We have new elections in September, what will Giwa gain from being in power between now and then? Let me start with your last sentence. The only player from this squad that has so far distinguished her self enough to get an invite to the Super Falcons squad is Rashidat Ajibade. We do not have players in this crop in the modes of Ugochi Oparanozie, Assisat Oshoala, Ebere Orji, Francesca Ordega, Ngozi Okobi, Esther Sunday, Uchechi Sunday, Courtney Dikeh. At this stage of their careers, they were already wrecking havoc.

This crop is lacking in individual abilities. Fact.

The fact that the coach is always shouting out instructions tells you how difficult it is for the girls to maintain instructions/tactics without being barked at. Senior male team handlers need not do that cos they are dealing with professionals already.

You yourself can even plot some tactics for the Super Eagles to execute. But for female age grade football it is quite more challenging cos as I said before they easily get carried away by the occasion. Look at the tapes of those girls from other countries again you will find it more difficult telling which formation the coaches have adopted or who is playing where as they mostly all run round the pitch and marking zonally.

Lots of people have said Ajibade has failed to live up to expectations, and I have seen more accolades for the Goal Keeper than any other member of the team, also, considering Ajibade has NO goals to her name, it is funny how she can be the best over a player that has won a Woman Of The Match award in this same tournament.


PS: Yesterday's goal against China is listed as an own goal. So, how has Rashid at distinguished herself?

Nigeria’s chances of shining at the forthcoming U17 AFCON zonal qualifiers in Niger Republic have suffered a major blow after at least 15 of the 40 best players failed the mandatory MRI age test just two weeks to the big kick-off.

Some feelers have even suggested that the players who failed could even be far more than officials were ready to divulge.

The players affected include four of the team’s star strikers as well as a highly-rated central defender from Plateau State, SCORENigeria has exclusively gathered.

We have further gathered that all the players have since been sent packing from the team’s training camp in Abuja.

Another set of 15 players are now to undergo the MRI scan to replace those who failed.

“It’s a devastating blow, everyone involved in the team is shocked,” an official admitted to SCORENigeria

Last year, as many as 23 players failed the age test so much so that the five-time world champions failed to qualify for the U17 AFCON in Rwanda.

Coach Manu Garba’s team are to begin their qualifying campaign on September 3 against Burkina Faso.

They are drawn in Group B along with Cote d’Ivoire and Benin Republic with only the overall winners of the seven-team qualifying competition advancing to the tournament proper in Tanzania next year.

I prefer these two options. But right now, the first option is feasible than the second.

Zambia FA organised MRI in June/July. Early screening can help you remove the overaged and still give you time to prepare a team.

We waited till the last minute.

Can't the coaches do a proper screening process without MRI. We can reduce the headache of this, every year.

So I am not just judging from the WC proper. This team is very average compared to the past U20 teams. The only star among them is Rashidat Ajibade. The goal keeper too has done well having to replace the former first choice Onyinyechi.
But I would nt be surprised to see Ajibade as the first from the crop to get the Super Falcons invite.

Simple because those coaches don't want those jobs. If you look at the top countries in female football you will see coaches that are dedicated to women's football.

I know Rashidat from her secondary school days at St Joseph secondary school, surulere. I have a strong attachment based on how long I have known her. But, if I were to be fair, frankly she hasn't delivered as much as I had hoped. With such abysmal performances at the group stage, she wouldn't even bench a Courtney Dike of 2014. Clearly our goalie has been better and most likely would be in the national team. This Rashidat can't bench oparanozie, neither can she bench asisat. Maybe an honourable bench member.

Coaching female teams is a different ball game my brother not because they don't want the job. Are you telling me some of our NPFL coaches would not jump at the opportunity to coach the Super Falcons team?

If we are talking Super Falcons Main team, Ajibade will only be the second to be invited from this crop... Someone in this current U-20 team has already made her bow for the main team.
Unsurprisingly, she is Chiamaka Nnadozie, the super goalie of the team. She debuted for the main team against France in that 8-0 bashing.


If we are talking Super Falcons overall including both the main and home based teams, then Anam Imo, Kemi Famuditi, And even Glory Ogbonna have made their bows at the WAFU tournament. Chiamaka was again present in goal.

So uhmmm.. Dad.. Biko rephrase. (But I agree that this set is not as super talented as the previous classes of 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014). Even the class of 2006 was very good.

Yes, I know she has not yet lived up to expectations in this tournament but that girl is quality for her age. I saw her demolish defenses during build up to this tournament. So I know what she is capable of. I agree she may not be able displace Oparanozie at the moment but she is surely one for the future. I see her joining the Super Falcons soonest.

Ajibade won't be in direct competition with Oparanozie, who is a super natural No.9. Aijbade is kinda like Oshoala. She is a wing forward and an SS... Not a top striker. She loves to cut in from the right or left to go central and do damage. But yes, she can be utilized under adaptative measures as a no.9 or false 9 as seen in the game against China.

Ola Aina has completed his loan switch to Italian Serie A club, Torino from parent club, Chelsea.

The versatile defender put pen to paper on a new contract with the Blues, keeping him on till 2021 before moving to the Maroons where he will spend the 2018/2019 season, according to a publication on Chelsea's official website.

During the course of last season, he played a key-part role for Hull City in the English Championship but has long been touted to continue his development elsewhere since the arrival of Maurizio Sarri at the club.

Folashade Ijamilusi, a girl I tipped to be the next Asisat Oshoala. She was not even invited for camping. I too have been asking questions as to why she didn't make the camping list.

Club Brugge is op zoek naar een doublure voor Wesley Moraes en volgens Duitse bronnen hebben ze die te pakken. Blauw-zwart zou een aanvaller van Wolfsburg al binnen hebben.


Wolfsburg heeft alvast laten weten dat ze Victor Osimhen verkocht hebben, maar nog niet aan wie. In Duitsland zijn ze er quasi zeker van dat het aan Club Brugge is. De aanvaller testte eerst nog bij Zulte Waregem, maar werd daar niet weerhouden.

De Nigeriaanse spits van 19 jaar oud werd anderhalf jaar geleden weggehaald uit zijn vaderland toen hij op het WK U17 maar liefst tien keer scoorde. Toen al toonden zowel Club Brugge als Anderlecht interesse. Vorig seizoen speelde hij echter bitter weinig en wist ook het doel niet te vinden.

That second option isn't feasible at all. For it to work, the constitution has to be amended.
