If the debt cards interest rates are not high, how do they maximise profits? impoverishing majority of their clientele?

I know the are very protective of their bloody card, not that it is cheap, I took it cos it gives huge credit limit, I got up to 30K on mine. Its not accepted in loads of places though. MasterCard is accepted worldwide.

I wanted it because of the British Airways airmiles I can use to rack up. Also, the ability to use most airport lounges. Bro 30k would be too much for me... There's a devil within credit card.!

I remember getting my first ever credit card from Bank of America.

First one was a Cash Rewards Card for earning Cash Back & the second one was a Travel Rewards Card for earning Miles.

Both initially came with a $1000 . After using both cards for a year, I walked into the Bank and demanded to speak with a credit card specialist.

I informed her that I needed a Credit Limit increase on my cards since it has been over a year since I got them.

She then asked me how much limit I wanted and I said at least $5000 each on both cards.

She told me that she would have to call Corporate Office and My Credit History will be pulled.

She put the call through and it came back approved.

I nearly fall off my seat when I realized I now had about $10,000 in available credit from Bank of America.

Be careful if there are no kids involved or if you do not have any of your own kids, speak to a lawyer for advice. This cant be over stressed.

OK thanks

The United Kingdom is a racist country; it's only good for the money and infrastructure including healthcare. Am I wrong in this assessment?

Even in Nigeria, we practice tribalism.... What's the difference between racism vs tribalism?

In terms of infrastructure, you pay for what you get. Health care provision is not 100% effective, but you are rest assured that your health needs are fairly covered....

How hardworking are you to earn £? No free tea in China....

i saw the argument between justwise and lexus (it think) on the fees that landlords charge on properties sourced on gumtree.

i am with justwise on this one. during my renting days, i got the lease (for a whole house/apartment) directly from the landlord and I never paid a DIME for referencing, credit check or any other nonsense. this was both in England and Scotland. all i paid upfront was a month's deposit. i either get a letter from the recruitment agency confirming that i am employed or i give the landlord their details to contact them.

p.s. in scotland, agency fees were scrapped by the government .

hmmm. are you sure its not something to do with your postcode or are you declaring the 'minimum wage' which we contractors pay ourselves as your annual salary? amex has a high threshold for acceptance compared to other cards - usually declared earnings, excellent credit history and address history.

i have had the BA amex for a while now and i honestly think its one of the best CC cards out there. their reward scheme has been fab as family vacations have been cheaper. with 10k annual spend on the black card, you get 2 for 1 voucher to travel to almost any destination in the world (depending on seat availability). with the blue card, its 20k annual spend. the airmiles too are generous and I have been able to book reward flights.

started with about £3400 limit and i am currently on around £14k.

my first CC was a capital one card with a limit of £200 Which i used for 3 months before cutting up the card but leaving the account open with no further use and then calling them about a year later to close the account. i did this to build my credit history and it worked.

They asked me how much I make I gave them the real figure cos I wanted it badly. I gave them my bank account details cos they asked for it. They didn't give me immediate decision. After about 5 days, they came back with the refusal.
I am just giving it time, I will reapply. They don't know naija don't take no for an answer.

whch of the amex cards are you applying for? is it one of the platinum cards? the platinum card, gold card, etc have stricter eligibility criteria.

my application was straight forward (applied online) and I wasn't asked for additional info.

give it another 6 months and try again

That Capital one and Vanquish CC could be a drainer when it comes to Interest and they offer no balance transfer, anyway its a larder to climb to a more decent card.Like you said, the Amex has a very strict rule, plus your post code matters a lot, and having a property sure helps in the preferred post code too.
