Garba Lawal said it just the way it is;

"it is no big deal that the boy left, we cant beg anyone to repp his country, it is his choice. We av had great players like okocha, Kanu et al quit the national team yet the team didn't fold, so why should we fret that a certain boy just left, please we should respect his decision and let him be"

Another person already fed up with Vicmo's repulsive antics.

Those who are hurt that we kicked out the bad egg(Vicmo) for the good of our national team, should force him to rescind his decision grin grin

I think the lad realized he is not appreciated hence his impromptu retirement.

I am shocked to see so much celebration but that's how it is to represent Nigeria now a days.

I do understand the Victor Moses factor. And it took him a little while to build that name too. He tore things up at Afcon 2013 but went missing at the WC in 2014 with even a Michael Babatunde preferred ahead of him. Took him a while to come back from that and make himself into the Victor Moses that went on to become EPL champion.

Victor Moses remains one of the top players Nigeria had in this era but I believe his absence will be replaced with time. Just give it time.

I know you are concerned about Afcon 2019. How are we going to execute that without Victor Moses? Well... Time will tell.

That is Life Egbon. Mikel was a key part of the puzzle needed to enable Nigeria conquer Africa again. Emenike was another piece of the puzzle but another was also Victor Moses. Moses was like the last missing piece of the puzzle.
Putting them all together, we had a masterpiece team that rose to conquer the continent. Remove any of them and we would not have conquered. A Moses in that team without Mikel would have failed. A Mikel in that team without Moses would also have failed. They needed each other. Simple.

And if we are being honest, there is no aspect of this discussion where Moses comes out on top as Nigeria's best in this era over Mikel. Club and country showings/achievements prove this fact. Mikel will be remembered as NIGERIA's finest in the Post-2010 WC era when he hangs up his boots. That is a fact.

Victor Moses singlehandedly won matches during that Afcon triumph. It is a known and established fact.

Besides, Mikel played alongside players better or on the same level with Victor Moses. Kalu Uche, Odemwingie, Obasi etc why em no solve the puzzle to win AFCON?

Like it or not the name Moses will be mentioned next to Kanu and Okocha. He is Nigerian football royalty.

He went to the world cup just recovering from long injury in 2014. Fact.

Keshi intentionally also kept him on the the bench for reasons best known to him.

Besides, Michael didn't directly replace or benched Victor Moses because he played as an SS or AMF while Victor Moses played on the wings.

How many games did Moses single handedly win? Apart from the Ethiopia game tell me another please.

Asking the puzzle question shows that you don't understand that most times all it takes to conquer is a player with a certain skillset and quality added to the other core players with the right level of quality already on ground.
Was Kalu Uche a dashing dribbling winger? What about Osaze? Was he the kinda player that could go dribble on the run, Stretching the plays..? Was Obasi powerful on the run? Was he not lightweight? Moses was the total package of power, speed, dribbles, drive and finishing back in 2013.

Victor Moses had no Afcon experience before 2013 yet he exploded at that tournament because he was a round peg in a round hole. He was the kinda player needed to join forces with Mikel and Emenike at the peak of their powers and cause an earthquake on the continent and they did just that.

But Victor could feature against France becos Michael Babatunde got injured against Argentina na not so? Babatunde's injury opened up a good chance for Moses to feature. It took Moses some little while too to build his name. That is my point.

Hate him, love him, critique him, bounce on and off him, I do that also, but no doubt, VicMo has been a big big collosal value to the brand called the super eagles.

I can see some Tryna insult him by saying Onyekuru is better. I understand they mean potentially.

Besides, I know Afcon 2013 was won by 5players, but the 180million+ Nigerians know that VicMo played a big big part in our reaching the finals.

Mikel I recall, had to step up his game cos Mba, Emenike-Ideye and co were shadowing him. He is a classy player so he showed it versus CIV and that's what most remember Mikel for as being the Mikel we know. But that doesn't trump what VicMo did to me.

He wasn't even selfish then like he later became. Haba!!!

He made that SE tick than Mikel made the SE tick in the range of years from 2012-2017.

Did you forget the ones against CIV and Mali?

Victor Moses is not near Peter Odewingie when he was at his peak. Nsofor no get speed, skills etc. Obasi nko

All those players at the same time in the same era. Why Mikel no win AFCON?

So Moses singlehandedly won us the games against CIV and Mali abi? Just Victor Moses? SMH... Look, Moses was excellent in those games but he was not the only stand-out. He shared the stage with a few other excellent performers.

So Moses is not near Osaze at his peak abi? You will say this because you want to belittle Mikel's contribution to the NT? Kwantinue.

Please who is Nsofor and Obasi to Moses? Na wa ooo

Mikel was 18 going on 19 in 2006 where they finished 3rd. At 2008, they lost out too as the Post-Okocha period was still tough on them. Kanu was running on already tired legs. In 2010, Mikel finally took up mantle as leader of the young guns but the team was still ultimately led by Enyeama, Martins, Yakubu, Osaze, Yobo.. they fell short in the SF. 2012, we didn't qualify.

But in 2013, Keshi obviously made Mikel one of the undisputed leaders of the team on-field and surrounded him with the personnel to enable him explode on the grand stage called the Afcon. Then came in Victor Moses and it was a match made in heaven.

Mikel was no leader in those times he didn't win but he was leader alongside Yobo and Enyeama in 2013. He matured and it paid off with Moses and Emenike in the mix too.

You are not the only one who keeps chonicles on NT players Biko... So stop sounding like it is a hidden secret on how Mikel grew into his role in the Super Eagles Squad as leader.

Now here is food for thought... You credit Moses as the sole reason we conquered in 2013. We failed to qualify in 2015 and 2017... I guess that should be Moses' fault alone too abi? Since he was the alpha and Omega of the team in his time.

It is not a question of "if Babatunde played as a winger" but who was keeping Moses out of the team (Starting XI). Babatunde played AM and CM. And so did Moses (AM) when he started in place of Babatunde against France. Musa and Osaze kept their places. Moses played Central against France and drifted to the flanks sometimes. This shows that Moses could be accommodated in the same lineup with Osaze and Musa but Babatunde was ahead under Keshi and justified the decision too.

Please don't miss the point. Even then, Moses took a little while more to really establish himself as a Super Eagles indispensable and key player in the long run. That is the point of my going back to the 2014 WC period

In all, bottomline is that Moses served us well and played a vital part in giving us our most glorious football moments so far in this 21st century. He will always be remembered as a Hero especially for the 2013 Afcon Triumph. He has called it quits and I think we should all respect it and move on... The future of Nigerian Football remains as bright as ever in terms of the avalanche of quality young talents coming through especially on the wings. In good time, we will make up for Moses' absence.

Victor Moses was a very important player. He was critical to our AFCON success and WC qualification.

However, it is obvious that he has been selecting games to play in recent years. It seems like he can no longer motivate himself for small games.

Rohr alluded to the difficulty to get him to play the WB role for Nigeria in one of the interviews.

At 27, he is very young to retire but if his mind is no longer there then it is best to let him go.

Enyeama no doubt at all. Mikel arguable but Moses? Wait oga, I hope you know that Osaze is way way better than Moses is or ever will be? Apart from Obasi's injury woes I would say so too, do you think it is easy starting as a winger for Schalke 04?? The only team where VicMo would start as a winger would be a mid table team. Forget the long talk, as at 2010 AFCON na bench VicMo for dey or play as a RB.
