Makes sense. I have an Account there too & they really do Instant ATM Card. Interest reates is benn regulated by CBN so its fixed for all savings accounts, its only Bank's sub'accounts interest rates that is different

I was at Union Bank weeks back so I asked their staffs requirements to open a savings account with them. I was told to come along with some documents and 2.5k. He said I will get an ATM card within an hour of opening my account there for 1k. What do you think, Nairaladers?

@op, don't go to open a savings account with the aim of getting interest. For me, the aim of opening a savings acc is to restrict me from having access to my money at will.


I'm banking with Union Bank and UBA. They are all good. If u want interest in your money, buy bitcoin and keep or go into cryptocurrency.

run for GTB, just because I have saving account with them, they crossed to my saving account to deduct COT (cost of transaction) for my current account while I was in transit in Lagos from my transport fare and made sure I was stranded , I was thinking I still have 5,000 in my saving account for my transport back , only for me to received a text message saying , 2000 transferred from your saving account to your current account, 1835 deducted for charges, I was like who authorised the transfer without my signature? I was stranded and turned a beggar in Lagos alas GTB action, when i complained, their manager was screaming like a market woman on the phone, on my return, I quickly switched bank, they should come to another bank to come and deduct COT, infact, I even abandoned the current and saving account account for them, they can do whatever they like with both account lol


come last year, a friend mistakenly sent money to that abandoned account, I went there, and they told me the account was dormant and I should revalidate the account, I wasn't with the requirement and had no time to go back, I believed nothing will touch money in a dormant account until I got SMS from them that they want to issue a MasterCard for me, I decided to stop by and warn them , I already have a MasterCard with my current bank, I then told them,

...you GTB told me I can not withdraw my money from the account because the account is dormant right?

He said ' YES!!!

I then asked him, why is it that your own friend, a third party, MasterCard can now deep hand into my own dormant account , my own pocket to take my own money, but I the owner of the money can't?

he quickly called his boss, said seem like I'm in a law court, are you a lawyer?


that was how I was able to stop them and their friend from taking my money, sure they do this to lot of people

Yo are owing the bank goan pay..COT is a CBN policy..when you guys don't read terms and conditions before opening a current account..the bank can debit any of your accounts to recoup theor money.you don't have any claim bro

Try Fidelity bank...there monthly interest rate on all products they offer is the best...truly Fidelity Bank keeps their words.

u lied, Fidelity is the worst, they charge 72 naira for transfer charges and 70 frm fidelity to fidelity, which oda bank does dat. Useless bank.

Gtb is overcrowded and you will just be a deep in the ocean. Their customer service is terrible. They act like you are a pest.

Diamond bank gives better service and you can always reach your account officer and their mobile app is top notch but people see it as an igbo bank. Their int rates are just regular..

Union bank is kind of laid back and lacking in technology. Though that is already changing.

Sterling bank is not bad also although not popular. They have internet banking and good customer service.

Give it to union bank presently... Using them specifcally for savings only and the customer service told me about their union korrect. Try it

As far as Nigeria is consign, GTBank has proved their loyalty and guaranty over their services to customers.
I use GTB, UBA, Access, Sky bank and Diamond and i have internet banking and ATM cards for all and also have their mobile Apps on my Android phone.
But so far so good, GTB is the best because its SECURED, RELIABLE, ACCESSIBLE and GUARANTEED.

If you are a business person or planning to open a company here in Naija, i advise you have more than one bank account, open atleast two or three accounts with different banks because with the way PDP are defecting, nothing is impossible again in Naija.

Jokes aside, the best way to save is buy jewelries at cheap price and then hold on to it. If your home is not safe open a deposit safe with a bank and keep it there. Its like buying bonds, it matures with age.
