Ray power knows the rules.
They're not the first to be fined, and they won't be the last.

A radio station in Ekiti too was temporarily closed for going against journalism ethics.
Did they tell you why they were fined?
You don't know why, but you wanna blame Buhari all the same

Will it interest you to know that Lai Mohammed also made inciting, treasonable comments on that same Political Platform during gej regime?

GBAM!
IamPatriotic:
if you don't listen to the program "political platform" please don't hastily criticise NBC I was an ardent listener of the program until the build up to the 2015 general election, Ihedu Aniagwu now Chief Press Secretary to the Delta State Government was still in DAAR Communication, he was a huge disappointments to ethical journalism, he was a PDP presenter.
Another presenter on the program that should be sanctioned is Ijeoma Osamo although she doesn't know anything other than castigate APC and other tribes other than Igbos.
Mustapha Mohammed is another person on the said program that needs to be cautioned , he supports anything Hausa/Muslim blindly. the only anchor in the program that is not totally guilty of breeching broadcasting ethics is Amaechi Anakwe, Uju Eje and Adebayo Bodunrin the only veteran broadcaster among them.

Surely there has to be a way to contest these fines? Absolute imposition of penalty on the media for views/publications, without option of appeal, opens the regulatory authority to inherent abuse.

Transcripts of the erring opinions must also be released to the public for comparison with available evidences. History is replete with laws covered with the veneer of public good, that were exploited by governments into tools of autocratic repression.
Chai! Nna see Oyibo grammar, "replete and veneer!" Nna wayuo

That's what we get when you have quacks and uneducated Mass communicators as anchors of programmes! The name associates with private ownership, so its synonymous to recruiting friends, friend's of friends, families and friends of families etc.

I think it's time for broadcast organizations to test BON's interference in court. Broadcast organizations shouldn't just assume that because BON has power to sanction it can do so to satisfy vested interest of some in govt.

TAKE BON TO COURT let's know if they're right simple.
NCC not BON...... They are different . one is the regulator ie ncc while bon is the association of broadcasters......... If you breach any regulators rule you pay for it after warnings

If not that Social media is off the power of this tyrant govt, I'm sure they would seize everybody's phones by now to stop the so called "inflammatory" comments made by Nigerians everyday.

Can we just do away with Old cargoes that are recycled to become civilians again?
No they won't need to seize phones , they only need tighten laws on social media..... UK is considering a law that will make Facebook accountable for fake news ........ If its in Africa we will call it gaging of media but Europeans will tell you its in public interest . wake up bro these things happen everywhere...... Some countries banned Facebook , some BlackBerry , EU just fined google for monopoly of search engines ..... The list is endless .

Songs of Tupac? Are they for real? So Jay z and Kanye amongst others can be played? Clearly this people are from the devil

Tupac is by far the greatest rap artist of all time. His lyrics inspire, encourage, comfort and motivate... So Eminem that insults his mom is better than Tupac who wrote and rapped by far the most moving song for a mom?
Apparently they are more comfortable with us listening to nonsense. Tupac makes us think and they obviously don't want that

This is why we must do EVERYTHING to resist Social media regulation which they masquerade as 'Anti-fake news' bill. Lie mohammed and his fellow media bandit must be kept at arm's lenght from tampering with the freedom of expression of nigeria online. He enjoyed his during PDP regime, he now wants to tamper with the freedom of nigerians because him and his principal are at the receiving end.

I'm looking at it from the general perspective; trying, to control the media. We need accurate up-to-the-minute reportage of events, not some controlled fraction.
Re: FG Clamps Down On Ray Power’s ‘Political Platform’; Imposes Fine by justlegacy: 7:16am On Jul 29, 2018
NBC should tell us what they said that makes it an inciting allegation.

If it is about the siege of the house of the sanate president and his deputy, then truely we are back to the era of Abacha.
On 24th of July was the day the above mentioned incident happened.
I listened to the programme that day and I did not hear any inciting allegation by the anchors.
Except they want to lie to us that the police did not actually siege the house of the Senate president and his deputy.

Re: FG Clamps Down On Ray Power’s ‘Political Platform’; Imposes Fine by Reference(m): 8:37am On Jul 29, 2018
Of course the media needs regulation but in a tense political atmosphere such as ours, regulatory actions will always be subjective and open to interpretation. That is why the courts are there and these media houses should exploit them to push back against regulatory over reach.

Having said that it is clear the AIT is an opposition leaning media house just as TVC is a government leaning one. Every country has its FOX and CNN from the UK to Australia. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with that. I think our government should rise beyond the old colonial and military rule thinking that the media should always be pro government.

You hear Ministers of Information (such a portfolio has no place in a modern democracy) say the mass media is meant for 'social cohesion' which actually means unified thinking, which in reality is more akin to a socialist or communist setting than a liberal democracy in which divergent views should be accommodated as highways of development.

So the rules should be made to reflect that. A presenter should and can have and can take a position on any matter. I don't buy the idea that all media houses and all presenters MUST be unbiased. Our democracy can never grow that way. They can express their own thoughts as long as they are not unconstitutional or criminal. If they are libelous then the mefia house will simply pay the price in court. QED.
