I don't want to say anything about the study gap issue again (after this). If you have even 20 years gap after your first degree(BSc) and have been working for those years you have every right to apply for something higher than BSc (MSc) in a field related to your BSc course/ current job and you stand a very high chance of getting your TRV.
I REST MY CASE.

His question is not about expediting anything, but whether a school has right to write the embassy on behalf of a student. Yes the school can do whatever they want. The tradition of school writing embassies to support a student’s visa application did not start yesterday and not about to end today. If the school’s letter strikes the right tone and substance, it can be helpful to the applicant’s visa issuance. But the VO is not obligated to go by what the school wrote if he/she feels there is strong reason for denial. It’s a delicate balance of power and the school can only write, but the decision is left to the VO. Generally when school writes an embassy, it does help the student’s application. But it is not a guaranty for visa issuance.

Concerning the matter of expediting the issuance of a visa, a visa office determines at its discretion the time period to act on an application. It will entertain a request to expedite an application only in a situation of death or serious medical condition.

Okay that’s is your answer, getting a school to write if you able to convince them to do, is a good thing and will help your application.

Since you've such relevant working experience why not go for express entry because you got a good profile that can qualify you for the draw.

I don’t understand myself. I see people with MSc and over 5 years experience on this thread going for study permit like seriously? Why not just go for EE and get PR?

I think most people assume EE is too difficult.

I know at least 5 people between December last year and last month who just got Canada visa via EE route from Nigeria. If you have MSC already with work experience, that is what you should be doing.

gooday guyz! hitherto have been naive about my quest for a master degree in canada that I had to contract the whole processing to an agent....a family friend for that matter, now she is at large.....her line stop going any more, and people are saying she travelled out of nigeria. The last time we talked, she asked i send down my international passport to get my visa from the embassy. I asked if I was suppose to follow and she said No. Then a friend informed me that I could run all my self...while I will love an outline on how to go about it myself, I will like to also know if I could track the one with the agent especially since my passport is with her. like if there's any one I could be linked up at the embassy to track the level of things...

Thanks Frank,

I have checked it and EE is not favorable for me. I don't have a masters yet and am quite advanced in Age couple with the fact I have a spouse and 2 other dependencies.

Why are you interpreting "gap" as the dictionary meaning?. Many of you don't know what it means and just commenting. Can u just take a minute and google "study gap"

Shizzleadedapo:

Hi, working is not considered to be a Gap. Gap is when you finish a course and then sit idle. If your work experience is in line with the program you are applying for in Canada you stand a chance.

But the decision is always with the VO whether the work experience is considered for the approval.
Thanks.

Very sad to read this. It's unusual for your Agent to only submit your International Passport for processing of a Canadian Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) for a study permit, without you being present to give your Biometrics (i.e. have your finger print and picture taken) at the VFS passport and documents collection/submission office. My gut feeling is that your Agent has not started the process. Hence, you need to promptly retrieve your Passport and personnally commence both processes of applying for admission at a school and also TRV, using information acquired here and other reputable resource. You can start reading this thread from previous pages and ask pertinent questions for clarifications or more information, as you proceed.
Goodluck.

It appears both of you are always looking for the mistake either of you would make and then you build on it. The way you tackle each other for here na war. Thankfully, you both have been helpful, so shaking. Una well done!!!

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by harde116: 10:30pm On Aug 11, 2018
I wonder how you guys make this thing so scary. Do you think that's how they love school so much that they feel after a program, you must do another one immediately? Like we think in Nigeria. So i can't finish a BSc in Computer Science, work for 8years and decide to go for a masters degree in Robotics because i know Canada would give me quality education? Or i can't work in an organization as an admistrative staff for years and decide to go for an MBA? Why do you attach so much to this thing beyond the norm?

The same way everyone would have to justify why they are going and the relevance of the program is the same way 8 or 10years would.

My Bsc was gotten in 2010 and i'm freaking going for a PGC!!!

Quit making this thing so scary abeg!!

jnyuwa02:

This is very true. The longer you have been away from school and the older you are, the more justifications you have to provide to the VO. With a ten year gap away from schooling you have to have a very compelling case to provide that you can be successful in school and in fact that you would be a genuine student if the privilege is extended to you. This can be tackled by a very compelling SOP backed by strong evidence. Perhaps talk about your upbringing with devotion to learning and how learning is a lifelong affair for you and you can foresee yourself studying in one form or the other, the rest of your life.

Most people I have encountered with ten year gap, were found wanting on purpose of visit. It’s a very tall order to succeed with ten year gap, but it is possible.

dinho10,

The school has no right whatsoever to expedite the processing of a Student Visa application.

Many times, when I make comments online I try to leave a loophole, just because there might be a tini tiny possibility that the otherwise might be the reality of others.

About the school influencing candidate's visa application, although possible I'd say it is very very unlikely and the reason is not far fetched.
