I don't really think they said why The master Abbot locked it. I think we will know the truth about that in the next episode, now that she has given her the power back.

Come to think of it, i have a narrative about the Widow and Sunny powers. Maybe, just maybe the widow is actually Sunny's sister.

Sunny's power was locked inside of him by someone still unknown. While the Widow's power was taken complete out of her body by the Master Abbot.

The youth version of Widow in Bajie's flashback fits the same age with the youth version of Sunny in Sunny's flashback at the ship.

And we know it was Bajie that brought the Widow to the monastery. What if Bajie took her off boat same way someone toom Sunny off the boat.

Given how Widow fought at the monastery, the Master Abbot might have figured out who she was. And decided it's in her own interest that she never uses the power.

If that's the case, then the Master Abbot took more than te Widow's power she also took her memory from the time at the ship.

Later on, Sunny became a cog more while the Widow became a servant girl for Chao's dad. And since their memory was taken, that will explain why they don't recognize each other.

Okay. I wish i had that episode of the captain with sunny. Would have watched it again. Do you know the people that attacked the ship? Do you know how skilled they would have been. Sunny was like 12-14 years old there. There is no way her sister could have put one hell of a fight against them (the people that attacked the ship).

Am guessing they were those men in reds who attacked the older sunny at the river king place. For Sunny's sister to put up one hell of a fight against those people. She would be like 20-25 years old. So she can't be 20-25 years on that ship and still be Sunny's sister when sunny was 12-14 years old.

The new actress might be anybody. Remember someone locked Sunny's powers. And from the last episode, we can ASSUME, the Master Abbot took the widow's power.

If you read my comments on this thread, you'll see my first assumption was that Sunny's sister is dead.

But after much debating here. Am second guessing it could be the widow. Sunny and the Widow have similar pattern since the beginning of the series. For starters, they were servants when they came to the Badlands. Sunny as a Cog and the Widow as a maid for Chao's dad.

They're dark ones who don't possess their powers and can't seem to remember what their life during the time of Astra.

@Bolded. Just rewatch episode 7. Make sure u listen words to words the conversation btw Sunny and the captain of the ship. Also when Sunny came back to River king to look for list of people that came onboard on that ship (The Captain told him that River king keeps record on those onboard his ship) , He saw the list on top river king table but before he could grasp well for is to see the Black lotus attack due to setup by River king. AMC didn't allow us to see the picture well. although they purposely did that to keep us in suspence mode like this. So lets wait and see what will happen later.
