "...except the the owners place religion above profits' generation". The bold applies to premises that air a channel/program at a time.

No, it is not wrong for a family lodged in a hotel to watch a Christian channel. However, it is within the purview of business operators to provide services they desire with regards to profits' generation.

I hope you also tell the driver to put off his loud Fuji music which is coming from speakers bigger than those the bus came with.
absolutely. It's part of the noise pollution in Lagos and it's also sickening. You get home, religious centres are blasting speakers all day and all night with no iota of consideration for anybody, you get to work, generator noise and fumes, even in the bus they won't let you hear word. If it's not Mobile preachers, it's mobile traders advertising their wares. All these pollution we are accustomed to is extremely unhealthy for our mental health

The driver reserves the right to play Fuji in his bus. You can’t question him for playing Fuji music.

Don’t compare apples with oranges.
his passengers are his customers. Without the passengers, his bus is useless so he should seek the consent of passengers before blasting any lousy song unfortunately the drivers are majorly uninformed illiterates who are very crude and uncivilised. Thank God for uber and taxify except for those low life hoes always ranting rape and falsely accusing innocent taxify drivers who are trying to make a living of rape

[quote author=SoNature post=68558511]Christian leaders are effectively shutting down Christianity the best possible ways they can while our Islamic brothers are working tirelessly to further their cause, including using violence. The difference is indeed clear.

The other day, I watched Andre Roberts, the owner of Faith TV Network, explain in despair and disappointment how Christian CEOs of blue-chip companies refused to advertise their companies' products on their Christian network, saying that they didn't want to make the impression that they sell Christian products.

He also met with owners of hotels in South Africa to allow the channel join the network of channels which hotel customers enjoy as they holiday in such hotels, but these hospitality industry players blatantly turned down the request, saying that if they do it for him, they would have to do it for others.

One thing is certain: everyone must answer to their deeds on earth: politicians, poor and rich

Christians always feel inferior to Muslims because I can't understand why you're mentioning Islam on Christian's issues.
