What would you wish that your African/Nigerian
Brothers and sisters know about your people?

I wish them to know that we have the same hopes and dreams like you do. We want to be successful, live well, leave a legacy for our family, find love, and etc. Our journey just started at a different place is all. Oppression in the U.S. didn't just end at slavery. There were generations of abuse after that. My parents are still alive who have first hand experience of what it was like to not be allowed to drink out of the same water fountain as whites. Not being able to go to school because you were black. My grandmother has recounted to me what it was like to hear the Klan coming into town on their horses at night, and everyone hiding and being afraid because you knew there was nothing you could do about it. People, usually men were dragged off into the night, and their dead bodies were found hanging or discarded like trash. These stories are real, and the pain and scars run deep. Those feelings of hurt don't just go away because laws changed or time went on, just like the hate motivating those actions by the oppressor didn't just go away because laws changed. It has taken generations to come out of the devastation that these actions caused. What outsiders label as laziness is merely survival, disappointment, and to some extent defeat. But yet, we have always been survivalists, still maintained hope, and have been able to achieve great things inspite of the adversities. Which we are very proud of. This is why Black Americans get so angry when they hear Africans say, why haven't Black Americans done , a.b.c.d. As if we have been enjoying a picnic over here this whole time. A good insight in what has happened and is still happening over here to Black Americans is the, Letters of Willie Lynch. Very informative read.
Just because we don't share the same culture as you do, doesn't mean we don't have one. Our culture is rich in art and music. We have traditions like jumping the broom at weddings, family reunions in the summer that gather our family from all parts of the U.S., big family dinners on Sundays. We have rich historical black universities that celebrate excellence, classic parades. NAACP and The United Negro Foundation. I could go on. These things are not portrayed in the media, you will only hear the bad things. Im not saying that there aren't things that are bad just, Don't believe the stereotypes. Alot of us come from good homes, are hardworking, and successful. My parents have been married for 35 years, and so have my friend's and many others in my circle.
There are more Black Americans that want to connect with our African brothers/sisters than is portrayed. Whether it is a plot of the Whites, I cant say for sure, but I do know, that it is time to put the misperceptions behind us and band together. At some point, we need to realize, that all we have is each other.

"I have made inadvertent errors in completing the divestitures required by my ethics agreement," Ross said in a statement. "To maintain the public trust, I have directed that all of my equity holdings be sold and the proceeds placed in U.S. Treasury securities."

The admission came after Ross received a letter from OGE general counsel and acting Director David Apol that admonished him for failing to divest from some stocks by Jan 15, 2017, as he had indicated and more recently engaging in stock market activity that appeared aimed at belatedly correcting that error.

Apol told Ross his discrepancies “can undermine public trust in both you and the overall ethics program,” and that his positions and short sale could lead to legal jeopardy. The OGE letter contradicts what Ross has said in the past regarding the ethical and legal nature of the trades in question.

According to the independent ethics office, Ross failed to consult with them about his trades. The office called his attempts to follow ethics guidelines for avoiding conflicts of interest “ineffective.”

But the agency said one of its officials reviewed Ross’ calendars, briefing books and correspondence after potential violations had been flagged in media reports, and found no information indicating a conscious violation of the law.

“However, your failure to divest created the potential for a serious criminal violation on your part and undermined public confidence,” Apol told Ross.

Chicago is a metropolitan city of 9 million people and I am used to the traffic. Most time I take the Blue Line or the Green Line to work and sometimes I drive. Parking in downtown Chicago will cost you about $30 to $35. In fact, I was on the architectural tour both on the Boat on Chicago River with my parents last week. I have done the Double Decker Bus architectural tours too. Don't forget the legendary Chicago Deep dish Pizza and please visit Navy Pier. Taste of Chicago is going on now.

Thanks for the tips. We are going today. We are catching Amtrak so we rule out parking. After I drove a couple of times there, I now go for massit transit.
