Just calm down, US is not Nigeria. Everything is wrong with Nigeria but we are fairly lucky cases of Incurable STIs are not rampant. Have you heard of herpes? More than 3million cases happen in the US per year and its not curable. Once you get it, its over. You should read more about it maybe that will guide you. Herpes could be oral or genital, oral could be contacted through just by kissing. Many beautiful ladies with kardashian body have this and its not written on the face. Herpes is not an STI people test just for, they only test for it if you show symtoms. I don't know how old you are but life is not all about sex, you won't die if you don't have sex for now or at least get a loyal girlfriend. Lets even forget STIs, you want child support to ruin you? These girls are desperate and you need to be careful.

I swear, this post will certainly motivate me not to misbehave when I travel (to Canada) next month.

To me with God with you and this transcript your visa will be approved , u need not tell the VO u wrote any exam since the score isn't impressive.

u can say what u said.

or just kuku say your admission doesn't require any other test after the evaluation. u could just add it to spice things up

but the way u are now u are good to go
thanks alot dear...God bless you

@ quinzypearl and others,

If you're going for grad studies and the vo asks you for a standardized test don't start talking about toefl. The standardized test that they want from grads is gre or gmat. If your program has exception just like the case of quinzpearl, you need to let the vo knows exactly whats going on. I've been seeing many misleading advise flying here lately.

Toefl is not a standardized test required for grad admission. It's an English language test, which can be additionally requested from both undergrads and grads. Search on Google or Wikipedia for the list of standardized tests required for graduate schools in U.S, toefl is not among them.

Anyone that wants to argue is free to continue arguing with their screen about this.
noted...thanks alot, will definitely work on my reply to that question, planning on writing TOEFL exam next week to get a better scores cause Gre is not my calling at all....just praying the resulting comes out before the end of the month so I can use it.

Good day,
Please I am planning to applying to a university for undergraduate studies, and they offer admissions to international students who don't have an English language proficiency test results, but can prove that the language of tutoring in their previous educational institution was English. Is it possible that i will be affected at the embassy because I don't have a proficiency test result.
Please your advice would be appreciated.

Haba, she's not the one applying for masters. Even at that, she can't possibly go from part 1 to part 13. Part 13 is enough.

ToyosiR, tell her to go through the GRe thread on the education section. Securing admission is the first step before processing the visa application.

hey, the best way to find out if they offer funding or not is to mail the coordinator of the program you are applying to and enquire from them. they are the one in best position to tell you the truth, you might not get answers here on nairaland.

when i was applying to alcorn for mba, i couldn't see any funding information on their website and i had to inquire from the director of MBA and he made it clear that their is no G.A at the school of business,, i had to checkout another school. mail the coordinator of your program and ask questions. otherwise, you may be waiting in vain
Thanks, I have mailed the program adviser but he didnt respond.

Give it a shot! Take the risk, even if it doesn't come through, you can defer till spring. The visa would still be vaild

Hi Guys,

For Guys going in for their interviews, please have a "Strong, Convincing but short answer" to the following questions:

Why are you going to the US?
Why you not pursuing it here in Nigeria?
How did you hear of this school?
Why this course?
Will you be specializing?
Tell me about it?
What will an MSC do for you?
How many schools did you apply to?
Name them?
What is the relationship between all these schools?
Why did you choose this school?
Did you take any standardized test?
What did you score?
Who is sponsoring you?
What does he/she do?
Where would you be staying over at the university?
Tell me your about study plan?
Plans after graduation?
will you be receiving a monthly stipend?
Do you have an idea how much that is?
when did you finish University?
What have you been doing since then?

General Tips:
1. Do not cram your answers but have an idea of all you are going to say. Easier that way to build your sentences when you forget what you planned to say.
2. While waiting on the queue, listen to all the questions asked by the VOs to applicants ahead of you and build strong answers there on the queue (if you did not prepare for such questions)
3. Do not fret, do not let the numerous blue papers issued out make you lose your confidence
4. Do not answer what you are not asked.
5. If you have funding or impressive GRE/GMAT/SAT scores, please try to talk about your scores in one of your answers early in your interview. Please be reasonable.
(VO: How are you?
You: I have funding/ I scored 326/340) OYO oooo
6. Do not set yourself up. Dont start talking too much on things you do not have knowledge about, it will lead to more questions.
7. PRAY LIKE YOU NEVER PREPARED
PREPARE LIKE THERE'S NO GOD.
