My Experience Playing Virtual. How I Broke The Addiction by Greenarrow01(m): 9:38am On Jul 08, 2018
Good morning, folks
First of all, don't mind the English, be more concerned with the message I am trying to pass across.

Base on a front page topic this morning, I decided to share my experience and I hope one or two will learn from it.

My sincere apologies to my dad(a nairalander) bae and all my friends who are nairalanders and may see this

I was a good gentle man full of business ideas and a good dreamer before I met virtual.  I was (am) good with stuffs.. was a reader.. I know a lot of stuffs about history, about religion, about politics, about technology and whole lots of stuffs.  my mates could attest to the fact that I was super intelligent. And in vogue.   my mechanic dad nd trader mum had high hopes.. been the first to get admitted into a university in my extended family (paternal).
I made friends and the my future looked promising..
Got admission into the university 2012.

2015, I started gambling.. after I failed to convince my friends to allow us to be the first set of people to open a virtual shop in my city then.
I did something crazy then.. got a winning formula I discovered and used then, i didn't tell anyone while playing real games.. until 1960bet packed up.. so i forayed into virtual. Spent all my savings and pocket money on virtual..

My project money too was spent on virtual.. I was living in a flat before then.. I spent my house rent on  virtual.. my school fees on virtual.. and lol i was a final year student..
The top of the matter  was when my very good friend gave me school fees to keep for him.. already spent baes school fees without her knowledge on virtual.. I used my friend school fees to pay baes school fees. Cause her exam was in two days time and she was already heating things up.. my friends exam was in two weeks I think then..

My friends were so mad... they called my parents and reported to everybody possible...
My school won't allow people to write exam then without  paying school fees..

My landlord was already impatient.. I think it was already getting to the seventh month of owning house rent.
One Sunday afternoon. Out of the blues.. policemen came from the state CID lol to whisk me away.. everybody was outside.. begging and pleading on my behalf.. I was this good street boy and everyone loved me.. so they couldn't bare to see me handcuffed... lol pls note ... I don't drink.. smoke or womanize... I go to church daily and I was just this damn good boy.. very respectful.. my saving grace was the fact that my aged neighbour..whom prior that.. I had always fetch at Least 5 buckets of water for everymorning for about two years..was a retired police officer..

I was told to sign an undertaking and my parents were briefed about the situation..

My parents borrowed to pay up.... i couldn't complete or even start my final year project nor write my exams and 4 months later, my landlord evicted me and I had to put up with bae.. in her hostel.

I was always hungry.. sometimes will go days without food... look I am not exaggerating, there was a time I spent 3 days with only 2 cups of garri and no sugar as food.. despite all this.. I will trek about 3 kilometres to visit my bet shop.. when I get there I will borrow 50 or so just to play virtual.

One word

Addiction kills,

gambling destroys visions and shatters dreams.

Stay away from gambling.

Was with bae for two years and things got better thou..
With help from my crazy parents.. bae and  my will, I was able to get over it... after a long time...
But I dropped out of the university with just a semester remaining.. and lost really good friends..

Within less than two years of stopping virtual, things have gotten better.. my only regret is that I have lost time and I can't recoup it..

I now have a school in a small village up north where I teach (Hausa kids) pro bono (free) I also have 4 other staff members.. i now have an international partner/mentor who believes in me.. and we 're cooking up something. Not quite long.. I won a 1 million naira entrepreneurship competition...(I have once applied for this competition nd failed). I will be 24 soon and I am so grateful.

next time u are tempted to play virtual,
go with empty pocket, take a pen and paper, forecast games and write the amount u wish to bet, keep writing ur winnings and ur loss. At the end of the day, do a check and balance on how much u could have lost if u came out with money.
try that for 1week, u will be thanking God from saving u from staking ur money

Lessons.

Look for a girlfriend that is responsible..who will spend time with you and try to take it off your mind.. (bae was instrumental in helping me drip this habbit.. always nagging.. insulting and threatening me lol)

Leave where you are right now go somewhere far..where there is no virtual shops there... for example.. up north.. there are only few betshops ..due to strict sharia laws and stigma attached to it...

Pls find something to do.. you can volunteer in an organisation or look for a job that will always demand your presence.. something to keep you occupied.. just something.

Talk to the person you respect most it maybe your uncle..pastor or imam.  Just someone you 're afraid of and value their thoughts towards you.

Prayers doesn't change this habit guy.. just do something with your time.. something that won't give you the freedom of leaving for 20 minutes during the day

Give your most trusted person any money or fund that comes your way..(bae became in control of my finances then.. I couldn't spend a dime without her knowing.. the money was with her.. there was no way I could ask for money to bet.

Quick question guys..

Is it possible for me to finalize my education after 5years of leaving school i wanna go back to complete my last semester in two years time..
In advance countries.. you can come back after 10 years to complete it.. don't know about here..

I am about to start an online degree.. but it is really expensive and I am just sceptical.

Nice story, Any form of Addiction is not good

I still don't know how people get addicted to gabbling tho, but then I am addicted to sugar and most people also find that silly

I think the major difference between you and guy on front page is the suffering and pain you went through after you made the mistake.

The guy on the front page will not heal as long as his parents are always there to provide support and love
whenever he screws up.

It is like giving money to a drug addict

He must learn to be a Man first

easiest way to stop an addiction is to get engaged or get another addiction.....we all have one things we ate all hooked to: some na yahoo, some it is women, some na booze, others is gossips,telemundos...some are better than others......one thing you should know about virtual is it is programmed for people to lose and always know when to walk away.

it is very possible

I believe you need to walk into your department or faculty office and request for your transcript. A transcript is a list containing your academic records.

The transcript will give your university or any other universities you decide to complete your degree an idea of the subjects/courses you have completed and the ones you still need to complete.

You will require an institution to institution transfer if you are transferring to another university. Hence, you might not be able to access your transcripts yourself.

The procedures to secure a transcript in most state/federal universities are always stressful and tedious. So I suggest you start as soon as possible if you attended a state or federal university.

Thanks so much.. how long do you think this will take.. and i attended a state university.

I wanna resume next year. It will be 4 years after I left the university with no letter leave of absence or whatsoever

I don't think it really matters because there are already specified numbers of course works you need to complete before being awarded a degree in any higher institution in the world.

I presume you have already completed some of the requirements(course works) to attain a university degree , So except your school have some strange rules. I think you should be allowed to continue, perhaps you might have to pay some fines

Some state universities can take up to a year. unless you know your way around and probably ready to bribe your way through

Nonetheless, yours might be different..

Good luck

go back to your school
get to your department and registry to make inquiries about it.

they will be better inform about that than here

but to my understanding..... you can still go and complete your reaming course unit and they may still mandate you to add other courses to make it a session because they won't allow you to register for just a semester.

that's all I know

good luck as you pursue your dreams and leave the world of gambling

Y'all gamblers should learn from this guy post...

Zoha.rariel:

I am going to help you even though I am not a gambler. Around 2013, I was at Cele Bus Stop on Akowonjo Road in Egbeda drinking beer & eating pepper soup with a friend.

There was a Baba Ijebu kiosk just by the beer parlour. It was on a Saturday evening and I noticed people in their tens trooping towards the Baba Ijebu kiosk.

And then suddenly, I saw a policeman alighted from a Sienna van with his wife and walked towards that Baba Ijebu kiosk.

Then Iblis (Satan) entered into my friend and he told me we should go to the Baba Ijebu kiosk to observe what was going on. grin

I plugged the bottle of my Heineken beer into my mouth & downed the content in a gulp. We got up and matched in the direction of the Baba Ijebu kiosk like soldiers going for illegal oil bunkering in Port Harcourt. grin

I noticed people were yelling at the Baba Ijebu agent to input & play some numbers for them. grin

An Igbo guy pulled over by the kiosk & alighted from his Infinity FX something (I can no longer remember the model). He stretched forth his hand to pass a slip of paper on which some numbers were written to the Agent.

Guess what? Right in front of my eyes, the Igbo guy staked 50,000Naira on just 3 numbers. shocked

As the agent was punching the numbers into his red machine, I positioned my neck like a Peruvian giraffe just to catch a glimpse of those numbers - and I saw "single 5, 12, 48". I quickly brought out my Blackberry phone and typed the numbers in my notepad so that I do not forget them.

I equally copied more numbers from other "professional gamblers" who were at the kiosk to play the lotto.

Eventually, I staked about 4,500Naira on 11 different numbers altogether. My friend did the same. We were handed a ticket confirming the transaction & we went back to the beer parlour & ordered more drinks while awaiting the results. grin

An hour later, a guy who was at the kiosk when I played came shouting "Bros, you don win, result don commot". I left my beer & jumped to the kiosk like a cheetah chasing an impala. grin

I quickly gave my ticket to the agent, he looked at the numbers told me I had won 37,000Naira including my friend. We started jubilating& gyrating. We collected our winnings & ordered 2 cartons of guilder for our well wishers & the people who congratulated us on account of our glorious success. grin cheesy grin

And that was how my 3-month internship with Baba Ijebu and my journey into gambling was commissioned & activated by Iblis (Satan) and his entire hosts from Hell Fire. grin cheesy grin

My Advice To You:

I want you to write the following quote boldly on a thick piece of paper, laminate it, keep it in your wallet and be reading it out loudly morning & night for the rest of your life. grin

"Gambling is the child of avarice, the brother of iniquity, and the father of mischief.” – George Washington
