'Genort Rohr Should Live In Nigeria' - Etim Esin, Former Super Eagles Player by googlelove: 9:03am On Aug 06, 2018
Former Super eagle’s player Etim Esin, have advised the NFF to compel Super eagles coach Genort Rohr to work and live in Nigeria, if he desires to handle the national team.

Esin added that the inability of the tactician to watch the local league, and fish out talented players since taking on the coaching role have led to the decline in football grassroots development in the country.

Esin stated that the preference of foreign-based players by Rohr reflected the fact that the tactician is not ready to harness the potentials of the home-based footballers unlike Clement Westerhoff.

Esin concluded that the Nigerian football were continue to decline in development, if there is no favorable platform for both local and foreign based players to compete for positions in the team. He also urged the NFF to provide quality and standard facilities which can help improve the quality of the leagues, footballer and football in the country.

“If the NFF wants Rohr to develop Nigerian football for the future, I don’t have any issues with it, but the federation must make him work and live in Nigeria. “He needs to be in the country to source for domestic talents after failing at the World Cup. Westerhof discovered players like Finidi George, Daniel Amokachi, Sunday Oliseh and others during his days in the national team. We still have abundant talents across the country like this ex stars waiting to be discovered and groomed by an experienced tactician”. “The politics in Nigerian football is killing the development of the game. I see no reason why Rohr would still be pampered after having the worst result ever for Nigeria in the World Cup. Late Stephen Keshi was still building a team before going to the World Cup and qualified for the second round of the championship, equaling records set by other past Super Eagles coaches”. “Rohr focused on Nigerian players born in Europe en route to the 2018 World Cup and failed to move beyond the group stage. He said he is growing a new and young team that was the reason for the Eagles poor outing in Russia, but late Keshi was also building a team when he took the Eagles to the round of 16 at the World Cup”. “It is high time we faced reality in this country, things have to be done right. If the NFF is not ready to work with domestic coaches again, they should employ a reliable coach, who is ready to go round the country watch the league, grassroots games and discover players”. “If Rohr is working for the future, he must follow these rules. We have gifted players in Nigeria. The reliance on Nigerians born overseas did not work for him”.

Etim Esin....helped out by Clemens Westerhof then during his rape case.

I have not even read this but he has to mention Westerhof, our greatest ever coach/ technical adviser

Westerhof discovered likes of Okocha, Finidi, Amunike, Adepoju right from the Nigerian League

It doesn't matter where he lives. He can even live in aso rock. The problem is that rivers of blood are flowing in Nigeria and therefore the eagle can never successfully fly

You want a foriegn coach, be ready to face such consequence as this. He's not a Nigeria and his family isn't here; so what do you expect?
As far as I'm concerned, we have alot of coaches who are far more qualified than this man......we'll have gone far at world cup of not for his shallow tactics.

Stupid eagles that can't fly is that one eagle? Mtcheeeeew.

These baboons have politicized our football. They give slots to the high and mighty to bring in players for the national team. They don't care whoever you bring in.

When are we going to get it right!?? Nigeria would have performed better with a local coach.

BTW, history has it that all world cup winners was coached by local coaches. Look at the performance of Senegal with their local coach.

Inferiority complex de worry una.

Fact remains that Keshi performed better..To be fair Westerhoff did not have immediate success but I have not seen anything in the football to convince me about Rohr.

There is a way Nigeria has always played and he is trying to change that but it is not working.

Players do not have to be in Europe to be good

Example

Yekini
Oliseh
Finidi
Amuneke
Uche Okechukwu( one of our Best Defenders ever)
Siasia
Adepoju
Ikpeba

were all made in Nigeria and were part of a team ranked was it 5 or 6 by FIFA

No one can tell me these players were developed in Europe. When they arrived in Europe they were ready. This is true for KANU.

Now we have players that cannot dribble and cannot run. The only player with pace MUSA is too small and not skillfull enough

The only thing I see Rohr bringing is organization which unfortunately is down to Oyinbo factor. We saw the same thing with Westerhoff who had direct access to Aikhomu unlike Keshi whose boys were stranded and could not get a flight to Brazil

My take is the Next two Nations Cups must be at least 50% home based

The NPFL is not as good as it was in the 90s.

Besides, his assistants should be doing that, but no oooo - Salisu is busy collecting bribes and passing it off as a "gift". Salisu is terrible and should be sacked. Amunike and Finidi should be considered.
