Having a national carrier is not a bad idea. Nigeria has a country with massive population can not but have a national carrier to leverage on the populaces and also, provide jobs, expertises, profits and eleminates shabby treatments being meted to Nigerians on other airlines.
I believe, the new airline will live up to expectations by bridging many gaps in vacuum.
On the issue of mismanagement, which airlines in Nigeria had survived for long, it's either the owners emblezzed or staffed the organization with non professionals - Arik as a case study.
If the airline can see the light of the day, it will be like a diamond in the sky and pride of all Nigerians.

Akwa Ibom should look into having National carrier patronize MRO. The state needs to be proactive with this opportuinity. Getting cargo opperations as soon as possible is just as important. Other than that Ive never cared for this national carrier plan.

Lol they better be correct about being ready. Anyway the ASATM will make flying cheaper. Its too expensive flying around Africa anyway. A flight from Nigeria to Mauritius cost a fortune.

Biafra, Oodua, Islamic republic of Arewaland, and middle belt will think deep and develop when the country is no more. Fulani herdsmen or boko haram will only be found in Islamic republic of Arewa.

$300 million won't even buy you a brand new boeing 777X. And you need at least 2 to have a proper start off.

It is a laudable initiative to bring back the national carrier. If Rwanda can run a successful national carrier, there is absolutely no reason Nigeria can not.

I hope this initative will see the light of the day, and most importantly if it did, that it won't be mismanaged and run aground like the defunct Nigerian Airways

That is not true.

Nigeria Airways was still a working airline by 1988 when I flew as a passenger on an international flight no less.

Plus Nigeria Airways failed because the people running it did not run it properly, not because government.

For instance during the second Republic, politicians and their hangers on got away without paying things like excess duty

And if you want to blame government, blame IBB not Bubu.

And no, it does not mean Bubu is a good leader
