there's a thin line between depression and suicide

if you've been there you'll understand

but how i usually survive mine is telling myself that i can't toe the coward line of committing suicide and this too will surely pass and become a part of my testimony.
I don't get how you lot think suicide is cowardice. Aware of the pain, he lit himself on fire and you call him a coward?

No, sir. The fear of dying is the reason you cannot do it.

However, If the supposition that suicide is cowardice gives you comfort to hold on, sure...believe that.

Exactly! Loss of employment, societal rejection and the feeling of abandonment lead this young man down the road of drugs, depression and ultimately suicide.

This administration has recorded exponential suicide rates. May we not repeat this mistake in 2019.
You got it right...

Where there's life there's hope. So long as someone or something in problem is alive, there is hope for recovery. You are not alone in the struggles of life, taking your life is not the best solution. That's what I'm trying to say yesterday and some people are busy bashing me. We have seen some people who wrote jamb almost 6times, they didn't commit suicide, they are determined and today they re great. Then why will you kill yourself just because you wrote jamb three times ? just because of pressure? When you finally face and resolve the challenges in your mind, you will be ready to stand up to the challenges in your external world. For those people calling me bastard yesterday, If you face little challages in your life coz there's no way you won't face challenges in this life, pls don't man up and fight your challenges just kill yourself..

We don't own our lives, it belongs to God, but we manage it for God! ... We don't know the future so should not take our lives over fear .
Great thinker bless up..

Unfortunately this means nothing to our leaders. His debts due to high cost of running generator and taxes might have forced him into acute depression. We all have our limits in life. He just got to his finished line. Farewell Comrade......Aluta Continua

Oloriburuku SalamRushdie, when has there been no hardship in Nigeria? You want the government to continue importing junk thar we are capable of producing. ....or buhari should force you idiots back to the farm to go and grow food. Exactly what are you uneducated ignorant morons expecting after wasting away billions of hard earned dollars during GEJ time living fake lives over the place. Or is it the wretched unviable Biafra that you cannot get that is worrying your head? Cunt.

Basic problem in Nigeria is that such moves usually end up being divided along tribal and religious lines.

Back in 2012...there was a strike against fuel price rises. A section of the country stayed home, a section protested.

In 2016, there was a fuel price rise. The section that stayed home in 2012 protested, the ones that protested in 2012 were staying at home.

For you guys in the opposition, it is very easy to bring down a sitting government, but the thing is, what do you have to replace it? The same system, but this time, favouring your side.

Yes, get your PVC....but then let's vote for PDP or APC....and the old show continues. Don't vote for someone new...it is scary.
nah. Same set of people protested for fuel price hike.

The South East and South South stayed home on both occasions of fuel price hike.

Use another analogy

Commit suicidee is against the will of God, so no matter how worst is ur situation, you supplicate to God Almighty and ask Him to solve it for you. Prophet Muhammad (saw) said, whoever commits suicide either by hanging, jump into river, jumping into well or set urself ablaze, you will be treated same way in d hell fire. Whoever commits suicide here on earth will enter hell fire no matter how good his deeds here on earth.

A barber has taken his own life after setting himself ablaze on a road leading to Omole Estate, near Akiode Bus Stop, Lagos.

He died while he was receiving treatment at a hospital.

The barber had reportedly emerged on the road around 4:30pm on Wednesday holding a five-litre jerrycan of petrol.

He subsequently poured the fuel on his body; struck a match and lit himself.

Our correspondent learnt that a passerby, who was standing a few metres away from the scene, rushed to put out the fire.

The young man, who was identified simply as Ahmed, was said to have died shortly after he was rescued from the scene around 5:00pm by officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Services.

Before the arrival of the emergency officials and policemen from the Ojodu Division, it was gathered that a mild drama played out.

“While a man used a piece of torn carton to fan the man, some passersby were busy taking his photograph,” an eyewitness, Dolapo Gabriel, told Saturday PUNCH,

Gabriel stated that Ahmed was running a barber’s shop until his life recently took a drastic turn.

“I saw him pouring the fuel on himself but I thought it was water. Within seconds, he brought out a pack of matches from his pocket and set himself ablaze. Fortunately, a food seller close to the gate had some water. A man quickly took the water to put out the fire. Some people and I joined him. It was strange to me,” he added.

A resident, who introduced himself simply as Tolu, explained that he saw Ahmed walking along the road on Monday and advised him on the need to turn a new leaf.

He said

, “He was a barber and used to have a shop around Akiode. He closed the shop sometime ago and started roaming about the neighbourhood. He smoked a lot which I think affected his brain.

“Two days ago, I met him on the road and talked to him that he needed to change. I told him that I would take him to church next Sunday for special prayers. He asked me to buy roasted corn for him which I did after he assured me he would follow me to the church.”

Another eyewitness, Samuel, described Ahmed as a drug addict, saying that he had been mentally unstable for some time.

“Many people around here know him. He used to be a decent person before he suddenly changed as a result of drugs. He lived with his family within this community and they are aware of his plight,” she said.

A senior emergency official told our correspondent on Friday that Ahmed gave up the ghost while he was receiving treatment.

“It is unfortunate that we could not save the man’s life. He died while receiving treatment and his corpse had been handed over to his family,” the official disclosed.
