Sure you will get PR without ICAN. I didn't use my ICAN to get PR. Finance is a booming market.
Wow, that's cool. Can I send you a pm ma?

Hi elders,
While searching through job ads for my preferred profession, I keep seeing things like, "Must have a valid drivers license. Must have a personal car."
Does it mean that some companies don't give official cars for official duties? What about fuel and maintenance costs, are they reimbursed?

If they make you use your personal car, those things will be reimbursed. More proof that a drivers license and at times personal vehicle is important here, not a luxury. I have someone who has missed out on a few 6 figure jobs because of no drivers license. Once one lands here, they should go straight to obtaining a drivers license. It's no joke.

I think much also depends on your career choice. Alot of technical jobs prefer candidates trained at Canadian unis or colleges. Some provincial government cooperations, crown cooperations or engineering firms even prefer local graduates from a Uni/college in Alberta or Sask to a graduate from a uni in Ontario or Nova Scotia. However, some recuiters would not care and still invite a candidate for an interview. It's now left for the candidate to shine over others with local education and experience - This is the hard nut to crack. Your bridging programs and all other soft skills would be tested here as well as your knowledge.

The above example is for technical jobs (trades, technicians, technologists, engineers, etc). I can't say much for other careers.

Sometimes we just have to put ourselves in the shoes of the recruiter or better still hiring manager. They are humans and often times would prefer to go with a tested product than one that is not, especially if public safety is an issue.

For the lady asking about customer services, sales or teller jobs, a recruiter won't probably care where she got her education from. Alot of those jobs require only an high school certificate, good communication skills and passing basic security clearance. Going back to school won't be necessary for such jobs and many other similar jobs.

Exactly... not everyone works in a bank.

Please how is west jet airline ? especially flights from UK to Canada?
@dupyshoo,@salford,salford1,@blackbuddy,@maternal.

Thank you

Westjet is okay for domestic. I find them better than AirCanada. Not like we have so many airlines here anway. These two have monopolized the market and they fix cost of flying all the time.

I have never patronised them for international flight, but if I had a choice between flying WestJet or an European Carrier, I would fly with the latter.

Good day all,

please has anyone recently done the letter of experience from FRSC. I have emailed them through the addresses left on this forum (info@ helpdesk@ NDLverification@ frsc.gov.ng) with my details and the recommended format. Nobody acknowledges the email nor responds, so I dont even know if its going to be processed. Do I need to get someone to process it within the FRSC?. I live in Lagos.

Please anyone who has done it recently can respond.

Thanks

Some do and some don't. Even others that do may would still have you drive your personal car once in a while. You would be reimbursed either by you paying for your own gas then reimbursed days or weeks later, or you would be given a fleet credit card. In both cases, you would keep all your receipts.

Some companies would pay you for mileage using your own car i.e may be 50 to 80 cents per kilometer based on the distance from your location to destination - One can make lots of money if the company uses this method (per diem)

For jobs that requires you to drive a company car. It is mandatory for you to have a driver's license. In Alberta, class 5 advanced with no more than 5 demerit points would usually be requested. There are some companies that just use ilthe driver's license requirement to screen out job applications even if all the candidate would never leave the office.

Hi, write back (explanation letter) to the Tax Office you initially sent the application for child benefits to, explaining the use of wrong currency exchange rate in arriving at your equivalent income for the years you stated. Attach a new set of application forms you've filled out with correct income stated and send all with a copy of the previous form containing the wrong rates (for reference) and you will be fine. There may be a delay in processing your new application as they need to reconcile your position but it's better that you are getting it rectified once and for all.

Hello Sir, one last thing. I got the HST credit cheque in the mail yesterday, do I send it back with my explanation letter?

Klm, Lufthansa, AirFrance, BA all fly direct to large Canadian cities. However If Westjet is your cheapest option, then go for it.

If the HST cheque was issued based on the inaccurate filing you earlier did, then yes. Please return it along with your explanation letter.

and for a mimimum of 1 year.
Pls I have 2 questions, if they say one year driving experience, do they mean 365days of driving (like each day you drive, you count to make up the one year) or just driving experience in one year(whether you every day or not).
2) How do you overcome the challenge of having someone else in the car if your spouse is only doing shortlanding (no family member available). Are there people one can hire for this service? Thank you

1)One year is one year, whether you drive or not.
2)I was mostly away all through my wife's one year wait. She was totally green. All she did was pay driving instructors for about 8 driving lessons (an hour each) a month after the one year wait. She failed the first attempt of the driving exam, but passed on the 2nd time. What really helped was that she had no bad driving habit as she never drove a vehicle till she moved to Canada.

Hi, as at now, CELPIP General Test for PR status to Canada is only available in Canada, Philippines, UAE and USA. Unless you're based in any of those locations, it's not a feasible option. If I may suggest, the earlier you get a date for IELTS and begin to study for it, the better for you. Hope this helps, https://www.celpip.ca/test-locations-fees/

Hi everyone, please I need good advice.
While doing the initial application for child benefit, I made a mistake in the incomes for both 2016 and 2017 (converted using USD rate instead of CAD rate leading to an understatement ). When and how to I correct this?

I would say that you should call Canada Revenue Agency (Individual tax enquiries @ 1-800-959-8281) and explain the situation to them the way you have explained here. Then they will tell you the correct thing to do.

https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/corporate/contact-information/telephone-numbers.html#h1

My guess, though, is that they will tell you to complete a new set of application forms with the correct information and include some type of notes explaining what happened. This is just my guess as it is better to call them for the right step to take.

Asinkwa:

As mentioned above, tell them about the cheque when you call them and they will tell you the correct thing to do with the cheque.

Whatever you plan to do, I strongly suggest you call them and discuss your situation with them first without hiding any facts. They are the people that can give you the most accurate information about what to do. You will never go wrong calling them.

Dear All,
I need your opinion on this , I have bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering and MBA. Have over 11 years experience working in the commercial banking sector. Wife has Bachelors degree in computer science. Which route is better between Express entry or going for a masters degree in Engineering or a PHD in management?how easy is it for one to get an engineering job as a foreigner or a management job.
