This is the moment Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika unveiled the new national airline at the Farnborough International Airshow in London.

“The Nigerian Government will not own more than 5% (maximum) of the new National Carrier. The government will not be involved in running it or deciding who runs it,” he said

He added that government is in talks with aircraft providers, “We’ve been talking to Airbus and Boeing (and they’re present at this event) regarding the aircraft for and we will be making announcements very soon. We are currently negotiating.”

Well, the above statement makes me glad but I hope it would be done as it is said. Ethiopian Airways (a leading African Airline) is concessioned and run by a a private firm with Government owning a small percentage.

BTW, poor people don't fly. The government should strive to bridge the big gap between the rich and the poor. So far, their performance in this regard is abysmal.
