Go to Settings - Additional settings - Region, from there you can change your region. Be warned though, when you change region, some additional region specific MiUi apps gets installed.
So in your case, changing to India will add some apps targeted to the india market.

I think anything xiaomi is addictive be it the xiaomi thread on nairaland or any xiaomi phones/product I'm talking from experience so I'm using this medium to advice everyone here to thread with caution so as not to fall a 'victim' below are my experiences on two different occasions 1. I remember when I couldn't come online for some days I had to read back over 30pages so as to keep up to date on the happenings here cos I just couldn't move on. 2. I was lucky to sell my note 2 at a very good price and was hoping to quickly get a used note 4x in the interim but couldn't. the person that bought the phone kept disturbing my life to hand over the phone to him after paying cash but I bluntly told him that if I don't get a replacement after the one week grace he gave to me that I will return his money. So here am I back to my note 2 after returning his money simply because I couldn't get a replacement. Story of my life which I don't regret!

Forget it, smile SIM won't work on it. Our touts are always in a hurry to sell without telling the buyer the disadvantages of buying Chinese version as against the global version.

NOTE: Smile and MTN 4G (LTE band 20) won't work on Chinese version phone except Mi 8

So xiaomi experts and touts what are advantages and disadvantages of using a chinese rom pls explain to intending buyers
