Even the Oshodi express way is bad. They repaired a road at town planning by coker road in less than 3 weeks the road has that hole again. Is it that the people fixing these roads are using substandard materials? Or our vehicles are too heavy

In some cases, people go out at night and dig the roads. Robbers who want cars to slow down at that point, mechanics/vulcanizers who want the car tires to get bad.

Unarguably, Lagos state is the most progressive state in Nigeria.

The state is a consistent front-liner in terms of new and innovative ideas for development, good governance, etc., in Nigeria.

Essentially, Lagos state is a classic testimony of how – with creative thinking – states in Nigeria can look beyond their sole dependence on monthly handouts from the Federal purse for survival.

Indeed, Lagos state pioneered state governments’ aggressive drive at generating revenue internally for the development of their states. This is one of the many areas that the Lagos state has spectacularly outpaced every other state in Nigeria.

Lagos state’s IGR rose from a meagre N600m per month in 1999 to a mindboggling N36billion per month in 2018.

These feats – together with the staggering GDP of $90 billion (2014) – situates Lagos state as the 7th largest economy in Africa – bigger than Cote d’Ivoire, Kenya and Ghana.

Lagos state also trumps these nations in terms of generated revenue and many other economic indices.

Tragically – and as it is with Nigeria as a whole – some of these smaller economies parades better infrastructure such as roads than Lagos state.

Indeed, Lagos state, as the nation’s pacesetter, has not particularly fared well in terms of providing good quality roads for its residents. It has absolutely no excuse for parading a state where almost 70 per cent of its road are in shambolic and potholes-riddled conditions.

For instance, the Mafoluku part of Lagos state shares boundary with 7 & 8 and the Airport road. It is the closest residential area to Murtala Mohammed Airports.

Mafoluku is characterized by a terrific neglect of the roads by successive governments in the state.

Virtually all the roads there are in an atrocious condition,

Many of the roads there typically feature crater-size potholes, eroded road surfaces and untarred roads.

Ideally, the position of Mafoluku ought to provide access to the Oshodi axis from Ikeja. The interconnecting routes there has good potential for easing traffic between the two locations. Sadly, the deplorable conditions of the roads at Mafuluku makes it an option that motorists would rather not settle for.

Mafoluku is strategically located in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government area of Lagos state.

The Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government council is Mr. Bolaji Idris Muse-Ariyoh.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is the Governor of Lagos state.

@foyek2001, I see you. I was born and raised in 112 mafoluku rd. 7/8 junction. sweet memories of the good old 80/early 90s.
ps: most of those roads have been ignored since the 80s. Now, there will have to be a total make-over for those roads to meet up to current lagos road's standard.

I live in this area, the local government is not really giving a damn at all on fixing roads in this enviroment. It's very pathetic and saddening, considering the number of revenue generated from commercial activities within this axis. You can almost not tell oshodi parks and markets from living quarters of mafoluku

I live in Lagos, so i can say that i know the city very well.
The current government led by Ambode is not doing well as regards maintenance of existing roads in the state. Even with the presence of Lagos Public works corporation (LPWC) whose only job is the maintenance of existing roads. This corporation which was established during the Fashola era was then very effective, patching all the major roads and streets. Fast forward to Ambode's era, they became almost non- existent. Now you can find pot holes on major roads left unattended for months, causing traffic. A very good/ current example is the pot hole at Maryland just before the traffic lights. Ambode is only concerned about new projects without maintaining existing ones.
There's hardly a good road to ply on the Lagos mainland, this explains the reason why Lagosians were surprised at the speed with which the road to the Fela shrine was fixed overnight when the French president was visiting..
