i am trying to make direct payment but no way

this Nigerian web hosting company they are not futuristic the will see any opportunity they will just rush none of of them have run this biz for at least 5 years.

Will you stop being silly and first tell us the name of the hosting company you bought from.

The title is misleading. How can you put all Nigerian hosting companies in one basket. The Godaddy you even suggested has one of the worst hosting reviews on the internet. They are only good with domains. Should i now because of that say that you should stay away from American host? Think before you speak next time.

Re: Dont Patronise Nigeria Web Hosting Company by abhosts(m): 3:08pm On Oct 07, 2010
This scenario is not peculiar to Nigeria. Many web hosts in the US bailout on their customers too. What matters is the reputation of the hosting company you are patronizing. That is why you should be cautious of Hosting Companies appear desperate for customers. Most of them do run a business model that only brings money in the short run but are doomed for failure in the long run.

See all this Host guys run come dey yan orkpata for this good poster.

In my opinion he has his right to say so, cause he has had a bad experience with them. Over 10 peeps i know have advised me to move away for Nigerian Resellers.

I trust m host and enjoy the support. Quite better than one Oyinbo speaking Latin or some Gibberish in which it's syntax my compiler can't work with! cool cool cool

First of all there no Nigerian Hosting Companies so thanks for not researching your facts most nigerias are resellers, second i use smartwebng till now no issues encountered prob u don't know what u want
Re: Dont Patronise Nigeria Web Hosting Company by DualCore1: 11:02pm On Oct 08, 2010
PC Guru, that's contradiction.

You either say

"there are some Nigerian Hosting Companies . . most Nigerians are resellers"

or

"there are no Nigerian Hosting Companies . . all Nigerians are resellers"

I'd like to know your take on this before I respond.

going forward and backward archieving nothing, "WHERE IS BEAF WHEN YOU NEED HIM", its just based on experience, i.e the good or bad encounters you have had with them,

REMEMBER THAT NOTHING IS GOOD OR BAD EXCEPT BY COMPARISM

@posters, he does have some point to make. I used 3 Nigerian Web-hosts (with actual offices rather than just a website) before simply because of the Naija character problem when it comes to webhosts accepting our VISA credit-cards and because i needed to get hold of someone to pressure when things go awry (which happens whether you like it or not) but it has not always been a smooth ride for these reasons

1: Very little knowledge on the hosting platform they sell so they can hardly provide you with the support you need (opensource and commercial hosting platforms)
2: Clients complain of mail downtime or poor availability and SPAM or mail account hacking when some of their financial transactions were intercepted and other parties were contacted on deals no one had privy of except via email.
3: Unplanned downtime they do not even realize until i call them to ask what is happening (Name Server changes, DNS problems, Apache mis-configurations, PHPMail etc)
4: High-charges for services you will get for free or less on US-based or UK-based Web-hosts or simply they advertise dedicated-hosting when really all they have is one dedicated server hosting multiple IIS sites. that was simply bad business because you cannot customise features you thought you had.

In all there are some Good Nigerian Web-hosts who are knowledgeable in the technology and can provide support (though this takes time cos it is usually their head-developer that doubles up as helpdesk)
Re: Dont Patronise Nigeria Web Hosting Company by basking4me: 3:53pm On Oct 14, 2010
Talking about Web hosts is like talking about Internet Service Providers (ISP) that provide bandwidth for Voice, Video and Data. If you were asked if there are any ISPs in ?Nigeria, of course there are but they also are mostly reselling bulk bandwidths.

The like of Zain, Etisalat are all ISPes, not just telecoms operators, the guys at main1 and Glo1 are the ones trying to setup independent ISPes and even at that they are not totally independent.

So, again, to say that there are no Hosting Companies in Nigeria will be totally wrong. Reason; there are lots of Nigerian Hosting Companies here that you dont know that have their web servers in their various offices here doing commercial hosting services.

A good example is ME. I have a webserver that runs my E-mailing system and its resident in my office as my lights never goes off! grin, only its not commercial

So if i need to run my commerical hosting , same applies!

Honestly, i hate it when we just conclude on how own stuff here in the country. Yes there are so many bad eggs but this does not mean the other eggs are bad all together.

For once let us put on the spirit of patriotism and leave behind criticism like MADIBAL deed.

Believe it not Nigeria has one of the best ICT market in Africa same applied to web hosting services. Look more closely you will find the good provider.

My best wished to you all

Re: Dont Patronise Nigeria Web Hosting Company by niyyie(m): 4:46am On Mar 24, 2015
Are there good web hosts in Nigeria? Yes
Are there mediocre "web hosts"? Plenty.

One way of choosing a good web host is to check how long they have been in business and their track record. Bundling ALL web hosts into a bundle of mediocrity is a bit of a stretch.
