How Do Other Non-igbo Nigerians Feel About Igbos? by blazesam(op): 7:21am On Aug 02, 2018
I can speak for myself as a Tiv person. They are simply africans, and we share probably more than 90% in similarities than differences. Igbo me like money, they like women and so do the hausas and almost every nationality in the world. They are humans with two fee,two hands, red blood flowing through their veins. They also cry like everybody does.

The igbos are by nature, aggressive, industrious, highly competitive and ruthless in the pursuit of what ever the view as their source of happiness. How they became this way can be attributed to

1) A pre-colonial culture which is first about the individual before the community.

2) The after effects of the civil war and the battle to prove that they can't be subdued.

No one is loyal to nigeria but yoruba and tiv is at least loyal to the odua republic (yoruba) and the ayatutu republic (tiv). Just as the hausa is loyal to the arewa but the igbo is loyal to his/herself

MORE COMMENT ON MY WRITE UP:

An average igbo is forever engaged in battle; with parents, with siblings, with relatives, with age group.
He ''has'' to be the first and the best......... All the time if he is to amount to anything in life (according to parents by the way). "Onye gbara first, onwere isi abuo?" a popular retort from most igbo parents when you come home with a school report with any other position other than the first position.
Due to the above, he is on battle mode everytime he engages any individual especially for the first time. He is a worst case scenario thinker; he assumes you are looking out for yourself first in every situation and thus justifies whatever he needs to do to emerge victorious.

I agree with your post except the last part. The Igbo man is the least loyal to his kinsmen compared to all other tribes because of that rugged individualism but there is still that element of loyalty

Igbos aren't that bad, just the money issue stuff...buh they are more straightforward like the hausas, buh also have respect for lives and properties... Majority are christians, and when I served in the east, they were very accommodating....

Only very few Nigerians see the Igbos like every other normal human.

The British saw them as overzealous and very independent hence, felt the Igbos cannot be trusted with power- The very reason for their mock war and hand over to the North.

The North see the Igbos as very proud and domineering, hence the speech by Ahmadu Bello that it's better for them to get an expatriate, than to employ the Igbo man. They fear he will gradually domininate them in no distant time.

Gowon was so scared of them that he economically reduced the Igbos to 20 pounds. Still a wonder to his cohorts how the Igbos have grown economically again.

The Closer brothers of the Igbos, the Igalas, Ijaws, etc are those I don't even understand, they share many cultures and even igbotic languages but have been deceived by the North to fear the Igbos, hence the continuous creation of states to alienate the Igbos from their Igboid brothers and from the Ocean all to cage the liberal spirit of the Igbo nation.

The rest of Nigeria is unnecessarily scared of the Igbos.
The Igbos are just normal people who are trying to survive in a country that have always suppressed them.
A view sold by the British.

DISCRIMINATION AND UNNECESSARY EGO BLOAT IS THEIR COMMON THING.

FINAL WORDS ON MY WRITTINGS.

Now all i have written here doesn't apply to every igbo obviously and infact this mentality may have been on the decrease especially in this era of "give everyone a medal for participation" but the above is my observation, i don't know for you oooh.
Hahaha oh and i forgot to add.... Igbos are loud. My God! and if they happen to be rich and uneducated? The noise level quadruples.... Not withstanding, the igbos are the strength of trade and weaknesses of politics in NIGERIA. Goodmorning my dear nairalanders.
