NEW: Liverpool Make €13m + Player Offer for Forward July 1, 2018 Owen Maers Liverpool have reportedly made their interest concrete in Nigerian winger Moses Simon with a formal offer sent to Belgian side Gent. A bid was tabled to Gent recently, according to owngoalnigeria, the offer is €13m and also includes the loan of Liverpool youngster Taiwo Awoniyi. While the source is not very popular, this doesn’t mean it’s not credible as other publications have previously mentioned Simon’s name. The 22-year-old caught the eye of Liverpool and other English clubs due to his performances for Gent last season – directly involved in nine goals across the 33 games he featured in. Simon caught the eye in the leadup to this year’s World Cup but unfortunately missed the tournament due to a back injury. Embed from Getty Images The contest for a place in the starting 11 was between him and Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi – Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr praised Simon for his pace and defensive work-rate, two essential qualities that could have gave the Super Eagles the edge to get out of a tough group. You’d be forgiven for not knowing much about Moses Simon – with no World Cup showcase and the fact he plays his football in Belgium. The only fact that you’ve picked up is that his middle name is Daddy. Yes, you read that right. However, I’m here to help, as I’ve previously mentioned his pace is impressive and this combined with his dribbling makes him the archetypal winger. Solomon Fowowe, a football writer at The Guardian Nigeria, compared Simon to Liverpool’s own Sadio Mane: “(He reminds) a little bit of Sadio Mane, if you like because he’s direct when he embarks on the way to go and he knows when to go on those dribbles when he gets close to goal. He has a whole lot of speed about him and it really works well.” Should this be true, it would be an excellent acquisition for Liverpool, the need for depth on the wings is obvious to all of us and Simon would fill that void. Klopp’s record with developing young players is well documented, so the addition of the Nigerian to the squad would be excellent, however, it may be at the detriment of a young English player like Ryan Kent. Embed from Getty Images With Moses Simon’s contract with Gent set to expire next June, Liverpool will likely start putting the pressure on in the coming weeks starting with the bid tabled. Gent will be well aware of the embarrassment of riches that the Premier League clubs have at their disposal and the attempts to drive the price up would have already begun. With player power more prevalent than ever and Simon likely keen to move to one of the leading leagues in Europe as soon as possible, should the rumours of a bid be true you’d imagine Liverpool could get this deal wrapped up should they desire to. http://c.newsnow.co.uk/A/944574031?-21310:8643:3 |

komekn:Trust me, the bigness of where you play have absolutely nothing to do with getting the best world cup performances. Why are many still yet to just come to terms with this glaring and simple fact. Argentina Vs Nigeria is a good example. Our midfield trumped theirs despite all the big names they paraded. Etebo had a good good WC and he's even in Stoke. If Mexico beats Brazil today now, you'd see why I keep saying so. but it doesn't during the stance I have that where you play have nothing to do with reaching the finals. 7games is all there is to play and passion and determination makes mistakes difference. That's why the youngsters are having a great world cup compared to dem veterans. |

Ex-Eaglet Chukwueze To Join Villareal First Team For Pre-season June 30, 2018 2:22 pm Ex-Eaglet Chukwueze To Join Villareal First Team For Pre-season By James Agberebi Former Golden Eaglets star Samuel Chukwueze will be going on pre-season tour with the Villarreal first team ahead of the 2018/2019 La Liga season. Got something to say? The let your voice be heard! Back Pass *Sport related topics only* This was revealed by a close source to the 2015 U-17 FIFA World Cup winner. Chukwueze’s inclusion in the first team for their pre-season tour is as a result of his impressive performances for Villareal’s youth sides. The 19-year-old started the season with Villareal’s U-19 team and also played for the team C, but after an impressive campaign which saw him net seven goals playing from the wings including an hat-trick in a 8-3 win over UCD Murcia, the club promoted him to the team B. The former Diamond Academy player continued his goal scoring form for the team B in their run to the Segunda play-off final which they lost to Elche. https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/ex-eaglet-chukwueze-to-join-villareal-first-team-for-pre-season/ |

Ujah Scores In Mainz Pre-Season Friendly Rout Of Phonix June 30, 2018 8:09 pm Ujah Scores In Mainz Pre-Season Friendly Rout Of Phonix By James Agberebi: Nigeria striker Anthony Ujah was on target for his Bundesliga club Mainz 05 who thrashed German seventh-tier side JFK SV Phonix 12-0 in a pre-season friendly on Saturday. Got something to say? The let your voice be heard! Back Pass *Sport related topics only* The game was part of Mainz’s preparation heading into the 2018/2019 German football season. Ujah scored with five minutes remaining in the first half to make it 3-0 in favour of Mainz. Mainz will kick off their league campaign with a home game against Stuttgart on August 25. They ended last season in the 14th position in the 18-club Bundesliga final table last season. Ujah failed to score a single goal after 12 appearances in all competitions following his return to German football from Chinese Super League club Liaoning in January, 2018. https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/ujah-scores-in-mainz-pre-season-friendly-rout-of-phonix/ |

komekn:Really!? I don't think we really approached them with the mind to intergrate them in the team. Na eyes service approach just to fullil all righteousness. Anyway, I agree they are EPL materials and potentially good enough to make mid table teams if they don't get to play for those big clubs. Actually, Klopp really likes Ojo. He called him from loan two seasons ago and brought him to the first team where he had game time. He really impressed in in the EPL with 3 assists from 8 matches. He even scored a goal and assisted once in 6 games he played in FA cup tournament. The injury he suffered made him loose form and eventually saw go down to get fitness. I think he may play some part in FA cup since Liverpool are into many competitions. Salah can't play all. Onomah could still play part in the EPL if he is loaned to a mid table or stays with Tottenham. |

Certitude:Mikel is the past, time to look for the future. I hope u see that. Planning for at least the next 2 years, Mikel cannot be your playmaker. As long as he is on the team, Iwobi or any other creative type will not be allowed to grow. Idowu was ok, but bland. Coach likes him so he will continue to play. Im looking at it from risk and reward...I dont see the reward with him. He scored a brilliant goal in our friendly vs Argentina and can go forward, but I know he cannot be our best option. Omeruo had one great game vs Iceland....He was awesome.....but the Messi goal clearly showed why he hasnt started in a while...he got beaten for pace from a long pass over the top. He has tried for his career, but we need to look at the future, not past. |

diadem10:Talking like if you have not seen Nacho score long range goals, deliver quality set pieces, make good crosses, give fine passes including long ones. The fact is we need to up our system to a more creative one to get the best from our players. Ighalo thrived when the Argentines committed men to get the winner towards the close of the game. When he came on earlier, he was swallowed and could not cause the Argentines problems. Finito. |

easyelliot:Messi beats a large percentage of players by pace. That is why he is one of the most gifted players in the history of football. I do not think Messi beating Omeruo for pace should be counted as a negative for Omeruo. Keep in mind Messi was micro seconds ahead to the shot. |

edi287:Obi - if a player is not what he once was, shouldn't he be replaced? Give him the Seychelles game to show if he can duplicate his club form I keep hearing about Shehu- is an ok player, but just because he was one the first off the bench doesnt mean anything except the coach sees value in him or powers that be see his name.....I mean value ![]() Idowu - is ok abeg, but we can do better Omeruo - had one great game and then a stinker. We all saw how messi beat him for that goal. U dont think France would have done the same? With his experience, he should have fouled Messi for a pk instead of....but he couldnt even catch him to foul ![]() |

Certitude:Hasn't he earned it already ? He is our most inform scorer over the last 10 games for Nigeria. I like Etebo ( even though he is moving to epl div2), but when was the last time Etebo scored for Nigeria ?Iwobi cant score, which he has done for Nigeria, from the bench. |

Aluko In Action As Reading Lose First Pre-Season Friendly June 30, 2018 3:26 pm By James Agberebi Nigeria forward Sone Aluko was in action for Championship club Reading in their 2-1 loss to National League side (fifth-tier) Eastleigh in a pre-season friendly match on Saturday. The game was Reading’s first pre-season friendly and is part of their preparations ahead of the 2018/2019 Championship campaign. Paul McCallum opened scoring for Eastleigh in the 13th before Leandro Bacuna drew Reading leveled on 78 minutes. But with four minutes left, Ben Williamson scored the winner for Eastleigh to give them the 2-1 win. Reading next pre-season friendly game is against AFC Wimbledon next Saturday. soetanoreoluwa:No, the Arsenal and La Liga gigs are just eye service. There is nothing concrete going on there, its not like they are sending Arsen Wenger to come and give lectures or something. There are no badges at the end of it and it is normally some young guys who have never been on a touchline before. I know of MFM sending Fidelis Ilechukwu to get his CAF B badge but that's about it. I think the LMC to implement a law that states all coaches in the league must be CAF licensed. If we don't have enough CAF licensed coaches then the clubs should go out of the country and find them. The players should not keep suffering just because. |
