I intend to start my blog which is targeted at readers from America, Canada, Australia, China and India but I intend to use a local host (whogohost or qservers) mainly due to 2 reasons. 1. Higher cost of foreign hosts, 2. Difficulty of paying for foreign hosts. How good is my decision and hope the local hosting won't affect the speed at which my blog loads in the targeted countries. If this will do, kindly suggest good foreign host that is relatively cheap and how to pay. Thanks |

I have never used a local host and as such do not have any experience about them to share, but in all sincerity, I don't trust them (I understand this is questionable). - That said, since you're targeting foreign audiences, I'd advise you use a host with servers in America, at least. - What host to use is another debate-worthy topic. 1 Like |

There's no difficulty or nothing expensive with paying for foreign HOST..... I mean I don't understand it are you guys afraid of dollars or what? Host your blog or namecheap or simply host it with one of the local host companies if you're afraid to use the foreign ones..

KubwaBoy:Like I stated earlier, there's a debate about which host to use, but one still has to go for one. - Hosting business is not a dead easy business; it has to be robust in order to sustain. - The reason for the debate is that most of the popular hosting companies around have been acquired by another company by the name of EIG and they don't usually manage the business as customers would want them to. The commonest issue is customer care, i.e they don't respond swiftly to customers' complaints. - That said, Bluehost is good, Hostgator is not bad and many more you can use. - One non-EIG company is Namecheap (yes, Namecheap sells both domain and hosting) and they take their customers seriously. - I personally recommend Namecheap, Bluehost and 1and1. - All of them operate in US Dollars, but you can pay with your MasterCard ATM cards. - Hope that helps. 1 Like |

Technically you don't really need to host your stuff in the USA if you intend targeting USA audience. Long as your host whether local or foreign host is fast and are never going to be offline all of the time(even if its just for a day). Then you're good to go. DOn't listen to the bullshyte about hosting your stuff where your audience are. There's no strong basis for that.. I'm not advising you to patronise any of the local guys because a majority of them have proven to be riddled with mediocrity. But if you can get a local host that won't go offline(downtime) or any other stupid issues, then you're good and be sure their servers are fast. |
