OK, Thanks
Jewel80:

Surprisingly, it was only my proof of fund pdf file that was above 4mb. All other files were not, even the one that contained my sop and all my docs. I made good use of my pages. 1 page might contain 2 or 3 docs, all titled seperately.

Meanwhile, i went online to compress the other file. I just googled how to compress pdf file. Something came up, i chose one of the links, and they showed me where to upload the file, i did and the site just compressed my file. I hope this helps.

Check the message section on your profile if you applied online, you will see a CORRESPONDENCE LETTER. If you don’t have it, kindly send them a mail. You will need it at the airport when you enter Canada. If you applied via paper route, the letter will come with your passport.

So check. Congrats, See you in Halifax

When can the correspondent letter be sent? Is it before passport pick up or during passport pickup. I applied online

I applied online too and I just got mine. Visa info has also been updated on my portal. I paid for courier and I have not received my passport yet. Visa was approved July 4.

After pick up mostly, it will appear in your cic account, sometimes you have to send them a mail at (LAGOSIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca) before they will update your account with it

The correspondent letter is meant to be sent immediately the embassy receives your passport for stamping. Immediately you get a notification that your application has been approved after you’ve submitted your passport, the correspondence letter is expected to come with the notification. You should get it before you receive your stamped passport. However, it is not always like that. I sent a mail to cic and within 24 hrs I got my letter.

Send them a mail if you don’t have it.

Attached is the comment from my GCMS note

I think it is too generic and vague and it doesn't tell me anything.

My only thought is that maybe I need a better SOP/LOE.

Please house help to analyse

What is your undergraduate grade? What is UG discipline and what are you going for?
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by kpizzle: 5:55pm On Jul 12, 2018
Computer Science 2.1, 2.9/4.0, master in management science.

I am surprise VO are concern with one's grade. The school has done their due diligence and given the admission.

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Phocusjosh(m): 6:09pm On Jul 12, 2018
It's not vague, just that you could not convince the VO enough the need to study your intended course of study at University of Waterloo. Why do you wish to study in Canada in the program for which you have been accepted?, What is your overall educational goal and overall career goal?, What have you been doing (by way of employment/professional development) since the completion of your undergraduate studies and now?, How will this program enhance your employment opportunities in your country of residence/citizenship? (i.e. how will your skill be valuable to the Nigerian market?), i.e. briefly explain the impact of your course on your future career and your home country
6. Why are you not pursuing a similar program in your country of residence?

The key reason for writing an SOP is to demonstrate to the embassy that your purpose of visiting Canada is genuine, and that you will come back to Nigeria after your studies. It has to be very persuasive and convincing. Btw, the VO knows that you might not come back to Naija... they are not idiots... what they need to be convinced about is that you would freely come back to Nigeria if you cannot legally stay in Canada anymore.

To convince the VO (visa officer):
1. you will need to be specific about what it is your Canada education would help you do once you come back to Naija. Just saying that you will come back home not convincing
2. you need to be specific about what it is about that program or its curriculum that would help you achieve your stated goals
3. you need to be specific about what it is you have done that makes you a credible applicant

Basically, you need to emphasize on what you have done and exactly what you will do when you return to Nigeria (be very clear and unambiguous about this).

Study permit is given to you based on the years left in your passport. I think you have a year left for your passport to expire. Do not worry when you renew, you will apply for extension. Congrats
