I haven't flew with either carrier. My mom has flew with Quatar airways and she thinks their service is top notch. I guess Qutar since they have impeccable service.
Ethiopian airways I am yet to use. However Qatar is something else. Didn’t enjoy their service the four times I utilized them.

With all the rotten airports aka “GRAZING COLONIES” all over Nigeria? shocked

Instead of this M0R0NIC government to upgrade all airports and transportation systems first? undecided

Dunces!

I have neither used any of the airlines so not sure of their services. But I am proud of Ethiopia airlines, it looks like a well run organization ( considering African and their mostly mismanagement attitudes).

Qatar is not bad either.

But what I find interesting tho is how Nigerian Air is not even fully operational and companies are fighting to be the majority shareholder.
huge market

The same Mustafa Chike-Obi that couldn't manage AMCON properly, now has mouth to talk. He was booted out from office for mismanagement.
Let the best airline buy the largest shares.
God bless Nigeria.

That is what the minister is trying to explain and people don't want to listen. Nigeria is only selling the brand name. The airline is going to be almost fully owned and run by private entities. That is the normal practice nowadays, Government have no business running it that was why previous arrangements didn't work, that is why South African airline and Kenya airline are not making profit.
But Ethiopian airline is making profit because it is privatised,it is not being run or owned by Ethiopian government. So if they buy into Nigeria Air,it is not the Ethiopian government that is buying,it is a private coy
Are you sure of what you are saying? Ethiopian Air is owned 100% by the Government. Qatar Airways is also state owned.

Please check your sources and counter.

Waiting!

Nigerians have made up their mind that Government is not supposed to run anything...that's why the country is a mess

The two companies (Ethiopian and Qatar) reported to be interested are state owned,,but Nigerians are trying to convince themselves that what is needed is just the brand name

What a pity
Re: Nigeria Air: Qatar & Ethiopian Airlines Compete To Own Largest Share by Nobody: 7:23am On Jul 22, 2018
If they can show us the modalities of the proposed shareholding structure until then am not convinced. Air France KLM virgin paid $286m for 31% shareholding while French government shareholding was reduced to about 13%, but in Nigeria Air 5% shareholding from FG translates to $300m. Hope this is not another scheme to divert money. This is the same ways Visionscope scam was also designed. We really need to look at the shareholding composition first.

Government everywhere is saddled with the responsibility of capacity building. Government can be more efficient in the discharge of their duties and you know it. Let's stop justifying their inefficiency as if that was why they were elected into office just to collect taxes and give excuses for failures.

Thank God you understand that the Nigeria Government is plagued with inefficiencies.. But in the case of Nigeria, there are several factors to be considered as the inefficiencies, such as; Cultural differences, high Power Distance Index, the psycology of Individualism, Religion are all factors that are against the Government from rapidly gaining more capacity to centralize its operations.

Kindly go and check what brought about the failure of the first NigerianAir in 2003, it was sheer Mismanagement, Corruption and overstaffing, something that will later be refer to as Economical Inviable simply because the Government was bleeding cash and couldn't get returns on it's expenditures.

Come to think of it, isn't it highly viable for the government to reduce involvement in businesses like this in order to reduce the hands of corrupt ruffians by giving it out to Private capitalist; we all know that capitalist will never want to loose cash and they also have a well organized structure to run business like this.. pls come to think of it, federal governments 5% involvement is just $300M meaning that the Airway worth over $6Billion in total.. Can Nigeria Government afford to really dash out such huge amount on common Airways?? Let's be a Nigeria citizen by been empathic, that is all the Government require of us and not comparism with other Government whosr system is totally different from ours..

Thank you for taking out the time to share that. But are you aware that 100% of the previous Nigeria Airways from 1961-2003 was owned and controlled by the Government?? Have you taken some of your time to find out the cause of that?? Have you also tried to understand the business of running an Airline?? Have consider several factors that led to Acquisition of just %5 of the new NigerianAirways? If not, kindly do so. Thank God everything is on the Internet..

Wayoooo!

Nigeria Air by name but Ethiopian Air inside.

That's same thing with Imo Air -Okorochas wonder
Nigeria Air capital stock or if you like shares would be 5 per cent owned by the Nigerian goverment , so to speak, and 95 per cent by other investors.

what is happening now is the 95 per cent is up for bid to any potential investor and it seems Qatar air and Ethiopia air are interested. do you understand now?

Oga the issue is to eliminate corruption in government circles instead of ransoming our common wealth on the altar of capitalism when absolutely nothing is being done to improve social welfare of the citizenry

How Nigeria Airways was mismanaged is not the topic of discussion.

He said that having a brand name and allowing other countries (private coy, for him mind) run the show is the new way of doing Airline Business...

If I can remember accurately, your beloved party and his members sold off Nigeria Airways. When was the first time Buhari administration announced the coming back of the Nigeria Air? There is timeline for everything already. No need for scathing remark. We were all here when you guys were giving full backing to successive pdp administrations that were selling everything off. You guys were even telling us that "government had no business being in business".
