A swimming pool MUST be surrounded with a coated metal net which will prevent unauthorized persons, including teens and kids from accessing it. An undergraduate student died in a similar circumstance early this year during a party. I read about it here on NL. If you know you are the careless type, do not construct a swimming pool in your home. My question is, where was dbanj and the wife when the unfortunate occurrence happened? If you are not ready to father/mother a child, do not bother inviting them, so you won't end up terminating an innocent child's life prematurely. That's one of the future stars already lost forever.

You would be surprised that pool deaths amongst young kids is one of the highest causes of mortality.

"Children ages 1 to 4 have the highest drowning rates. In 2014, among children 1 to 4 years old who died from an unintentional injury, one-third died from drowning. Among children ages 1 to 4, most drownings occur in home swimming pools." That's from CDC and references US data.


That we don't have lots of houses with pools in Nigeria makes it very rear but with a lot of rich people seeking such comforts expect much more occurrence due to zero safety rules and oversight. Drowning is easy, doesn't take more than a few seconds and funny thing is you would not even notice till the kid is minutes dead because they go in a whimper..

Many folks don't know the danger of having an uncovered pool when u have toddlers in the house. Its a looming danger. Another danger is having kids roam arrnd ur parking lot/Garage, sm folks hv run over their kids accidentally because these kids roam arrnd alot b4 u know it they are behind ur car. Once dey start crawling or walking they need round d clock observations. Wonder how it happened where was the maid.
