That is if she got the ticket directly from Emirates.... and if the ticket was not a promo ticket, date can be changed for as low as $50.

As long as you paid for your birthing there and have all necessary receipts including the zero-balance stuff on you when you arrive the POE you should be good. You must have a cogent reason to be there again this time and enough resources too to cater for such when you arrive at the POE too. Safe trip!

Take the advice of Omobendel and where ever you're traveling to please try to fly to the nearest international airport especially if the destination is on the East Coast. Good luck

Good morning nairalanders, I am due to travel to New Jersey soon and was early advice to use JFK as a cheaper fare option rather than EWR in New jersey but for a week now that I have searched, I am seeing a cheaper fare rate from LOS to EWR compare to LOS to JFK on Ethiopia(Asky) airline and I tend to book to EWR rather than JFK. My question now is to know if the POE at EWR is friendly as i have not really hear anybody transcript on transiting/stop there on this thread or will it be better i use JFK not minding the fare difference. Please gurus in the house i need your opinion on this soon.
@seyewest,@omobendel,@Twood,@LadyG,@Nothingdome and others please!!!

Go for EWR... You don't need any friendly POE so far you have nothing to hide/fear just be cool and have a clear reason for traveling.

Abeg, my people, I have more questions.
I have two boxes I want to travel with (a hand luggage and a bigger box. They are light and contain just clothes and novels). I am hearing it'd raise a red flag since I would be spending only 2 weeks .

I don't understand why this would be an issue. Please,Someone should enlighten this JJC. Thanks.

Well I don't see any issue with that except the cloth you're traveling with is too much.... Are the cloth for sale? if yes it's very risky because it's illegal to work or earn money while in U.S on a visit visa.

The clothes are not for sale, bro. I wouldn't risk that. They are my personal clothes.
Thanks

Be careful of taxis at JFK. Get your own taxi yourself and confirm price first. Just got scammed right now of $300 by a guy called Andy( fake name most likely). Due to my own negligence and trust. How farr with that guy that got his bags stolen, did he find it?

The last time I was in JFK, I paid the taxi guy $25 to Queens and he paid $10 toll before leaving the airport, this was after intense research just to avoid this kind story.

Nothing much.... Relax, latch on to the airport's free Wi-Fi and do some catch-up, stroll around, see the airport, maybe take pictures, window shop, buy anything if you want to, admire the planes in view, feed your eyes generally. There isn't need to think of coming out of DXB, time is absolutely too short even if you have the visa or your passport is visa free into UAE, it takes some time to go through immigration on your way out and on your way back in especially on a busy day....

Yeah, required at JFK, your first port of call at the US. You are good too with your connecting flight ticket at hand, that's a local flight and no worries after JFK clearance to enter the US by CBP.... Safe trip!

It's a nice experience. You will be directed to a window where u will pick up your 3days transit Visa. After you pass through immigration, guys at d Emirates counter will assemble you guys in one corner (lol) inside the airport. Their shuttle buses will pick u up to Copthorne Hotel (although this might take a while depending on the number of people). Breakfast, lunch and dinner provided (buffet) operation showing boarding pass before you enter the restaurant because d boarding will be scanned at d restaurant for records. They will call ur room once its time for trip back to the airport, should in case u over slept. Trip to d airport is usually early probably for checking and security screening. All d best.

If you have a priority pass card or a member you can make your way to different lounge associated with priority pass .... or download a film and watch it at your gate.
