I had same issue with Glo 4G LTE for my area. Is like I dey at outskirts of the coverage area but d amplifier helps to boost the signal. I place the mifi device where there is signal and boost it with the amplifier.

I get better performance on phone than on my mifi. So, I dont think getting a mifi will help.
